Great analysis, Bam! It really does feel like there's a higher potential skill ceiling with more advanced tech with simple things like an actual dash state, parry / attack cancels, and even parrying overall. That has me excited to put some time into investigation tbh

I know people complain how characters are “too big” now but it actually helps us SEE the fight more clearly than before.

Yeah there were some models that were exceptionally small. Aria stark, gizmo, Morty, for example where in a 2v2 you can almost lose track of what's happening. I feel like it's not a bad change at all. They may have to raise a couple of platforms and inch or two, that's the worst I can see out of this

They just don't remember how small the old models were, especially when the screen is zoomed out

This is an incredible video. Such an awesome, in-depth, but to the point analysis. Demonstrating why the changes we've seen create more phases of offensive, defensive, pressure, whiff punishing etc, and why that's important was great to see broken down in one video like this. Only thing I'd appreciate would be timestamps. -and making sure the audio tracks are balanced so that I could better hear Bam's voice during the Twitter clips- *Edit* oops, failed to read pinned comment until now.

My number one complaint was the lack of defensive mechanics outside of dodge and run. Almost every problem I had with the game's mechanics stemmed from the lack of defensive mechanics. I just hope this parry doesn't work like Mythra Foresight. It looks like it may. I would rather it be it's own dedicated move.

@@thenefariousvillain That sounds just like Mythra's Foresight. That would be rough. It's already hard enough to chase and punish people down. I would really prefer if they don't buff dodging even more by giving everyone Foresight.

I disagree. It was easy to tell where a move was going and get out of the way for most characters. Except maybe Finn, fuck him. But I found it pretty easy to dodge when I have to and just space out properly otherwise to open a combo when someone whiffs

I would love a simple block, strike, throw RPS. I think it's an easy way to add depth

My first main (now co-main) is Iron Giant. I wonder what he's like given that he can cover alot of air from the ground. Especially since I was more about good neutral than kill conbos.

It's not even that I'm bothered about the game speed, but the characters are a bit too big imo. Speaking purely aesthetically, characters like Garnet and Black Adam look like they're 9 ft tall. It's a bit jarring and breaks immersion.

Bro what immersion is there to begin with? You're not playing mass effect 2 dawg. I do agree on the basis that some stages seem a bit cramped with the current model sizes

Garnet's canon height is like 8 feet tall Immersion comes after gameplay viability, especially for fighters, I mean Olimar is supposed to be smaller than a coin and he certainly isn't lol

I was in top 500 - 50 for multiple characters during the open beta and I had a blast whenever i booted the game up. I think the top players griping about the game was mostly netcode frustrations which hopefully they fixed. I do also hope they take the speed back to where it was, movement felt good idk how it's gonna feel in launch state. i gotta say tho I'm kinda excited to get back to crushing at this game again, I'm optimistic

I agree completely about people trashing the game!! It is not even out and the people who were most loyal to the game are saying it looks bad YOURE NOT CONVINCING OTHER PEOPLE TO TRY IT LIKE THAT!!! If you like the game play it!!! if not just keep quiet and play something else!!!
