@@Inpreesme exactly what I was thinking, I’d rather get a £30 one with a long attachment, then cut it down and heat the nozzle so I can make a flatter end, that way I can use it like air-blade and it should take less time to dry the car again, and I still wouldn’t have spent the cost of the stubby nozzle never mind the blower itself which I’d hate to see the price of 😂🍺

My Apex stubby was from the first batch of 500 sold. There was quite a bit of play with the 650 so I ended up using some friction tape and it's quite difficult to remove. My only complaint is that one of the springs / metal parts on one the clips came loose last summer but I was able to pop it back in place in without much effort. Unless something breaks or becomes useless I rather doubt I will upgrade to either the latest version or Egos answer to the stubby. Blowerband is a must!

I had also received one of the first units of version 01 as I had put in my pre-order as soon as it came out (I think I was the third to sign up). I too had to put some tape around the nozzle so it wasn't as loose. Version 02 was much better, but still not perfect, but they did improve the spring too. The build quality is top notch, but the price is a bit steep now that we see the price of an EGO version.

To be honest, I kind of feel bad for the Apex Air owner. With the release of this EGO one, I don't see how or why you would pick the Apex Air over it. The EGO is shorter, it looks better, it's less than half the price, it fits better, and I've heard it's quieter. The owner of Apex Air had to have seen this coming when EGO inevitably came out with this. However, without Apex Air, there might not have been enough market pressure on EGO to actually come out with one. Funny how that works.

Yeah I also think it was inevitable that EGO would eventually release their own version when they saw all these companies making some. EGO is not a car detailing brand, so when they released their first leaf blowers, I guess they never thought people would use them to dry their vehicles hehe.

Using an alkaline shampoo such as bilt hamber seems to be the best. But people say it’s far too aggressive. Is it ok to use. And how do you advise to use it ? Thank you

Thanks Drany! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on KZbin as we surpassed 965,000 subscribers and we have over 130 million views! I have been detailing for 26 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing. Using a high pH soap isn’t necessary for regular weekly washes. Once in a while for deeper cleanings and road film removal. And while safe on ceramic coatings, they can strip regular waxes or sealants as those don’t have great chemical resistance like coatings do. I like a high pH snow foam once every few months like at the beginning of spring to remove winter muck and grime. Hi, how long do you feel the batteries last before you need to replace them? Not per use but lifetime?
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
I have had mine for years, and wash my car twice weekly, and use the blower all the time, and I have yet to replace them. They work like new. I have had two EGO blowers (580 and 650) but still have the same 5.0Ah batteries that I first got 5 years ago at this point if memory serves me well. Some have had theirs fail after a year, so it's hard to know exactly how long batteries can last. Same applies for any battery in any application. But EGO does have good warranties on their batteries.

Pan, hey man I recently repainted my Yukon, the clear has fully cured so my plan is to ceramic coat it. I want the best recommendable ceramic coating that’ll bead water like crazy, aswell as be super easy to air blow, what do you recommend?
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
First, for a freshly repainted vehicle, wait 2 full months before applying any paint protection on it. The paint needs to finish its gassing out phase. As far as the ceramic coating, it really depends on many factors, including what you value most and what your budget is. All good coatings will provide hydrophobic properties and self-cleaning properties making the vehicle easier to clean and super easy to dry off with a blower. @@PanTheOrganizer thanks for getting back to me Pan. I am aware of the solvents escaping clear as I am the one who resprayed the vehicle. It’s been over 90 days, the vehicle was resprayed October of last year. Anyways thats irrelevant. What coating was installed on this Porsche? I have a hard time believing Adams is one of the best coatings to this day. As I just watched the video of you washing your wife’s? Nissan Kick I think. I don’t mean to throw shade but I was not satisfied with the sheeting and beads. Like I said I really want the best for this truck since ive been having it since 2015, so money isn’t an issue. I’ve heard that the 650 is a lot louder than either the 580 before or the newer 765. I’m curious if you’ve noticed a difference? I want to pick one up but want the quietest version.
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
I haven’t noticed a huge difference between my previous 580 and my new 650 other than a slightly higher pitch on the 650. I haven’t tested the 765 yet. Regardless of which blower you get, always wear ear protection. So that negates any small differences between blowers anyways. ;)
@olenronning9 ай бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer yeah, it was the higher pitch being the issue I think. Agree, ear protection is important regardless. I also see that now there is a 670cfm model which I think is replacing the 650.

A blower or a drying towel? Why or when would you use one over the other?
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
If you have some sort of paint protection on the paint (wax, sealant or coating), using a blower is the best option as it's the quickest, and it's 100% touchless so zero potential of marring the paint. But a good blower is expensive. If your car has zero protection, a blower isn't good because you need the hydrophobic properties of waxes or coatings to get the water to fly off when blown. Zero protection means the water "sticks" and pools on the paint, and is harder to blow off, so a blower isn't efficient in that scenario. A microfiber drying towel is the less costly option, but more time consuming. And to avoid marring as much as possible, always use a drying aid as a lubricant between the towel and paint.
@jweidenaar9 ай бұрын
Ryobi recently came out with a 220 CFM blower that includes a stubby attachment. It looks adequate to dry the car and the most maneuverable at only $99 for the tool only a great value. The Apex Air at $80 plus tax with the blower band is way overpriced. The ergonomics are better for drying the car than the Ego as well with the handle being more vertical (better for the roof). Looks like this will replace my Metro Vac and Ego blower as my main car dryer.
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
Are you referring to the little 18V One+ compact 220 CFM portable cordless one? It's not available in Canada yet, so I haven't been able to test it. But I doubt it will replace a much more powerful EGO blower. I have seen it in a few videos and although it can do a decent job, I think it's more budget oriented for those who don't want to spend the bigger bucks to get an EGO. It just doesn't have the power or CFM of a bigger blower, that is undeniable. But is it fun and practical and cool? Sure! :) If I can get my hands on one, I'll test it.
@jweidenaar9 ай бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer Yes, I just picked one up today to test it out. My truck has a ceramic coated PPF so it may be all I need and much less cumbersome than my Master Blaster or Ego blower. AND, it gives you a reason to make another video!
@PanTheOrganizer9 ай бұрын
👍🏻 Keep me posted to see if it wors to your expectations.
@jweidenaar8 ай бұрын
I’ve had adequate time to use the Ryobi 220CFM. It performs exactly how you would expect for the power. If you’re in the Ryobi ecosystem I’d recommend it as a convenient supplement to a Master Blaster or EGO, not a replacement. I love the trigger lock feature and ergonomics and will use it regularly. If I was on a budget it would be a good starter blower/dryer, however, it depletes a 4.0 battery with one use.

Interested in knowing if you take off the top cone from the ApexAire and put the green band would it match the height of the Ego Short? Didn’t see link to the green band on your listing Thank you
@beesoffury9 ай бұрын
I’ve got the V1 of the Apex Air so figure it’s similar. You could take off the tip, and it will be shorter, but the problem is the diameter of the nozzle without the tip is now different, which makes it incompatible with the blower band (that green thing). It’s also a hard plastic, so this is a no-go in my book. IMO, I see no reason to get the AA over the official Ego version, especially when the official one is less than half the price. TBH, I used my AA for about a month, then just ended up 3d printing one out of PETG. It’s definitely jankier from a finish quality, however, the fit on my particular blower is perfect. I didn’t care for how loose the AA was. It never came off in operation, but I still didn’t care for it.
