I sell and aslo apply ceramic coatings to yachts in South of France, to remove we use a chemical solution whose base components are Ammoniumhyrdodgen fluorid and Citric Acid. We apply and leave it on the ceramic coating overnight then wash off in the morning. It removes any ceramic coating very easily!!

Ah thanks Chris! It means a lot to get such kind feedback from viewers like you!! I work really hard to produce these videos (each one can take 10-15 hours to produce) and to make sure everyone can understand how we do things, because when people understand they can duplicate the steps at home with all the confidence needed to accomplish a detailing task. 👍🏻

@@PanTheOrganizer The art of teaching and making it simple is to really know thoroughly and inside out what you are talking about in the first place. It leads to quality and clarity of communication. It takes someone who genuinely sees it all as an ongoing lifelong field of learning who get excited and passionate about knowing more to apply what you know for its own sake. Pan has this in spades. And he communicates his passion in his area of expertise and passes on his genuine LOVE of the world of detailing and the hopes we too all can find our own level of experimentation and know-how as we go along ..... Pan gives us so much in a world of organised detail even with the links who has made it an entry-level for everyone which is also part of his goal and appeal and there are entire areas and programmes that answer any gaps in some areas we may have .... I myself get excited trying some old school polish and waxes and some ceramic and graphene sprays and I am excited for I can text next year ... There is always something in my Amazon basket now in the UK from Turtlewax Pro. or Gyeon or Auto Glym Or Mequires or Adams or Mothers or Sonax something Car Pro just to try it in passing on my Navy Blue Metalic BMW hard top convertible.... My latest thing in my list os the Turtlewx Graphene tyre spray coating after a proper tyre prep degrease and clean.. to think I started as a student with some washing up liquid through PS Break Buster and tyre paint with a brush in a tin! I have come along way.... ... Pan is becoming part of the family here as a familiar face .... he is so positive and relaxed and easy to listen to it is quite infectious as I have him on visual in the corner with amazon and basket and all ..... I doubt anyone else would have made me so far..... I for one am enjoying. journey here in the UK..... Actually found. I was so upset with Her Majesty the Queen passing the first thing I did after a few days shock for therapy was detail my car... which includes some glue remover to take a label off and put on a silhouette of her Majesty the Queen in white on the back window and a Steof Paddington bear in the window with a sign saying " God Save the King ".. works for. me... we are all in shock here ... and folks in black..... .. We all have ways of coping.... Mine has been some classical music as not in mood to play The Beatles and to detail my car .... It works.I am feeling better : )) Detailing is an art and a science like gardening....... Something flipped in me from a weekend warrior to noticing people's ceramics and guessing what products they may use on their cars a few months ago .. Things I would never have known even a few months ago! Enjoying the journey!! Pan is the best.... he's the friendliest the most comprehensive and most organised and I love the UK links ... I keep seeing reviews on Amazon UK.. " I saw this product on Pan the Organiser and thought I would try it " That in itself is a full vote of confidence in my book. someone just saying that. Amazing what I learn on this. As I sit down a lot of online type and teach a lot I LOVE my practical modes....of cleaning my car and Pan is singlehandedly turned it into an art form and a science for me..... In Pan We Trust : ))

Your timing of this video is so perfect for me, THANK YOU! I have used Armor Shield ceramic coating on my cars as I am an enthusiast but have gotten into detailing for the last four years. My son’s black 05’ Lexus ES 330 is an “outside car” that lives in the driveway. After two years of the coating with every 3 months getting a ceramic spray to help keep it alive, the flat surfaces are starting to loose their hydrophobic properties as well as the surfaces have a lot of contaminants (tree sap, stuff, etc.). I was told never to clay but not why. I tried Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover last weekend to get the little spots off and while they all got smaller, they were still there. What I did notice was all of the flat surfaces were holding the water and none of it was beading or sheeting quickly. While the horizontal surfaces all still look great and bead water like crazy, I think it’s time for a polish and re-coat. Again, thank you for answering these questions that I have been wondering for the last two years since I applied my first ceramic coating! Really helpful!
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
To answer your question, you don't clay an existing coating because a clay bar is an abrasive, and by claying you run the risk of damaging the coating's surface and hence the properties. That's why we do more chemical decontamination on coatings, with maintenance shampoos or alkaline snow foams, iron removers, etc. When a coating starts to show signs of weakness, you could wash the vehicle, decontaminate chemically, use an IPA to prep the surface, and apply a fresh layer of the SAME coating. Or, if you want a clean slate, or want to change coating brands for something new, you could do a full wash and chemical decon, claybar, and then machine polish for 100% removal and getting a clean slate to work with, IPA wipe and then apply a fresh coating to restart from scratch.

