In California it is a felony to have to have lights and siren on a private vehicle if it is not owned by a law enforcement agency, if it is a movie prop is required that it must be registered to a production studio and now require a yearly permit with proof of your insurance provider knows about it and it must be transported by a trailer or if you do drive it all of the lights and siren must be removed from the vehicle completely. If you claim it's a classic or historic vehicle it must be 25 years or older. It is now a felony to posses any blue warning lights in you're personal or any private vehicle now. California changed their laws in 2016 on private and film prop law enforcement vehicles due to a rising number. Of police impersonaters using the "prop" car excuse.

You can try websites like Craigslist or Ebay for used equipment or you can get brand new police equipment and lighting direct from police equipment manufacturing companies like Code 3, Whelen, Go Rhino, etc...

You're right. A $500 car with a bad tranny plus thousands of dollars worth of good reusable police equipment just thrown inside. It's amazing how much money is thrown away by the government. Though, as the recipient of all this and as wasteful as this may be, I can't complain in this case. Thank you Gardena Police Department.

Anybody got build ideas for a stripped 08 vic? Been thinking of feneggling in seats from a caprice or some shit. The car is awesome but the seats feel like they'd kill me if my dumbass got in a crash.

That was actually the original video but I cut out A LOT while editing. It was a really long video over a span of 7 days from sunrise to sunset and it was very tedious to film on my own. I just thought it'd be boring to watch if this isn't already.

It's from a local car junk yard. Google search a junk yard in your area I'm sure you can find one. They go for about $20 and you have to pull it out yourself so bring tools.

My car still has the corner strobes installed. What would I need to get them to work again?

Any strobe power supply that fits the connectors on those strobe bulbs. You would then need lengths of wire to go from the bulbs to the power supply, then finally the switch of your choice to go in the cabin. If you know basic electrical wiring, you should be good to go, otherwise I would not recommend you do this yourself.

If you're going to be using the car as a show car / movie car / prop / whatever its fine to use the car on public streets as long as you have something visible on the car like black duct taped X's on all the doors or a "Vehicle Not In Service" or "Film Production Vehicle" sign on the windows so nobody can mistake you for an actual police officer. If you install a light bar on the car and if it has red and blue lenses you will need to cover them up on public streets unless they are clear lenses. I recommend having a kill switch for ALL of the police equipment your installing, one inside the car and one in the engine bay that way when you are using the car on public streets all the police equipment is disabled and if you're pulled over the officer can see that you can't use the equipment illegally . I've never been pulled over and police have seen me several times when I moved cars to and from film productions. If this is your personal daily driver car you should NOT have any of this equipment installed. If you get pulled over and the officer sees it your going to have to explain why you feel you need to have any of that equipment in your personal car.

The car was sold at auction with the majority of the equipment just laying in the back seats and thrown in the trunk so I guess the police department didn't want the items anymore since they're probably upgrading to Ford Explorers and none of this equipment is compatible with the new SUV's. Its rare to find them like this but its not the first time I've gotten a car with a lot of the equipment cut and thrown inside the car again.

hello do you have the diagram of the electrical assembly for the siren?

It depends on which make and model siren you have. The one in the video is a Federal Signal Smart Siren SS2000. I got the wiring diagram for this one through the Federal Signal website. Try Google searching what you have and look for wiring diagrams
