This album (IRE) and the horizons album you have reacted to is 8 yrs apart.. a lot of things happen and transition between their 2nd & 5th album.. gotta react to crushed, dedicated, fractures & deathless song, all in the same album. The more radio friendly songs attract a wider audience. People who don't even like heavier stuff will listen to them, so they'll tend to have more views.
@RodekkkOnly4 жыл бұрын
The thing is, they got rather big in 2015 and were invited to headline festivals (1h+ setlists) and they apparently quickly realized its not doable to do 1:15 portion of heavy/fast paced songs every other night for 3-4 weeks straight and decided to write these unoriginal "stadium" filler songs to the setlist to catch a break and being somewhat consistent in their performance. Also they stated that they were tired of playing metalcore and didn´t have any motivation to write similiar material (understandable after 10+ years), however the people seem to dig it and they reached a wider audience so good for them I guess. Me personally, I prefer the more original and brutal stuff that got them where they are now.
@klayshotter2 жыл бұрын
I have to say I don’t agree with you but respect your decision, As a musician myself Ii personally am drawn to the more simpler style songs musically like this song vice grip, chronos or crushed for example, in my opinion song like these that are on the more simpler/easier side are more enjoyable to listen to. I much prefer parkway drives music now compared to the earlier stuff.
@hardcoreforlife2314 жыл бұрын

I am completely with you on this from the perspective i have right now. But when i started listening to metal - and PWD was one of the very first bands i listened to - this really really helped me out understanding Winston and screaming in general. If you listen to this kind of music long enough you completely oversee that a song like this is still very hard and loud and not so easily comprehensible for a lot of people that are new to the music. I appreciate that they have songs to bring people in. But i hope those stay the rarer exceptions^^

With IRE Parkway really wanted to hit a whole new sound in each song, and inspire people where they felt inspiration was needed in todays world, while also making the most versatile metalcore album in rock history. I would live a reaction the the album as a whole, it really makes you appreciate everything they shot for in this album.
@daanishafzal51714 жыл бұрын
Most of the Parkway tracks I initially heard were similar to this so I never really gave them a shot. Recently gave deep blue and horizons a spin, much more enjoyable and solid metalcore.
@jakubgodlewski91044 жыл бұрын
I mean that is just a catchy, radio-friendly song, like you said.. it's bound to be more popular, especially since it's from an album that came out when PWD were at the peak of their career. The whole album is softer honestly, not as soft as this, but significantly less heavy than older things or their newest album.

It’s an anthem song, they have a few of these now, The Void and Prey I’d say are the other 2, you have to see them live to because they mix it in between to keep the energy up and get the crowd involved, and I they’ve been a band for 19 or 20 years now, they’ve said before they could make another generic metal album but that would be boring for them so yes they did change but they’ve been trying new things while keeping ties to their roots and for that I continue to have PWD as one of my absolute favorite bands.
@Alexander.904 жыл бұрын
I love this song, but i agree that it's simple in the way the lyrics goes. But the story of the video is actually cool. The whole band skydives from a plane, they did 4 practice dives before recording the 5 dive (The one in the video) and they've never done this before. You should watch their documentary which is on YT (Home is for the heartless). As much as they are musicians, they are also travelers with a huge hunger for new experiences and i think that reflects in this music video.

From a marketing standpoint, bands need that not so heavy/screaming especially for radio play. For example, Killswitch engage, their older stuff when Howard was in the band, they had a lot of songs that were different specifically for radio play and what not but the album version was totally different.

I think the vibe you’re lookin for is the song “Crushed”... Was hooked on it for a good while And not saying ALL bands do this, but a lot of bands that I used to listen to a lot, that were super heavy, a lot of them turn to more main stream sound and it drives me nuts! Asking Alexandria used to have a completely different sound then they do now and I hate it! All That Remains is another band that did it.
@MattJFilms4 жыл бұрын
Used to be a die hard PWD fan, but ever since IRE I haven’t enjoyed them one bit unfortunately. Like many other old fans, their new stuff just comes across as generic radio shit. Doesn’t feel like Winston is pouring his soul into his writing or singing. Really makes you wonder what happened in the 4 years between “Atlas” and “IRE”. Atlas was such an enjoyable album personally. It still had serious head bangers like “Dream Run” or “Swing”, but then they had those really beautiful slower songs like “The River” or “Atlas.” The slower songs were different, but they had that raw, authentic emotion still. I guess it goes back to that old saying of “be happy that old PWD ever happened, instead of dwelling on what PWD became.”

Winston said during this album that they have “matured past metalcore” they still follow this trend in their new album. This band has ascended past metalcore and has become just a bunch of friends jammin out. I believe that songs like these are better than all of their older albums, yes they are not as heavy but these songs show that they have matured from edgy “scremo” type songs to metal Athems
@camoronL4 жыл бұрын