Fantastic video, Pan. Thank You as always for thoroughly explaining the methods on how to remove a coating. I coated My Vette and My Dad's car in September and October 2020. The vette is garaged and is still going strong. Pops car is decent, but fading. Csl/exo on both. Pops car sits outside yet is washed frequently to keep it clean and sealed with Topper/Drying aid/C2V3(depends which one I feel like using). I'd planned to use Perfect Finish on Pops car, then csl/exo again as He loves it! He's amazed how it shines and beads far longer than any wax He's seen in 79 years! Thank You again!

Very informative video Pan explaining the proper steps at removing an unwanted coating. Would you suggest perhaps using a 3000 grit Trizact sanding disc and would it be effective? I saw recently it being used at removing oxidation and water spots with ONR as the lubricant. This product looks super easy to work with and would love to get more hands on experience to feel more comfortable sanding painted surfaces.

Pan I always get geeked out when you deep dive. I listened to every word and I 💯 agree with you. Mother Nature is dishing out a lot of pain to paint so coatings are essential to protecting our rides. I have no idea who coined the phrase layers of protection but layering protection is how I personally protect rides. I coat then top with a coating topper then use a drying aid and then top monthly or more often with wax. Thank you for an awesome video Pan!

Thanks Pan! After finding your channel months ago, I got into home detailing after taking delivery of my new car. With the help of your videos, I applied my first ceramic coating, CarPro CQuartz 3.0 UK on a few cars now! I've found that the flash time for the 2nd layer is usually very fast compared to the first layer and can cause issues if you do not level it within 30 seconds (or if you don't catch a high spot within a minute in bad lighting) Eventually, I basically had to re-do sections of an entire vehicle because there were high spots in a lot of panels so I had to spend a few hours with the DA polisher and compound and then re-applying the coating.

@@PanTheOrganizer On the driveway of my house, in Toronto so the humidity and climate is similar to Montreal. I try to work on shady afternoons but generally very warm 25-30C. I've learned a lot from your videos ans other detailer but there's nothing better than doing it yourself and learning from mistakes...even though some mistakes cost hours of time to correct :) On a side note, I use TW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wax as a top coat, I saw your review on it. It seems quite good as a topcoat, it was either that or P&S Beadmaker. My hope is that it'll help with the winter road grime and salts in the winter. It has definitely helped removing bug guts. I've started doing interior and exterior detailing for my friend's cars too! In your opinion, for a daily driven car that you intend on keeping, do you believe in annual rustproofing (Krown, etc) for climates such as QC and ON? Thanks!

I always get excited when I see you posted another video. I recently put Ammo Reflex Pro on my car. It is an enamel coating not a ceramic coating. Beautiful hydrophobic properties. The car is garaged and I assume I will get at least a year or more out of it. When it comes time, would I have to remove it maybe with a polish paint correction? Also, if it has contaminates on it, could I use an ultra fine clay bar on an enamel coating?

Excellent details as always re ceramic coatings. Find myself in the midst of a topic you partially covered. There are likely many of us. Originally there were inexpensive spray on Ceramics that were decent like Mothers spray on. Will really good prep, random orbital polishing, iron removal, alcohol steps this spray on was super easy and had very decent results. Then Ammo came along a clear upgrade. Sooooooooooo in a scenario like this how to prep the car to apply the Ammo? I have random orbital the right pads and Maguiars polishing compounds available. My guess is the Ammo would be fine on top of a partially prepared but not virgin finish on a well maintained garage queen?

I buffed and polished my truck and then I began a touch up job for rock chips. It's been weeks since I started the touch up job since it rains every time I want to work on the touch up. I figure something like TW ceramic spray is better than nothing at all. I wanted to coat the paint since summer is almost here and slowly work on all those rock chips. I don't believe the touch up paint would stick to a coating, so I need to remove the coating. It's also black and was truly horrid after 20 years. It is looking far better and you're videos have helped me with my truck!

My question is how would you go about removing Ceramic/Graphene from Glass safely. I feel compound or sanding would potentially scratch the glass
@PanTheOrganizer

Use a dedicated glass polish and glass pad, like in my glass polishing tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r37MZoOqrtaIf5o And FYI, glass is much harder compared to paintwork, so glass is also more difficult to scratch compared to paint.

