You should invest in a soda blaster. Using backing soda removes all dirt and oil and doesn't etch. And since its water soliable if any gets stuck in tiny crevices you can just wash it down and it will dissolve away. You could use a soda blaster to restore the interior of the valve cover if you wanted to make everything look new
