It sorta makes sense: if you walk towards Ukiki, they maintain distance by also walking instead of running away. Without it Ukiki would "stutter run" away where they're close enough one frame but not for a few after that. The animation would look super odd, and making Ukiki proportional to Mario fixes that. But obviously this was never intended for Mario moving at BLJ speeds.

Well, most stars aren't affeccted from restricting the A button, so showing a separate video for every star wouldn't be very interesting. @@davinchristino Well, "has developed" fast. It seems like nobody has ideas for any remaining B presses. The remaining presses are grabs that have to be punches, and Mips that has nothing around to do a dive grab (even if you could somehow utilize the outdoor cannon, it requires 120 stars). I guess the only way to save presses would be finding a way to loot King Bob-omb's star without fighting him somehow, find a way to glitch bowser into a defeated state or some kind of credits warp, or find another way to do a b-less grab that also works on mips.

I could’ve sworn I was tripping having watched some rendition of this video like 3 different times over the last like couple weeks. But I was never paying enough attention to notice the new strats. So FINALLY with this version I looked at the comments before watching. Because either I was oblivious to some long-con meme in the community or I was oblivious to some amazing strat development, but I was gonna figure it out this time. And can I just say, holy crap. This is amazing that so many developments have been made I think literally just this year. Like I knew Ukiki would be broken eventually, but I swear I remember people talking about it being “definitely the next one to fall” for YEARS (used to be a big fan and viewer of SM64 TAS and speedrun years ago and only recently coming back to it, also WMotR fell first, if I’m remembering and reading the comments correctly? That’s also incredible). I’m so impressed to see mechanics and barriers like this finally falling in games! Props to nim and pannen for the Ukiki strat development and TASing, this is beautiful.

I love seeing games get cracked open like this. And it genuinely feels like anyone who does challenge videos like "IS IT POSSIBLE TO BEAT SONIC 1 WITHOUT COLLECTING A SINGLE RING?!?" is just trying to piggyback off of the genuinely inspiring work put through to get this to happen.