Pan - LOVE your videos. You are a true master of your craft - I share your passion. I just got a new SUV in metallic orange and I'm planning on getting most if not all of the vehicle coated with ClearGuard Ultra PPF. The local shop offers Modesta ceramic coating as well and I'd like to get the PPF coated. Was going to do my car in the Adams Advanced ceramic coating until I can get the appointment for PPF next year (they have a long wait list). After seeing this I think I'm going to keep a nice carnauba coat on it till I can get PPF! I've used the Griots Garage Complete Compound and Complete Polish to correct the paint and wash it weekly with the Griots shampoo and pre-wash foam (loved your review). Of course she is garage kept and well pampered. (Yes I name my cars...) I've already done the wheels in the Adams Advanced after following your prep advice - looks great. Using Griots Best of Show carnauba liquid wax. SO - your opinion please... What do you think of all vehicle PPF done by a top shop? My concerns are scratches, rock chips, malicious keying, etc. - otherwise I'd stick with just a coating. Would my self applied Adams Advanced coating over the PPF be similar to the professional Modesta coating or is there a benefit to the Modesta that would make it worth the cost?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
Hi! First, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate them! Congrats on your new SUV. What make and model is it? To inspire you, I did a customer's orange SUV a few years ago, at my previous house, in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4WyiHeqd51qsKs First, good move in not applying a ceramic coating before getting PPF'ed. It would have been an expensive removal job for the detailer to spend time polishing the surface to ensure 100% removal of the previous coating. So using a simple carnauba wax until you get the film installed is a good move. I haven't tried the Griot's one though. But Griot's in general makes excellent consumer grade products so it should be more than fine. For PPF, if you're concerned about ultimate protection against rock chips, swirls and scratches, it's the only option. So yes by all means, go ahead and have your vehicle wrapped with PPF from a shop that knows what they're doing. And yes, for the best of both worlds, have them apply a ceramic coating on top of the PPF. That way, you'll get gloss, slickness, UV protection and the self-cleaning properties that coatings are known for, and it will make cleaning your SUV a lot easier and more enjoyable with a coating. Consumer grade coatings (i.e. the Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating) cost much less, can be applied DIY, don't require specialized equipment (IR curing lamps) or training (certified installers) to be applied, but tend to not last as long or have as much chemical resistance as professional grade coatings. So it's a question of budget and your needs. If you can swing it financially, by all means have a pro grade coating applied like a Roar Coating, Modesta, Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra, Opti-Coat Pro+, or the pro versions of CarPro, Gyeon, etc. All top tier picks. If you don't have the budget, or enjoy doing things the DIY way, there's nothing wrong with the Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating. It's still fairly new to the market so nobody has had the chance to test it for 3+ years yet, but so far so good on my girlfriend's SUV which we coated with that in October of 2021. I hope this helps!

@@PanTheOrganizer The vehicle is a Land Rover Discovery in Namib Orange metallic over black leather. 22" wheels with the air suspension. I'll probably have the ceramic coating done by the PPF installer if it's a better protectant. I've been using 303 protectant for the interior and seats - seems to work well without looking shiny but I'm open to trying other products. Recently switched to the Adams Graphene Tire dressing which I like a lot better than 303 on the tires. Basically I want the best protection I can find. Do you think the Adams ceramic leather and interior coating would be a good option or wait for the ceramic installer to do the interior as well? I'm new to the ceramic products but it sounds like it might be a better option for the interior than 303. Congrats on the Porsche 911 by the way! Such a beautiful car - a work of art. Hi Good day Pan, thank you for another informative video..What procedures or polishing methods do you use to remove high spots from a professional grade coating?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
There is no other solution but to machine polish the high spots. Unless you're lucky enough to spot the high spot within 30 min or 1 hr of the coating being applied, at that point, just reapply a some fresh coating on top of the high spot and wipe immediately and it works to remove the high spot if you're lucky. Beyond that, you'll have to machine polish.

Beginning at minute 18:45 you say, that if an existing ceramic is still okay but lower performance...i do not need to polish! Perfect decontermenation is enough and i can layer another ceramic...? First time i hear that. Everybody says, NO WAY! the hood will be milky, not a good bonding...sometthing like that. I am confused now. Next spring, after 2 years, i wanted to install a new ceramic. Car pro uk 3.0 with gliss on top is still working but it subsides. No problems wirh swirls or high spots. Paint is very well. It would be very good if i do not need to polish, only propper decontermenation and install another ceramic coating.😊

