Great video Trent, I could have only dreamed of this level of typeface modification back when I first dabbled with DTP software on an Atari ST back in the 1990’s 😊

I have always wondered how text like this could be achieved. I am totally new to typography so this video has been an eye opener for me. I am a hobbyist creator and switched from Adobe to Affinity products mid-summer. I am loving Affinity and have totally advanced my hobbyist skills to a much higher level since learning to use it thanks to videos by you and other. Thank you for posting this video.

Hi Trent. I really love these font videos. I find it difficult using some of these more 'exotic' styles. Your tutorials are just the right level for me

I'm an ex Photoshop and Illustrator user so I'm taking the designs I did in those Apps and recreating them in Affinity. It's a great way to learn the software and troubleshoot the differences in the ways both apps handle design creation. Thx again!

this was so helpful! I'd love to see more font videos. Text is definitely not my strong suit (and I'm also just in the process of learning Affinity after 20+ years of photoshop)

Thank you! I had no idea. I often wondered why the font wasn´t the same as the example. Now I know 🙃

Hi Vella! I haven't tried it on the iPad, but as far as I can tell, it should work. Let me know if you try it :)

when I use the Glyph browser in affinity photo I do not get the same choices of font deviations yet I used the same creative fabrica beardson's Font download. Do you know why I am not getting the same choices as presented in the video? Thanks
@TechnicallyTrent10 күн бұрын
Hi Cathy! Sorry to hear that isn't working. Are you sure that in the glyph browser you are looking at the "Beardson's Normal" font? Also, make sure nothing is in the glyph browser's search bar that could be filtering it out. And in the dropdown under the font name in the glyph browser, make sure "All" is selected. Let me know if that works!

Howdy, longtime subscriber, and liker. Help.. when I use my text tool and affinity to designer I get a double S looking blue glyph at the end and can't get rid of it. It is outside the text box and Will not respond to delete.
@TechnicallyTrentАй бұрын
Hi @kevco6162! Sounds like you probably have special characters enabled. Try de-selecting the menu option Text -> Show Special Characters. Hope this helps!

Did you have the paid or the free font
@TechnicallyTrentАй бұрын
Hi Roger, I used the paid version. The free version just supports the Normal font (it doesn't have the inline/shadow/ornaments). Note that the paid version is super expensive without a CF subscription, but it is totally free if you are on the $3.99/month Creative Fabrica subscription. It's an awesome resource for those who want to download lots of fonts: www.creativefabrica.com/ref/2746202/
@wreford07Ай бұрын
So to actually do this tutorial - we need to purchase the entire layered font, yes? (The free one is just the normal text)
@TechnicallyTrentАй бұрын
Hi @wreford07, yes, it appears that the inline/shadow/ornaments are not part of the free version. Note that the paid version on CF seems quite expensive, but you can download the entire thing totally for free if you have a Creative Fabrica subscription, which is only $3.99/month. www.creativefabrica.com/ref/2746202/

after converting to curves i can't resize my text or at least i dont know how lol
@TechnicallyTrentАй бұрын
Hi @doughgarcia6086! After converting to curves, if you want to resize your text, make sure you select it with the Move Tool (the black arrow icon on the left toolbar). If you have the Node Tool selected (the white arrow), that will be for selecting and moving individual points. Hope this helps!

I have never heard of layered fonts or thought to use the extra glyphs other than char map.. thanks for this
