As someone with C3 hair, that hair is beautifully cared-for. If you wanna see those curls in a bad state you will see them frizzy and wild, or greasy and lank. That hair is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 GORGEOUS and I am sick to death of everybody acting like if our hair aint carbon copies of the Kardashians then we ain't giving care. Baby girl your hair is beautiful, dont you ever listen to these trash tramps. That goes for all my sisters with curls 💜

Agreed. I've got the pretty average white girl hair you typically see (not at all curly, maybe a bit wavy at times) and I'm usually rocking a sock bun that's frayed at the ends or a ponytail... funny how no one ever tells me that my hair looks unprofessional or unkempt or not "neat" yet someone like this girl, who probably has tons of work going into keeping her hair healthy and looking good (definitely way more time/effort than I put into my messy sock bun) gets those words. And by "funny" I mean "pretty damn rude/insulting/racist" because we damn well know what was meant by those words. That being said, totally agree that this girl's hair is gorgeous. Reminds me of one of my best friends. She has hair like this and SO pretty, whether she gets it straightened or wears in natural.

Gracias for including Non Black sisters. I remember my best friend from Guatemala, ironed her beautiful gorgeous very tight curly hair. I've unruly wavy curly hair & frankly I was so happy when my hair began to change. It went from straight in grade school to wavy at the ends & bangs, to full on bouncy wavy curly at 30yrs old WHEN layered ar shoulder length. I have to buy extra moisturizer conditioner to help manage frizz. Padre God be Praised for the unruly wavy hair gives impression that I have alot of hair & nope, its thinning & if straightened, I may as well shave it, lol. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Isa"

@@lkzt5543the show was called Mixed-ish. It's a prequel to Black-ish, about the mom's (the girl whose hair was being discussed) upbringing as a mixed-race child in the 80s. It was only on the air for a couple of seasons, which is unfortunate because I enjoyed it, even though I rarely watched the original.

The scene is definitely not from the 80s. It’s from a series called Mixed-ish that ran from 2019-2022. Having grown up in the 80s, here’s some differences. Yes, big hair was in. The girl in this video has natural hair, which I personally think should be encouraged and it looks very healthy. She didn’t spend hours teasing it and used a half a can of hairspray to hold it in place. A hole in the ozone layer was a concern in the 80s. Likely from fluorocarbons in the hair spray can. For comparison, many Black women use chemicals to straighten their hair or use weaves or extensions. Typical story - those with curly hair want straight hair; those with straight hair want curly hair (White women tend to get perms, etc). Recommend the documentary Good Hair with Chris Rock.

Honestly I haven't had "the talk" but I can't imagine that anybody would want to told their hair is furry. All she had to say was "oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't realize her hair was naturally that curly, of course all that matters is that she takes care of it, which obviously she is doing". That MOM has a problem by expecting a complex. The better response would be to educate the daughter and teacher about black beauty. And teach tolerance, not reactive anger. SO WHAT if others have different standards. True strength of character is when you let the insult go like water rolling off a duck's back. Teach your child to stand tall and ALSO be considerate. If she wants a large 'do' then please sit in the side or back like cowboys and other folk with large hats have to do in movie theaters so others can see around them. I grew up in the 60s when huge afros were the thing. They were beautiful but took up space like a lion's mane. Respect goes both ways✌️ BTW, it was the black girl behind her that had the problem seeing around her. They should trade places.

I am Caucasian, but when that teacher said that the girl's hair needed to be neat, I almost jumped through my screen! Her hair is gorgeous! It looks like she spends a lot of time caring for it, the ends are perfect, the curls are perfect, it is neither overly oily nor dry and frizzy. If I had tight curls I would want them to look like that!💖
