Caste is a Spanish and Portuguese word 'casta' which stands for 'Breed' or 'lineage'. And also read about Herbert Hope Risley who created casteism, racism in Indian society by one's facial features and skin color, and Bishop Robert Caldwell who propagated the "Aryan Invasion" in Southern India to convert "Dravidians" into Christianity.

In Hinduism, birth based caste is a superstitious system, however Varna was the original system, in Varna there was no upper or lower, people chose the work of which they are qualified for and according to Bhagavad Gita, anyone can be a Brahman (Teacher, Scholar), Shatriya (Warrior, Army), Vaishya (Trader, Bussiness class), Shudra (Working class) based on knowledge and skills: 🔹In Bhagavad Gita 4:13, Krishna says that he created different Varnas (Profession) on the basis of one's Karma (Activity) and Guna (Quality). 🔹Bhagavad Gita 5:18 "The truly learned, with the eyes of divine knowledge, see with equal vision a Brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater" 🔹Bhagavad Gita 9:29 "I am equally disposed to all living entities: there is neither friend nor foe to Me: but those who with living sentiments render divotional service unto Me, such persons are in Me and I am in them." 🔹Bhagavad Gita 18:41 "The duties of the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras are distributed in accordance with their guṇas (quality) and not by birth. And also read about Herbert Hope Risley who created casteism, racism in Indian society by one's facial features and skin color, and Bishop Robert Caldwell who propagated the "Aryan Invasion" in Southern India to convert "Dravidians" into Christianity.

This part mentions Kerala, where I'm from. You may have realised that the attacks mentioned in that part were politically motivated, not because of caste. They did mention a discriminating officer, who will be fired from his job and other punishments imposed if they could record evidence of him saying these things. It's comparable to western countries in that sense, a phrase I'm not using with pride, but with shame. I must say that in our day-to-day life, we don't see any discrimination when it comes to touching each other, admissions or treatment in schools, treatment at work etc. Some families do discriminate when it comes to their children's marriages, and that's the only place where it's clearly still an issue. Those who break that limitation are seen as rebels, but they don't get killed or mutilated for it, but they sometimes do face admonishment from elders and mockery from ill-mannered relatives. Marriages between religions is much more seriously opposed, and there have even been rare killings because of it among the more extremist/backward communities, not in urban Kerala. There are Keralites who mock and blame expats from other states, and I think that's unfair too. Here's hoping that globalisation removes these old ways with rational thinking.

I am from a lower caste and I had also not seen the discrimination in urban areas, but when I visited small towns and villages and when they heard me speak a dialect not similar to theirs they would immediately ask which village I belonged to. In my stay for a week in Kutch Gujarat, I was asked numerous times, one man even asked me to step aside and give him good space such that he can pass without touching Me.

I'm very astonished to see Dr.Yadu Lal very conveniently playing Dalit Discrimination card. He wasn't discriminated, but he was kept aside because Delhi high court ordered for it. Because his medical and surgical negligence cause unwanted deaths of his patients. I personally know one of those victims. You can check for these aspects on internet or in the official records of Delhi High Court. I'm sorry that the documentary maker hasn't done enough homework on the background of subjects whom he/she has selected. I'm also sorry to say that I'm unable to appreciate the time, efforts and money that might have went into making this documentary, because one portion of it took away my whole impression, even if rest of video was portraying reality.

+arul joseph yes. i moved in their circle. my intimate friend was daughter of chemical reactor and she put garland on P M indira gandhi. when she was on campaign. as well i attended all lectures of morarji bhai desai when he arrved there. as well my grandmother's brother was giving lectures in town centre for independence. My grandmother's sisters son was chair of our community in south africa and his sons are doctors. my grandfather's brothers son was engineer in ukai dam. married to my near aunt. and his brother worked in aspro reactor lab. as well a goldsmith family i was brought up with. we are still intimate friends. i live in their houses i live in my moms house. my mom had neighbour who was golddmith and ever helping. share plates and dishes. my grandfather was important member devoutee in thakorji temple. always helping around. we keep to vegetarian. we say we obey them. so even bhatiyas of dwarka welcome us. one has to learn to live with them. i play in their houses and was brought up with their children in that environment. in india my grandfather attended every fire crremony conducted in.main temple as well attended temple worship and brahmin never objected to it. so. one has to be like them. to live with them. and obey them. then only we can live peacefully. we dont eat garlic. ni onions no meat. then only they feel they can accept us. this is on going even now.

PhD is earned through hard work. So if somebody says that he/she specializes in something, there is nothing wrong. If somebody is recognized through what he/she has earned, there is nothing wrong in it. And all PhDs are not arrogant as you state. This may be a case with a low tier university with a very few PhDs, so that may bring some elitism. If you look at top-tier institutes of the country, where everybody is a PhD, this elitism doesn't exist. Caste system is different. You get your caste without any reason or without earning it. If you get something without earning, that may instigate arrogance.

upper cast lower cast classification is appears to be as socialproblem but root are in non conscious gradation. it is a psychological problem. let me explain how it will be. we will classify every things based on different criteria like skills, characters, utilities etc. once calcified unknowingly we will grade them. once graded we felt something is superior to other. for example humans classified as male and female. 100 %males think they are upper position to female. (for argument sake one may bunk "equal " but inner voice will be different) in our body parts we clarified right and left. some where mentally we feel right hand is upper to left hand.(certainly not equal status can be attributed) similarly in ancient times society divided in to different level depending on skills they possess. human can any thing into bad with in no time. due to lack of inclusiveness. it resulted in what we are now perceiving. so speeches, reservations, intercast marriages etc can not permanent solutions they further increase distance. as long as politics running around them. there is no opportunity to get ride of it. How to develop inclusiveness? is something to think off if any body wants to combat it.
