Only just learned of this today, after the unpleasant experience of finding my tub of sunflower seeds had turned into a whole ecosystem 🤢

I eventually found a nest in a bag of extremely spicy chilli flakes. I would imagine the spice would kill them but nope, apparently they love the stuff.

Once the moths have infested your pantry you have to throw everything out, including spices and unopened boxes/bags...they’ll find their way into EVERYTHING. Throw it all away; deep clean & sanitize your pantry. Then go out and buy a good pantry container system. Store the food in sealed containers and you should be fine. Never store food in a box or bag.

It would have been interesting to see what that neat looked like if you took it out of container. Of course contained inside of a one gallon ziploc bag.

Jesus… that’s an extreme one!! I got my infestation from a bag of outdoor bird food nuts I had brought into my kitchen to feed the blue jays out back.. there was silk stuff all in the bag and didn’t know what it was. 🤢

I have an irrational fear of them. They fly so silently and flutter around. I don't know why, but it REALLY scares me. context: I'm English. We don't have many harmful insects in the UK. No mosquitos or roaches to speak of. So we get scared by seemingly harmless things XD

Glass jar with almonds for me lol. I was craving almonds one night, went to our pantry to check if we have any and in the deep corner i found some, and to my surprise it was full of larvae and moths inside. i almost burned down the whole house

3 bags of rice for me and also waffle mix. After I saw the “rice” moving, I didn’t eat for 3 days. Disgusting!!!!

Bag of rooster brand rice that an old roommate bought and left. Didn’t actually find the name of these stupid things until the other day .. throwing away basically all of the food and spices in the cupboard and doing a good wipe down with bleach. These fucking moths amaze me with the spots in which they hide .. ugh

Larvae are quite small; this tube doesnt look very sealed so they can crawl through smallest holes
