So sad to see what has become of the Potter's House. I have never seen such destruction in such a short period of time. If they are still in this small town I can't imagine anyone ever renting to them again.

First time seeing this today, also watched a video from just 7 months ago- that “ wonderful” family who was renting the house trashed it. Good thing Alex, and Melissa have great, loyal friends who helped put the house back together again. But as usual Alex didn’t dwell on the negative, and acted like the classy man that he is. That’s why I love this channel.♥️

Having done maintenance and remodeling on residential and commercial rentals for 22 yrs ... As a landlord..he is in for the headaches...but at least his mortgage is being paid for him.

Scott M. Franklin NC. My hubs and I were landlords for 35 years. I don’t know how we stood it for that long. I wish him well though. We did have some really nice tenants

I definitely mulled it over more than a few times. Im so used to larger city conveniences, i think it would have been hard to adjust. Plus living in san Diego all my life, i wouldnt know how to deal with that kind of cold and weather.

I loved this series! I want to thank you for opening my eyes. I'm a self-prescribed Level 2 Hoarder. Since watching your series, I have realized how much my mental state is like Mary's. I have valuable stuff intermingled with trash. Since watching this series I have been purging a little bit every day. I'm also cleaning pristine items up that I want to give to loved ones &/or donate. My mental, emotional, and physical disabilities very real BUT I'm focused on baby steps. Thank you! Unfortunately, if you've now seen the July 15, 2021 Potter House update video, it turns out that the so-called "nice young family" that rented the house has now moved out and has left the house in a complete filthy and damaged shambles. Utterly shameful!!

I Live Just A Couple Hours Away From Where Alex & His Family Live In Edmonton (I Live In Alberta Too) & Also A Couple Of Hours From Where The Potter House Is Too( But The Potter House Is 1 Province Away From Me In Saskatchewan 🙂) We've Been Hit By 3 Bad Snow Storms 🌨❄🌨❄🌨❄ Already !!! The First 2 Were In September (1st 1 Was Mid-September) !!! & The Last One Just Hit Us Last Week , A Few Days Before Thanksgiving !!! & Now Today it's +20 🤗 That's Life Living In Alberta !!! My GrandPa Would Always Say " If You Don't Like The Weather, Just Give It 5 Minutes....It'll Change !!!" 😂😂LOL🤣🤣

Sometimes people are avoiding possible historic houses since there are restrictions on what improvements can be made. I would like it but others might want more freedom.

I agree! It would be amazing with all that space. There's one where I live, 2 levels also and it is decked out vintage style, they have local poetry readings, and open Mic nights, they sell delectable fresh made pastries.. called Victoria station, rt by an old train depot. Nowadays ppl spend alot of time and money in those places esp with wifi access.😉

It is great to see not only someone who understands and appreciated art, and history enough to truly do this home justice. I know that Mrs. Potter looks down with pride in your efforts, and rests in the knowledge that her home is not only a prized piece of Canadian history, but is in the safe hands of someone who truly cares that this landmark will remain in the legends that it deserves. The word "hoarder house" got me to watch the first episode, but when you bought it is when I was really hooked. Then the cast of family, friends, and helpers became so interesting! It just grew on me (and apparently tons more people) now I'm actually sad that it's over but happy you have more adventures to share! (Hans) etc!

Wow! My Oakridge, Oregon house went from over flowing stuff . To freshly updated and clean. Now a Happy rental to the Grandma of the kids across the street. Small towns can be a hard place to sell a home. At least we can relax because both our houses are making Great Family memories.

That is great news! So happy that you won't have the stress of worrying about a house three hours drive away that's empty over the winter. I'm sure with all the renos nothing would have gone wrong, but definitely better to have someone in there to keep an eye on things. The Potters House with little feet running around, laughter and conversation in the rooms, snowmen and toys in the yard... awesome!!! It's a home again.

Absolutely excellent,superb series. You took a hoarders house and made it into a historical, treasured home. As well as teaching people about the beautiful, awesome artist that lived a full life at that home. I'm going back and watching the Potter's House podcasts from the beginning. I love seeing the start and the transformation. I love seeing you find treasures and every time one of her pots was uncovered it was one of those WOW moments. I became obsessed checking to see if you had put another Potter's House podcast out. Lovely home. I hope the renters are good and help in the care of it. I've particularly been following this story... and wish you and family good fortune. My children are in their forties now and as they grew up I tried to instill they needed to give 110% in all they do... 100% effort and 10% care... and they will be judged on the 10%. They are successful in their lives, and I am too, because I hear my lessons being preached back to me by them. I see this in your videos, the care. The love you take is the love you make. Rewatching this to see what you said about the family before they damaged the house. [I worry about the kids in that family if someone is kicking down doors ☹.] But, the pleasant surprise was seeing Dave's smiling face again and seeing you work together.

RIP Dave. At July 17, 2021, those tenants/family did terrible damage that the entire home has to be redone. Watching the video of Alex's walk thru seeing the damage was heart wrenching. Some people have no respect for someone else's property.

There comes a time when any estate is finally and fully closed, when the last items have been distributed, the final sale or rental of the homestead settled, the dust -- every grain of it -- at last all swept up. Sadness is a natural reaction when we see a legacy transition to new hands. It's a cliche, but yes: life does go on and the space (occupied by our departed) now has new energy. Thank you for this extraordinary series of videos and for the glimpse into Mary's remarkable life and contributions. Thank you also -- perhaps more -- for facilitation of inevitable transitions. Nicely done.

I watched your video yesterday about this house and I remember when you posted this video. The people who "lived" there obviously went out of their way to destroy it. It's disgusting that people are like that. It took a lot of effort to do that much damage to a house.. They definitely weren't the "great" family you thought they were.

Diane Rivera, what I have learned over the years is people never cease to disappoint. Knowing how much work, love and respect went into the restoration how could anyone destroy all that, walk away and then ask for their security deposit in beyond my comprehension. I hope "karma" bites them in the ass.
