I'm going in for surgery in 6 weeks. I really appreciate this detailed illustration and description of the anatomy and surgical process! I had one or two PTH adenomas removed in 2010 and am needing revision surgery. It was I who noticed lab abnormalities suggesting the problem and pushed for referral to an endocrinology surgeon who specializes in PTH; neither my primary care physician nor my nephrologist nor the endocrinologist I see for osteoporosis felt there was an issue. We should not have to figure this out for ourselves and then move mountains to get treatment.

I read that vitamin K too lowers blood calcium so is that a good solution versus surgery? Are we talking about two different things here. Thank you.

The radiologist in the hospital said he could not see the parathyroid gland from the ultrasound. He was doing a biopsy of my thyroid. He said I needed a nuclear medical thyroid scan. I have nodules on my thyroid glad. I have all the symptoms of hyper parathyroid. What test should I ask for or consider when I go to an endocrinologist? Thank you

Female, age 77 aWFPB 26 months, weight 112, height 5’ 2” Beginning October 2023 Vitamin D25 was low (23). Since 2019 blood calcium is very high normal 10. PHT has creeped up to 75. Am I looking hyperparathyroidism, and surgery? I have had osteopenia for several years and have taken Reclast infusions but seems that it’s stood working and the endocrine doctor wants me to take another similar treatment (injections). All other bloodwork is perfect. I don’t take any prescription drugs. Do you recommend anything that I can do vs potential surgery? I don’t take calcium but do exercise a lot. I have no symptoms

I had mildly raised HPTH and normal calcium incl 24 hour calcium. For a period of 5 months i had severe constipation, high Blood Pressure and severe heartburn. My symptoms resolved when my PTH level s dropped. The level of PTH is still dropping. Is this worth investigating. I am on prolia.

My D3 was normal until my October 2023 blood test. My PT and calcium blood test have been borderline high for the past four years.. I didn’t understand what all this meant until watching this video and a few others? my primary care physician kept saying that most people have a low D3 blood test result and my blood calcium range has been 9.8 to 10.4 up-and-down for the last few years. I’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis recently and previously had been taking Reclast (calcium) Infusion, which was helping a lot until now. So if it turns out that I need to have parathyroid surgery, I’m OK with that.. What worries me if more than one gland needs to be removed. Therefore, I am stressed out and worried. I am 77 years old., the mail, and vegan that doesn’t eat any animal products or animal byproduct. I endocrine doctor has ordered some blood test which are heading in the direction of requiring surgery at some point and I’ll know more this coming week. Is there anything you can tell me to quiet my worry and fear. Thank you
