I cant even imagine having to send my Son who is 14 now to school in America. What a terrifying thought alone! In Germany, school schootings, guns etc isnt a thing. Metal detectors, schools being locked up during school hours, children being taught what to do if a psychopath enters their school with any weapon wanting to murder them.......thats just completely unfathomable! Its just heartbreaking to know what is going on in the US and over the years, nothing really changes. Fear plus learning....those two words dont go hand in hand. I hope the new generation will be able to change things🕊

My heart breaks for these families again and again. Fred, Manuel, Max, the other parents who's names are not as familiar. The survivors who still are out there each and every day trying to find a way to end this type of tragedy, David, Cameron, Emma, Lauren, the rest of the brave young men and women who stopped being children on Valentine's Day 5 years ago. I think Max is correct, have the politicians walk through that building with him before it's destroyed, make them see the impact of their own inaction, or active opposition to gun safety. Alex's dad reminds me of the scene of the movie "Im not Ashamed" a movie of Rachel Scott a victim of the Colombine HS shooting. In that scene u see the mom going into her daughters room with a box, she puts the box on top of her daughters bed and slowly opens it and takes out the backpack and you can see the bullet holes on the bottom. The real backpack is still hunged up on her room in her dads house. Heartbreaking.

No, let him live a very long life sitting in a cell, each and every day knowing that HE is the cause of his circumstances. Had Cruz made a different choice the children and staff would be alive and no one would have the slightest idea of the pain they would feel. Besides, life in prison is less expensive than the death penalty, tax payers are on the hook for the costs of appeals that death row inmates are entitled to, plus there is a notoriety that being a death row inmate creates that Cruz does not deserve. Let him rot in prison, forgotten, simply a footnote.

One of the problems that I see is that we have created these dangerous areas as a result of legislating, Gun Free Zones.’ if we look at the scene of major mass shootings, we will note that these have occurred in common sense gun free zones, which can include schools, movie, theaters, grocery stores, shopping centers, college campuses, or any other place that has the gun free zone, decal, or sign on their property. Criminals fully understand that honest people will not have a means to defend themselves in these gun free zones. Criminals cam create havoc in the zones without the likelihood of retaliation by the victims. We see no mass shootings and gun stores. We must begin looking at legislation aimed at on those people, and pay more attention to the criminal. We also must need to determine if our common sense legislation is creating dangerous situations.

I understand the families and empathize with them, but I also feel for that cop. You can say he was a coward, but I say he was probably just human. 99 out of a 100 civilians would also flee and honestly, probably a quarter of every policemen or policewomen would also flee in that situation, most people just haven't been in a situation like this, in fact, most police never even fire their guns during their career. This is just an estimate taken out of thin air, maybe it's 10% that would flee, maybe it's even half, point is, I've seen tougher looking, tougher acting people, flee like little girls at a bar fight, and that's human. You may think you are a figther when you are a fligther. To say "every police should be brave" is ignorant, you never really know until you are in a serious sitaution, and this man learned about himself the hard way. Look, I really do feel for the families, but I cannot blame a person for doing a human thing, police or not.

This was a tragedy in our community maybe that's why I'm so bothered that a reporter would think it's appropriate to wear an outfit showing off her legs in a short skirt as if she's interviewing an entertainment piece. I'm focused on his message but all you see is reporter in her look at my legs moment. Many of us wouldn't be able to dress like that in a professional atmosphere let alone in front of a camera with a shot up her legs talking about a mass murder at a high school! Good job Mr. Schacter unfortunately a selfish reporter stole the spot light.

My honest and constructive suggestion to this horrible and heinous crime: America should change the bill of rights and abolish the law wich allows each American citizen to buy and to own a weapon for ' self defense'. Only policemen and soldiers should being allowed to own , to wear and to use firearms in case of a life threading situation on the scene. America should make the best possible level of education accessible and approachable without charging parents. The more foreign languages, arts, maths, history, politics, geography young students can learn, the better their outcomes if it comes to an argument. They can make better points instead of becoming physical violent. That will change society.
