The moment I’ve been waiting for! Today we find out whether our city council will pass our zoning to allow the store to operate! Will we get our zoning or will it be a huge bust? Watch and see!

What a cool City Council Meeting! it was obvious they were in favor of what you were doing, especially when you mentioned Historic Site certification... or whatever that distinction is called in Canada. The store looks FABULOUS... even with the pile of clutter in the door. You've successfully recreated the feel of an Edwardian General Store. A.D.. you took the words right out of my mouth. I have said that so many times that I feel that I know Alex and his family even all the creative artistic people he has introduced us to and now we watch their channels. I had talked to my friends so much about Alex and all the work he was doing on Mary's house that they thought that I knew Alex and Mary and when she passed away they asked me if I was going to her funeral. I had to explain to them that I did not know Alex or Mary that it was from a KZbin channel that I had been watching from Canada. I actually did cry when she passed away. Alex made it feel so real that we were right there with him we got to know them. I know he really does need to pat himself on the back. He has worked very hard and has accomplished something that he has been dreaming of almost all his life. How many people can say that? He's had a few rough spots here and there but he has always tried to stay positive and always try to keep his viewers thinking positive. Like he's said so many times don't let anybody steal your dreams and you only have one life to live and you're not guaranteed tomorrow so do what you enjoy don't work a job that makes you so unhappy that you can't live a happy life. He took a chance and with a loving supportive wife he has built his dream into a reality. I hope someday you'll be able to come from England and visit his store. I am hoping that someday I'll be able to visit the store and meet everyone I don't live quite as far away as you do I live in Texas.

The series on the Potter's House undid me completely. I had known Alex is a sweet person, but the love, caring and support he showed for Mary and her creations just undid me. I wept through the whole thing and when she died, I felt the loss of someone I did not know, but learned to admire her, her work and creativity. It was not all loss because Alex carried on, realized her artistic creativity and made Mary real to all of us. Thank you, Alex. That and this store are the things I like to hear about. Real, everyday things and real, everyday people, only they're often hidden gems that Alex reveals to us with their histories. Can't get any better than that.

What a joy to have your video open with music from Grieg's, Peer Gynt! I have a cute (?) dump story. I have 3 sons who I encouraged in their curiosity. One liked machines, one liked electronics, one was into science, stuff like that. They would come home from the dump or even finding something in a friend's garbage like an old radio to take apart. But letting them haul all this stuff home more or less guaranteed they would not dismantle MY stuff to see how it worked. One day the middle son came home with a defibrillator; fortunately without the key, because he wanted to test it on his little brother. Some years later some young people came by on a scavenger hunt and I traded it for some useless thing. I'd like to think they won the contest for their original find. You never know what you'll find at a dump. :)

You have much more faith in City Hall than I could ever give to any group of politicians. It did turn out well. I am surprised there were not a long list of violations and fines and even jail time for jumping the gun. I've taken quite a few leaps into the unknown; marriage; two children; buying a house; I also bought two businesses (the first ended badly); and walking into the emergency room after my wife died of esophageal cancer (after 40 years together), when I knew I was dying. I was wheeled directly from the ER to ICU and after two operations and a month in the hospital I was released and it took two years to "bounce back". I'm currently being sued for the last. . . Unpaid medical bills. But, people were trying to sue my wife for medical bills after she died. One local funeral parlor, that I never did business with, even sent me a bill for services never rendered. Hang in there, all the bullshit passes, if you want something for nothing, you've already lost. If you work towards a reasonable goal, you will win. You're goal is reasonable. . . You will win! Putting all your resources and efforts into proving the World is flat wouldn't count as reasonable. But I suspect you already know that.

Stephen, I am so sorry you have to live through all that. Nothing hurts more thanb losing the love of your life, trust me i know. I know that pain all to well. I lost my husband when i was 44, he was 46 and we had been married 27 years!! Its been 9 1/2 years and it still hurts me every day!! I very nearly lost my life a couple of years later; because I didn't care. But dying of slow torture (diverticulitis) just wasn't working for me. One MD opined I had less than a week to live when I walked into the ER. At least I'm alive to sue. . . HA! Since the proverbial well is already dry, the suit will go nowhere. Again, I know I don't do a lot of comments on here, mainly because i watch you from my BIG OLE TV in my little bedroom where I unfortunately have to spend a lot of time in, BUT i guess one of the upsides to being housebound a lot of the time is i found your channel, fell in LOVE with your channel, as the first of "the hoarders house/the potters house" began!!
