These surface exploration episodes are great especially because of all the extra drone recon footage, and when you're hiking around with minimal edits I feel like I'm there with you. Those blue/green rocks and sparkles of galena make me wish I could zoom in for an extreme closeup.

The Porphyry copper deposits in eastern and southern AZ makes these look tiny, take hwy 191 thru mornci-clifton for example...it a bit surprising these weren't converted to open pit mines after the technology improved for extracting low grade ores (IE the surrounding materials)... You may getting more people since its spring break season

That area used to be a practice gunnery range during WW2. The target revetments were covered with black gravel. *Which turned out to be .50BMG bullets. which were weathered. There was a really nice incline that went for about 100' and at the bottom had a vertical shaft with collar, handrail and a ladder at the bottom. If I remember right the incline faced west.

I believe that Swansea, Arizona was named after Swansea, South Wales (UK), due to it's connection with Welsh miners and also to the shipment of copper ore to Swansea, South Wales for smelting. Swansea, South Wales dominated copper production in its heyday, resulting in its alternative name of Copperopolis.

You should get a tethered treaded drone that would fit through bat bars and go into mines deeper and see around corners. God forbid something bad happens, you have the tether that you have strengthened with paracord or something and pull it back home.

That flatland behind the hill that you're viewing, is that where the "town" was located? Neat geology all around in this ancient lava flow area. Now all the Basalt is broken and cracked up from weather: wind/rain events. I like your motto of barbed wire, "the "velvet rope" to adventure". Put that on one of your T-shirts, I'll buy that from your store. Super interesting geological area and I got to see it from your drone work. Thanks for today's explore.

I believe the oldest copper mine was one on the Gila River, roughly halfway between Albuquerque NM and Tucson AZ, operated by the Spanish in the late 1500's. This according to a history book "After Lewis & Clark" by Robert Utley.

Great video again Gly. A thought came to me earlier while listening to your intro. Mines in regions you don’t explore, for example Idaho City, you could do an audio type book on the history of the area. You have an excellent story telling voice. I used Idaho City as an example because I have explored some of that in the past and dredged a little with my Dad up there. Keep up the great work 😎.

The opening of a USPO in the West was a big deal to these towns, and was one of the first things the people who established them wanted. It was a way to get federal recognition. You can date a towns existence by the opening and closing of a post office.

Hi Gly, Is there something wrong with the drone camera? as it seems to be having trouble focusing on most objects. it looks like the resolution is in analogue at times, really blurry alot of the time. Just wondering as I have a Mini3 pro which shoots 4K at 30 frames a sec if I need it. I'm also wondering whether it's my old Dell laptop or the feed I'm getting off KZbin thats the problem!
