@baileybushey I know it's a little long, but go through it and try the steps. We tried to cover the different things that can cause a wireless mouse or keyboard to not work correctly, as well as explain why issues can occur. After restarting the PC, the next thing I would check are your batteries. You'd be surprised how quickly some mice use up batteries, especially if they are rechargeable batteries.

@Pedroxpvista I'm a little confused. Are you saying you took the keyboard apart, and now it doesn't work anymore after putting it back together?

Did you by chance make any changes to your PC before this happened, such as running a registry or PC cleanup utility? Have you tried plugging your mouse and keyboard into a different port? Your problem probably is software related, but it's hard to say a driver would fix it, particularly if you can't get into Windows to run the driver.

Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port or even tried it on another PC? Also, have you checked to see if the mouse or USB device is listed in Device Manager after you hear it recognize the USB receiver when plugging it in? Does the mouse have a sync button? I know you said the receiver didn't have a sync button, but I wonder if there is one on the mouse.

@Pedroxpvista Well, you can try opening it again to see if there are any pieces clearly out of place or offset. Otherwise, you may end up having to get a new keyboard. Did you spill fluid in it? If so, it's also possible that some liquid is still keeping the keys from properly sending signals.

i got a red hp wireless mouse x4000 and the left click doesn't work. the right one does and the scroll one as well. i had the mouse for about a year and it's silly to think that is wear off after such a short period of time. is there anything that i could do? i used the mouse with a hp laptop, but most of the times it wasn't recognize by the laptop. i always had to change the usb port(i got 4), putting the connector half way through the usb made it work but putting it all the way inside didn't so shit. it wasn't expensive, but u will think when u're buying a mouse in 2013 it will last longer than a year, i mean i remember the first mouse that i ever owned, a trackball one back in 2000, that lasted after countless clicks while playing video games for 4 freaking years.

Have you noticed if it happens with a specific program that you are using when you notice it? Then next time it happens, right-click the bottom bar of your desktop (where there are no icons) and select "Start Task Manager". Look at the programs and processes that are open and running when the lag happens. On the processes screen see if there some programs using A LOT of resources at the time it lags.

If possible, try connecting the mouse to another PC to see if it works for a different PC (this will help rule out issues with your PC). If it still doesn't work, and you know for sure the batteries are good, it's possible the mouse hardware has failed and needs to be replaced.

Does neither the mouse or keyboard work? When you plug in the wireless receiver to the USB port, does the PC show that it recognizes it (makes a noise when you plug it in, and/or shows by the time that a new devices was connected)? If the PC doesn't recognize when you plug in the receiver, that tells you there is an issue with the PC recognizing the device. I'm not sure about the System Restore issue mention.

What do you mean? Does it install the basic plug n' play driver?
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 11 жыл бұрын
That very well could be. Objects can interfere with wireless signals. If moving the mouse/keyboard makes the lag better or worse, it's likely interference with the signal. If it makes no difference when you move them and the issues is random, it's possible there is a process running that is competing with the keyboard mouse wifi resources. If this issue persists all the time no matter what you do, it could be a hardware or driver issue. In this case, I would look to reinstall the latest driver.

Did the mouse and keyboard come with a driver? Does the wireless receiver and the mouse and keyboard have "connect" buttons to sync them up with the PC?
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 11 жыл бұрын
The receiver is paired with your specific keyboard and mouse. So if it isn't working, it's best to get a new mouse and keyboard. It could be that the receiver you have isn't in stock anymore. Just to make sure, did you try replacing the batteries in the mouse and keyboard before plugging in the receiver?
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 12 жыл бұрын
@Diem751 It could be interference with the wifi signal or it could also be that your mouse batteries are dying or weak.

Hi, the laptop works fine. I removed the mouse receiver when I went traveling with my pc and when I returned and put it in again, the mouse stopped working. When I put the receiver in the USB slot, it does make a noise that it is recognized but thats it. Is there a way to manually try and connect things like through hardware devices or something?
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 11 жыл бұрын
Have you tried using different USB ports? If the mouse (or any other device) doesn't work in any USB port, then it's possible something happened to it's entry in the Registry, or that the PC Chipset driver needs to be updated.
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 11 жыл бұрын
Can you try plugging them into a different USB port? Also, can you go into Device Manager and do a driver rollback on them?
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 13 жыл бұрын
@Pedroxpvista Ok. I think the problem then is that your key pad is "off" so that the keys aren't pressing the correct spots. This can happen pretty easily, which is why I rarely open a keyboard. Your BIOS sees the keyboard because the transmitter from the keyboard to the PC is functioning. All your keys are offset though so it seems like the keyboard doesn't work.

Are you saying that your X key keeps adding Xs even when you don't press it? If so, it could be you have a stuck key or that something was spilled on the keys. I'm not sure what keyboard you have, but some keyboards you can pop the keys off and check under it for anything that may be causing a problem. Don't pop them off though if you don't know you can put them back on.
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 11 жыл бұрын
Did it used to work? Did anything happen before it stopped working? It's possible this is a hardware failure, but you could try disconnecting the mouse, restart the PC, and then reconnect it to see if that fixes it. Or you could go into Control Panel, then view by "Large icons" rather than category, and then select "Mouse". There may be a setting in here that can take care of the issue.
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 11 жыл бұрын
Did you by chance make any changes to your registry? Have you tried other USB devices in the ports to make sure it's not an issue with the USB ports? If it's the ports, you may be able to fix it by updating the chipset driver. If it's the registry, you may be able to fix it by running a system restore to roll your PC setting back to what they were before this happened.

Hi, all the USB ports do the same thing. (showing HID compliant mouse) I think the first time I got it going, it was just plug and play with no set up needed. My keyboard and mouse were working perfectly fine yesterday, and now they both are lagging at what seems to be the same time. Im assuming low batteries wouldnt be a problem unless its coincidentally low on both the keyboard and mouse. I will try the steps provided in this video, but I am just curious, will a virus ever effect a wireless mouse and keyboard? Everything else is working fine on my computer, nothing is slow or lagging, other than the keyboard + mouse.

Hi guys, Ive got a Radius wireless mouse with a very small receiver with no signal button on it. After taking the receiver out and replacing it in a week later has caused everything to stop working. Under the mouse itself there is an off and on button and a small insert for the receiver. I am trying to restore my Dell Mini10 travel laptop but this is also not working for some reason. Any tips on how I can try to connect things again? (batteries are new)

Usually when this happens it's because the wireless signal from the mouse is too weak or dropping. It could also be that mouse is failing. Have you tried putting in new batteries? Moving your mouse closer to the PC or taking the mouse off of a shiny surface. Sometimes the surface that the mouse is on can also cause the signal to drop.
@HPComputingSupport
@HPComputingSupport 12 жыл бұрын
When a mouse starts to have problems, it's generally the batteries, the surface it's on, or the hardware. The optical "laser" on the bottom controls how the computer views what the mouse is doing. So if the laser is having trouble or if the mouse buttons are failing, it can cause the mouse to not work correctly, like you are running into. If I suspect it's hardware, I try to use another mouse just to rule it out. If the problem persists with another mouse, it could be driver or PC related.

Did you try the steps in the video? If the lag is happening to both the mouse and keyboard, it could be you have them too far away from the PC or that something is blocking or interfering with the signal. Another possibility could be that your PC has some kind of process running that is taking the resources or causing trouble for your PC.
