Some HP keyboard and mice sets don't have the connect button, for example, the HP Lifestyle one. It might use other methods, like a hidden pin behind an info sticker on the mouse which you need to connect with a paperclip, pressing all three mouse buttons and then turning it on to pair it with the receiver, or pressing and holding F2, F3 and F4 buttons on the keyboard and then turning it on. But I don't know for sure.

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard I'm trying to connect to an HP Laptop. It has an on/off button that you slide and a small port with no light. Am I going to need a flash drive to get this to connect? I've tried everything even went to my settings to connect it thru Bluetooth. Am I doing something wrong? I have an HP Elite v2 wireless keyboard (one of my favorite keyboards of all time!) with a Link-5 mini-dongle (it has the little asterisk symbol on it) on a PC in my home; and an HP X3000 wireless mouse with mini-dongle that I use on a laptop. They sit about 25 feet away from each other, and I've never had problems with interference. Is there a way to connect the X3000 mouse to the PC with the Elite v2 keyboard and the dongle that's there? That way I'd have the Elite v2 keyboard and the X3000 mouse on the same system. Since that dongle (the one on the PC) is Link-5, I thought that might work. I've tried and tried, and no luck so far. What's "fun" about it is these mini-dongles don't have any status lights to tell whether anything it trying to connect or not. I also tried connecting the keyboard to the dongle on the laptop, but it doesn't have the little Link-5 symbol on it, so I wasn't expecting that to work. Maybe the X3000 isn't "LInk-5" compatible? I could get the complete Elite v2 keyboard - mouse set, but I don't like the mouse that comes with that set. The X3000 works much better in my hand. That's why I'm trying to combine them into a working system.

Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support! I understand that you are experiencing an issue in connecting your wireless keyboard as you have lost the dongle. I will do my best to assist you. Once the matching dongle is lost the WIFI keyboard is useless except for salvaging electronic parts. The problem is that the wireless keyboard is bonded by a radio transmission key and frequency to its dongle from the factory. You will need to replace the keyboard. The new keyboard set will have a dongle that is part of the set. You could also use a wired USB keyboard. Regards, HP Support

+shelly bear It really comes down to the individual device, manufacturer, and type of wireless connection between the devices. If there is not a Sync button, it is far less likely that they will work with the other receiver.

I have a problem with my "W" key, in particular. Whenever it is pressed, it makes an annoying buzzing noise, and vibrates. I usually play games which require it to be pressed, so this buzzing's constantly making my finger cramp. When I looked this problem up, they simply said to ask for help from a support number, but being the little child I am, I don't wish to call anyone. Is a wire somewhere screwed up? I've got the KBRF7171 keyboard (the one on the right, which he's pairing at 2:50). It has 3 LEDs (Capslock, Numlock, and top-right corner above sleep key). Can someone tell me if any LEDs turn on when batteries are inserted, or when connect button is pressed, or when the pairing is successful. I'm trying to figure out if I've got a bad keyboard and I'm just trying to find out if any of the LEDs turn on (solid or blink) before or without it being paired. Thanks.

I think it would really depend on the devices in question, and what type of wireless communications they both use and whether either of them were tied to a specific device. My guess is that they would not work together unless the connection was something generic like Bluetooth.

Are wireless keyboards secure or can someone with there own HP or other receiver, log the keys I pressed? how many different channels are there someone would have to go through to search for mine, or are keyboard and USB receiver encrypted to a unique device and receiver pair? Obviously for passwords, i'm concerned, There were no instructions mentioning security at all. I have a HP keyboard k2500 and I am happy with it, though I would like to know if i can secure it at all for my online banking etc.

Still useful information but the receiver no longer seems to work??? Fresh batteries replaced with fresh batteries on my KG-1061 HP Wireless Keyboard. Moved the receiver all around. Repeatedly restarted the computer. There seems to suddenly be an issue with the receiver that shows up as a message about issues with a USB device. I'm not sure why this would happen. There is no internet connection for updating anything, other than a very slow and weak hotspot off a cell phone that's using the biggest cell amplifier on the market just to have any kind of signal in the house... Limited to a bar or two at best, with direct Line of Sight AND within 8-10 feet of the amplifier's broadcast antenna. So, it's not like something updated and even if it did, it shouldn't affect the receiver and keyboard. The various usb slots all seem to work fine... just not for the receiver. The receiver does toggle the system's audio notification upon insertion and removal. It is a black dongle but there is no light coming on and I can't recall if there ever was; I certainly didn't notice any light nor is there any visible LED. I'll keep playing around with it and see if I'm missing something. I'll try cleaning it again, etc, but certainly appreciate any tips that anyone, including HP might have for me. Prior to this, it worked fine until the previous use, where I restarted the computer and it was in synch. This time, nothing has worked. The computer gets used for a single task, once every week or two... until there's internet available here; most likely via Low Earth Orbit Satellite (LEOS)... but that task really could be easier with a keyboard instead of an on-screen keyboard.

If the keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth and the computer has a Bluetooth adapter than it is pretty easy. If not, you would have to try to get a replacement for the WiFi adapter that came with the keyboard/mouse pair. In the end, you may find it is easier to replace the set.

+Harsh Prajapati The following troubleshooting steps will assist you step by step on how to fix the problem Option1: Device Manager - > Go to Properties of the keyboard ( standard keyboard ( PS / 2 ) - > Update Driver - > Browse my computer for driver software - > Choose from a list of device drivers on my computer - >Uncheck " Show compatible hardware " - > Select just any driver - > for example HID Keyboard - > then restart Now do the same again all over again - > but chose the correct driver (PS / 2 standard keyboard) Option2: There should be an option in BIOS where you can select stop on all but keyboard failures, the only problem is you need an older PS/2 keyboard to get into the BIOS to do it.Please check if you can get a PS/2 keyboard and connect it to your computer and change the settings in the bios. Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I did everything i could. My keyboard still isnt working. I received a notification that a device has comnected but it still wont work. I also changed the batteries to new ones.
