Nice work! We're my eyes playing tricks on me or did 3 bearings go in the rear hub? My 76 has 7 spoke cast wheels and only had 2 bearings on the rear axle. I do see kits online that have both 2 and 3 bearings both of which are supposed to fit? Not sure where the 3rd bearing would go?

hi, yes, my 78 hub gets 3 bearings. Hubs between 73-77 indeed go with 2 but verify what exactly you have. cheers

hi Toney, I have used some German brand "Kiesolin" but I believe any good quality stuff, patience and time will do the job ;) cheers !

@goharley please help. i have a xl from 74 where, whenever i tighten the back wheel axel the wheel completly stops spinning. i see yours resemble min alot. care to explain maybe how you collected your back wheel?

hi, let me first ask whether you checked the manual to make sure the components and assembly go according to XL74 ? (you can easily google up the manual)

@@simonmaron they do. they where originally put together. had to take it apart for maintenace. i feel like the problem is the washer between drum brake and drumbrake housing. but im not sure.

@@GlobalTune hard to advice anything without seeing it. I cannot even come up with any reason for this blockage...check all clearances around, maybe brake gets engaged somehow while you crank the nut.

Why not go with stainless steel spokes? It ALL looks good anyway....

1st - I wanted to restore what I had as basically those (were) are in a good condition. 2nd - I need to control the project budget ;)
