yes if only Czechs and Slovaks allied with Poland against the germans maybe it would be different. @@RokSzczura Bullshit. When the border were being established, the most important criteria was the population. And Zaolzie was majority Polish. "Historically, the largest specified ethnic group inhabiting this area were Poles.[1] Under Austrian rule, Cieszyn Silesia was initially divided into three (Bielitz, Friedek and Teschen), and later into four districts (plus Freistadt). One of them, Frýdek, had a mostly Czech population, the other three were mostly inhabited by Poles." Czech population in those regions grew only after 1920 when Czechoslovakian government started settling people there. In 1920 when Poland was fighting Bolsheviks, Czechoslovakia attacked and ripped Zaolzie from Poland which was against the will of the Polish population living there. Poland did to you guys the same thing you did to them. But in their case, they only reclaimed illegally occupied territory.
@primkup
@primkup 2 жыл бұрын
@NVZX Please don't lie. Czechoslovakia invaded only after the Poles started with recruiting in the Czech part of the region, which was the direct violation of Czechoslovak borders, and they were asked to stop it. Also Poland was not in the war with Bolsheviks yet, war for Zaolzie happened between 23-30 January 1919, war between Poland and the Bolsheviks 14 February 1919 - 18 March 1921. And if you want to talk about how the Czechoslovakia treated its Germans, who were allowed to speak their language, had their own schools and political representation, we can also talk about how Poland treated their Germans, or Belarusians, or Ukrainians, who were literally second-class citizens and openly discriminated. Same as the Hungarians discriminated Slovakia, which was highly underdeveloped. And just for example, if you'll ever visit Carpathian Ruthenia, people there still consider the time when they were part of Czechoslovakia as the golden part of their history, unlike the time when they were part of Hungary. I think that says a lot.

One minor mistake I would like to point out; the small towns of Jarovce, Rusovce & Čunovo (nowadays considered a part of the "Bridgehead of Bratislava") were still a part of Hungary under the Treaty of Trianon, and were only awarded to Czechoslovakia after WW2. This map displays the current state of affairs, with the Hungarian border running to their South rather than their North.

It is technically not partition. Poland, Reich and Hungary had no pact about partitioning Czechoslovakia, this term was used most of the time by stalinists for stalinist propaganda to blame Poland for ww2. In fact, this small Polish revenge on Czechs for 1919 (when Czechs had annexed Zaolzie and also did genocides on Polish people) was big political mistake, and it came from Polish politicians' pride and idiocy.

Sudetenland was never part of the German Empire, but it was part of the Kingdom of Bohemia since its existence, taking it away would only radicalize the Czechs and devastate their economy. Also Hitler wanted not just former German territories or places with German majority, but most of Eastern Europe and Germans turned to him not because of territorial losses, but because of overall bad situation in Germany. He would find his casus belli, Sudetenland or not.
