The cutout in the throttle bar is for a screw that goes in from the back, the proper screw has a little nipple on the end which locates in the slot and prevents the bar from moving side to side. I think the bit of metal you found was the broken off nipple wedging up the shaft. HTH.

A man needs a 3rd arm , Nice work Sir, i have a 72 model , had ignition probs , had an Dyna tech ignition , lost fire on two cylinder , replace witha new dyna , solved the firing probs , its at shop doin some fine tuning , hope to have it back soon , never got to ride yet . kinda anxious !! enjoyed the video !! warm here in East Texas .

Sure thing. Next time I change a tire out I’ll make sure to record it. I’m not sure of the brand I purchased. I’ll have to look it up but it was around $1k and it’s been great.

I have 2 sportster a 93 and a 2003 neither of them have an adjuster on them I just checked the part’s manual and it didn’t show it in there I’m confused I know the old shovel gat them

That adjuster was not for the sportsters. They were just using it for a spacer. My guess is it came off a touring bike or the original Honda frame.