Very good video on explaining ceramic coatings. I have a question, have you done any or the self healing ceramics coatings and what do you think of them? I’m referring to the ones that when the coating gets scratched and the only thing you have to do is heat it with a heat gun and the scratches disappear.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
There aren't that many self-healing ceramic coatings on the market yet. The only one I know of from a reputable brand is the Zipang Coat from Kamikaze. Ultra high end stuff. I have it, but haven't had the time to fully explore the self-healing side of it, as that would require intensive testing over many months. And I would need a test panel, as no customer would accept to receive scratches on their finish hehe. But like anything, those coatings are meant more for VERY light micro-marring or scratch self-healing. VERY minor defects. They won't heal from a key job, or huge deep scratches on the paint, or stone chips, etc. And the self-healing ceramic coatings aren't yet at the technological level of self-healing PPF (paint protection film) which has been around for longer. My question is: once put on a ceramic coating, if after a while swirls and small scratches should appear, can I still use a compound or a polish over the bodywork to remove swirls and scratches? if yes, can I use them over the ceramic coating and, maybe, reapply it after? and if not, how do I remove the swirls or small scratches if I can't use the polisher? Last question (but this is a bit out of topic here), a ceramic coating can also be passed over the uprights (I mean the painted ones). Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience. Have a good day.

If it has been a few days, the curing process is already under way. You will have to machine polish that section with a light polish, use the paint prep spray, and reapply the coating on that section. But don't wash the vehicle for at least 7 days after the coating application, as you wouldn't want to hurt the rest of the coating on the vehicle. After a week, you can address the issue.

If you got almost a year out of it, that is awesome! At that point, wash the car, and feel with your fingers the lower parts of the door panels and lower parts of the car and see if you have contamination. If you feel grit or sand-paper like texture, it means you have contamination and should do an iron remover followed by a clay bar. Most likely, if you haven't done any decon in the past year, it's due for a full wash, decon, and fresh application of the protection.

You wouldn't polish a ceramic coated car. You polish BEFORE you apply the coating. But to answer your question, hand polishing is possible, but you will spend WAY more energy and you'll never achieve the same level of results as with a proper machine polisher, for obvious reasons.

We live at an intersection and also next door to a smog inspection shop and have a lot of iron and soot on our vehicles and wonder what you would recommend for surface protection on our vehicles. Our white Ford Escape is real bad and in my opinion, the paint/clearfinish is about shot so I would like to find a coating that is best for a worn out finish and protect from future iron/acidic soot deposits. It's not worth a repaint. I want to do this DIY and have seen your videos on Adams advanced graphene ceramic coating and I have all the tools needed. Thanks!

Hey Pan great video.. have you ever heard anything on how long you should wait to coat a vehicle that is brand new from the factory? I have heard everything from you can apply immediately to you should wait 90 days

You can immediately start protecting a new car as soon as you take delivery. The paint is already fully cured from the factory in their ovens. When I buy a new car, I detail it right away. The only time you wait 1 or 2 months is on a repainted vehicle (after damage from an accident for example) as body shops don’t have the same ovens as the car manufacturers.

Awesome content! Crystal Serum light 30mil bottle, would tht be a 1 year coating?

Thanks Correy! Gtechniq advertises Crystal Serum Light as a 3 to 5 year ceramic coating. Durability, like for any coating, depends on a variety of factors like application, conditions the car is exposed to, maintenance, climate, etc.

Hello Pan, très instructif, car on a tendance à promouvoir la pose, jamais la dépose. J'ai eu des frissons lorsque j'ai vu le papier émeri se rapprocher de la Porsche 😉👍👍👍👍

Pan what do you think of icon rocklear coating ? I’ve seen videos where they show 20 microns thick coating and they show it’s actually scratch resistant , I am skeptical about it as it’s been out years but no one is talking about it. Also I noticed on a couple of ceramic coating manufacturers in the description they put. Water beading lifespan 18 months and paint protection 3 years , so they basically saying don’t judge a coatings lifespan on water behaviour

Great and informative video! I've got a question though. I recently purchased a used car which has a 2-4 year old professional grade coating on it . The surface of the car has a lot of swirls smaller scratches which are visible in harsh direct sunlight. I want to polish the car to remove some of theese defects and portentially restore some gloss. Will i be able to get a good result, even if i dont remove the coating entirely? Is it possible to polish a coating? Or will it just leave more defects in the coated surface until all the coating is gone?

You never polish coatings as that mechanical friction/abrasion from the polishing compound and pad will strip the coating. There is one polish that is specifically designed to correct very minor marring on coatings, and it’s CarPro Essence+ (not the regular Essence). But that is only for VERY light defects. In your case it seems you’ll have to machine polish the entire surface to correct the defects and then use a paint prep spray to remove polishing oils and reapply a new ceramic coating.
