They're still feeling aftershocks from that breakdown to this day in Russia.

Fucken aye right... Probably the single most awesomest performance ever. Pantera fed off that crowd like Carole baskins tigers fed off her ex husband. They melted the remnants of the iron curtain that day. It gives me goosebumps every single time I see this video and it's often.

I had the immense honour of seeing Pantera live as my first ever concert back in '94 at the ripe old age of 17. This was before heroin had gotten a hold of Phil and those live shows began to suck. So I guess I got to see them at their peak. I even caught one of Rex's picks.
@dustyrhodes16555 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah. I was lucky enough to be on the I-20 corridor when they were earning their stripes. Seen them 3 times whem they were only really regionally known and twice when they were who we all know them to be. Precious memories.

Imagine, this is 1991!!! You had so many avenues to turn to unlike today. Just think for those who were not old enough to remember, Metallica, Sound Garden, NIN, Rage against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden still going strong at that time, Ozzy who was still a beast at that time coming out of the seventies, LiVE, Typo Negative, Tool, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Korn , Alice In Chains, Guns in Roses, etc. the list goes on and on
@jimbodavis19445 жыл бұрын
I think about this all the time. This was my prime. I was 11 years old in 1991. I feel lucky I was born when I was because of the 80s, the 90s, etc. I can't imagine being 20 years later with today's music climate. There's great music out now, but the era is nowhere near the magic of the time you describe; history was being made. I just don't get that FEELING today...

The guitar player and drummer were brothers that went to a local high school. They played in a local bar called Savvys as a glam rock group before this. As they morphed into the Pantera you see here, I ran into a former member who left because he thought they never would make it. He had taken one of those bartending courses and was making drinks in a strip club when they played the Russian gig you see here.
