Thank you! I’ve read a great deal, but this is the clearest explanation I’ve seen of the distinction between adenomas and hyperplasia. As in the case you describe, my parathyroid disease was first recognized by an internist. At follow-up after removal of a double adenoma, I asked the endocrinologist (at a major university hospital) why the pathology report said nothing about finding or not finding a rim of normal tissue, and was told that the distinction between adenomas and hyperplasia is an old notion that has been abandoned. That didn’t sound right to me… Your explanation why recovery can take time is also helpful; too many sources set up unrealistic expectations.

My doctor keeps telling me my low vitamin D makes calcium high but she must’ve run her own studies because nobody else seems to think so! Time for a new doctor I think 😢

I'm in WA. I have calcium oxalate in my urine for months (since June), so much fatigue, pain. My TSH went from 3 to 0.01 so maybe hyper but had an ultrasound and the radiologist notes said "unable to rule out parathyroid adenoma" and 2 hypoechoic, round nodes that are very small on the right side. I have pain on the right side. Losing work hours. Feel desperate. Have to wait for an endocrinologist appointment that is months away.

I know this is what’s wrong with me. If it’s not then I have no idea. But I just keep being given pills. Take these NO! Zero help in my area here in CT. 😤

I agree. Talk to Dr to get off med slowly. Can mess with heart!

How common is it to get another adenoma? My calcium is now 2.5,pth 3.3 And how long does it take for anxiety/ depression to ease ? Thankyou
