back foot at 65 degrees. don't damage your knees just for the sake of 'tradition' You turned it anyway! legs wider for better hip stability and full spinal extension. refer to Light on Yoga. Namaste!

use yoga block or elevated surface to enable your hand to rest on something firm and with time and more flexible harmstring you will have the elevated surface being lower and lower until you could do the normal exercise
