I'm a Pashtun From south central Afghanistan, Wardag Tribe, Fully Pashtun with no known ancestry from Tajiks or Hazaras. Here is my Farmer breakdown: 39.2% Zagros 22.6% European 19.8% Anatolian 7.4% Amur River 6.6% Ancient Indian 3.4% Caucasian. On 23andme: 85% Afghan and Uzbek, 5.5% Pakistani, 7.4% Iranian. MyheritageDNA: 34.5% West Asian, 30.9% South Asian, 19.5% Central Asian and around 15% European. Ancient Populations: 50% Bactria, 34% Steppe, 16% Indus Valley, 10% Turkic (Ulkhaanzad Culture or something.) A correction: On average Pashtuns have 9% to 12% Ancient Indian. Northern Pashtuns like the ones from North East Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have up to 18% AASI, southern Pashtuns like the ones from Quetta and Kandahar have 8-9% AASI, Central One's from the east have about 7% to 13% and central ones from the west like me have 6% to 8%. You also seem to be using Pashtun Uthman Khel and Pashtun Tarkalani samples as the base for Pashtuns meanwhile those are definitely results of mixed Pashtuns with native Indo Aryans.

Also a note: Any person from India that claims to be pathan or pashtun is not considered Pashtun, especially if they do not speak Pashto. Nowadays people with a great great Pashtun grandfather be calling themselves pathan, but in order to be Pashtun you have to follow the tribal code and speak the langauge. Pashtuns are limited to west Pakistan and Afghanistan only.

I know rohilla Pashtuns from New Delhi who have never had relationships with non-pashtuns. Also, they have preserved their tribal and sub-tribal names. I know some of them personally, although I am from Afghanistan. The famous tribes are yousufzai, Daudzai-mainly Baqerzai, Kakar, Afridi, and many more. And when you go to Kashmir in india, you will find many pashto speaking yousufzais in Ganderbal who speak and Even write in Pashto. So, we claim most of them in contrast to your opinion. Many Khans Rajasthan are not pashtuns. This is where I can agree with. The pashtuns of Delhi are speaking Urdu but have tribal last names.

@user-11188 Brother, Pashtuns have been traders for centuries, and the pashtuns of India (Rohilla) were also traders. Another thing is that Pashtuns were the soldiers of some Mughal Kings, and they were with them in their campaigns to India. I haven't mentioned that pashto is a dravidian language, Pashto indeed is an Eastern-Iranian language. India isn't too far from the Pashtuns area. I refer you to search rohilla pashtuns on Wikipedia. You will know why I claim them as our own pashtuns. Here in Afghanistan, some of my own relatives are speaking Persian and can not speak Pashto, but it doesn't change the fact that they are pashtuns.

The Pashtuns are like the Irish of Britain. No matter who comes to hit them on the head, occupy and burn their land and violate their women... they'll always take back their homeland, one way or another. Though Hazaras are not a Native people of Afghanistan. It is often said that they were the descendants of the Mongol and Turkic garrisons left in Afghanistans to maintain control of the land. Because of it's strategic importance, the great Khaans wanted to maintain control of Afghanistan, but the Pashtuns would constantly rebel... so they were exterminated, it didn't stop them. So their farming land was salted, until they starved to death. That failed.. and then the last attempt was to breed them out (resulting in the Hazara Mongols). But that failed too. By the time the Mongol Empire fell and the Timurid(Persianized Mongol) empire rose up to take it's place, both Afghans (Pashtuns) and Hazaras became important soldiers for the Timurid and Mughal empires.

Looking at the genetic diversity, many Pashtuns are pashtunized, we are still not sure who originally spoke the language, they say it is the kandaharis but I disagree with that because they cannot even pronounce some Pashto letters properly, same for northern Pashtuns. My guess is that people from paktia are the original, we, the wardags are similar to them and according to our stories we come from there, we also pronounce all the letters correctly, but it seems we have some east asian dna too, in little amounts, doesn't show up as hazara though. I have 7.6% Amur river hunter gatherer.

The Tajiks of Afghanistan are just remnants of that as we can see. While the Pashtuns of Pakistan are mixed with Dardic's or some are Pashtunized groups native to north west of the Indus (close to the Indus valley).

Can't say for sure where pashtuns originate but the most original form of the language is Indeed spoken from where I'm from and the region called loy paktia

First off Pashtuns of Afghanistan are nearest to the proto Pashtuns which only have 7-12% AASI the Steppe or Indo European ancestry is 30-35%. Plus we have added Caucasus Hunter gatherer ancestry along with added Anatolian farmer because half our ancestry stems from BMAC not from Helmand.

We rarely take wives from hazaras and sometimes from tajiks, but in Afghanistan we take pashto seriously and hate other ethnic groups. I see so many Indian men are obsessed with us, I think they want us for marriage. I am a pashtun girl and to be honest I would not even consider Indian man unless he is (1) muslim (2) educated and high salary (3) no indian accent or poor hygeine🤮(4) at least 6 feet tall, sharp features, and at least medium complexion (5) learn pashtu culture nad language. That is only 0.1 % of Indian men who meet the criteria. Only if he meets these can he even be considered among Pashtun men. I would rather be married with low salary Pashtun man than with even average Indian man
