That's great, and I'm glad that even though the older couple didn't really understand it, at least it'll be safer to walk out of their home now! In my experience when working with older people, sometimes it works (better) when you say for example 'no, charge, but I'd take a cup of tea if happen to have any!' Then they'll be happy they have the option to do something for you in return, it doesn't feel like 'charity' as it might otherwise, and you'll have something to drink!

@@PartridgeExteriorCleaning Also don't forget, a lot of elderly people getting scammed by seemingly "free" jobs and after a few weeks they get an invoice by post over horrendous amounts in a really bad tone, so they get scared and pay up. But what Tanouska said is true and really important, a lot of people won't accept "charity" because it is painful to accept, that they might need help.

I am always telling my mum (91) not to open the door to anyone she doesn't know so I do understand their hesitation but I love the idea of these videos and when I am driving around I would love to clean some of the green slimy roadsigns that I see, that was satisfying. Maybe print out a headed letter for elderly people, or those that seem distrustful, stating that you only wish to clean ‘…’ (handwritten in), and that it will be free of charge for the purpose of advertising via KZbin. If you say it’s purely for free, people will think it suss, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure most of those kind of people are scared of getting scammed. So that someone would say they're doing it for free, but then going to charge them when it's done. It's sad that people still have to think about that kind of things. And 100% yes for making more of these kind of videos. Small things that will brighten someones day.

@@Moosemonni I agree. With travelers and their offers of "free" work, then turning around and billing exorbitant amounts and other similar scams, I'm sure that makes people wary these days. And with older people, compound that with confusion from dementia or diminished capacity, and you'll get resistance here and there. But hats off to you, Sid, for pushing through regardless and doing good deeds for people like that. It's a win-win: you get content and they get work done that they may not necessarily afford.

Beautiful work! Have you tried telling the elderly folks that you already got paid by donors to do their area for free? Being a senior and on disability myself, I struggle to accept a for free clean but I find it easier to take if someone says it's been paid for. Seniors are nervous about getting things for free because there are so many scams. It also would help if you show them your KZbin channels.

I love it. There are a couple of KZbinrs in the US who do this kind of thing. They are landscapers. It's great to find really dirty things to clean. It can also be really rewarding for someone who needs help to have this done.

Your idea sounds like it will be good. Little things might be fine, a small front wall, a mailbox, all kinds of bits..... particularly slimy ones that might otherwise cause harm...(Did anyone else nearly groan over the refused dirty vehicle?) The bench looks nice and is a lot safer, the road sign is much easier to read. A front wall is all cheerful. Nice finds. You got a lot done! Thanks to John for the cup of tea in the cold weather. Loved the last yard, sorry the elders couldn't understand what you could do. It still is a start on much safer. Doing things during the week and compiling it sounds sensible. You need family and rest time. Looking forward to what you come up with.

I think this is a great video! I also know how hard it can be to get ppl to accept free work hahaha! The guy early on with the van probably thought you were casing his property or vehicle so your mates could 'stop by' later LOL! I'm also thinking the elderly couple at the end not only were unfamiliar with social media in general, but also come from a generation that views 'free help' as charity, which oft times their pride cannot let them accept. Glad you got round to making their walkway safe though, especially glad after hearing they are elderly! Personally, as a public bench user, I love that you just stopped on the side of the road and did stuff like the signs and seating areas. I'm the gal that will sit on a bench in the middle of nowhere just so it feels useful. Weird huh? LOL! Great video as always, Sid!

Personally Sid, I think this is a wonderful idea, like taking one day a week to go out and give back to the community. If I had a vehicle and pressure washer with a water tank, I too would go around and do a few small jobs like you did here, one day a week, because most people take things for granted that others will not help out with a little kindness, because doing this may lead to more jobs

I love that you do the little things like street signs or play areas etc that are mostly ignored. I agree with the comment made that you should have a supply of business cards to hand out to the people you approach for free cleaning. Perhaps their neighbours will want to know about the cleanup and it would be a handy reference. Cleaned the odd Road Sign in passing just as it bugged me when covered in green 😀 Often wondered about approaching the local council but one of those things was put on the back burner and overtaken by other projects.
