Matt, this is an outstanding lesson, it's like a comprehensive cane self-defense course all by itself, presented in a simple and easily understood manner. These strikes, how to apply them, and the defensive strategies look highly dependable and certainly effective. My past Hapkido instructor used to always stress to "act quickly, move our bodies as fast as possible, to press forward, and to flow from one technique to another" until the attacker was down! Thank you so much, for so many valuable life-saving points! I appreciate all the knowledge you give to all of us. God bless. 🙏

@@pasquinilli After watching your videos, I'm going to have to upgrade to a solid wood cane. Being a very tall guy it will have to be about 40 inches.

Thanks for the kind words. I've had a problem with the rubber tips on two canes coming loose. I have some of that old-fashioned "Shoe Goo." I remember my father fixing his running shoes with that stuff when I was a kid back in the seventies. I saw some online and bought a tube or two. I put a thin layer of Shoe Goo around the inside of the cane tip, and the cane tip stays in place much better. With that teardrop shape of the Cane Master's cane, maybe you could use the Shoe Goo to build the areas that are a looser fit against the wood. When I'm really concerned about the Shoe Goo staying in place, I score the rubber a little bit with a file, but that might not be necessary for the inside of a cane tip. The stuff usually dries in about eight hours. I don't put the tip back on the cane until the Shoe Goo has dried. That allows me to remove the tip when I want to oil the wood. I've also used Shoe Goo to rebuild the bottoms of cane tips when I've worn holes in them. I just put duct tape around the edge of the tip to form a lip about a quarter inch high. I then fill the inside with Shoe Goo. I usually let that dry for about twelve to twenty-four hours. If I use the stick only outside on concrete, I think I could add just a tiny bit of sand to the Shoe Goo to give the bottom surface a little more abrasion resistance. I think I did that once, but I don't remember for certain. I don't think you ever got back to saying what weapon the thugs have been using recently. From your swinging motion and from news reports that I've heard, I wondered whether you were going to mention bicycle locks. We are now great friends with the Japanese, but we had to defeat them completely when they tried to take over the world. I hope a day comes when we can be great friends with the people of western Asia and the Middle East, but I have come to believe that we will first need to defeat completely some of them. The service members who have played a part in trying to make that happen deserve our honor. My condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in that effort.

How do you deal with a potential abuser/regular bully? Specifically when they’re bullying someone else.
@pasquinilli
@pasquinilli 3 жыл бұрын
Child or adult? It all comes down to speaking up. The problem is that we are told to tell the bully how their actions and words make us feel. As if they didn’t know. The thinking is that once a bully realizes how we feel, then he/she will stop. They won’t. Instead you have to say “stop.” Not please stop, not would you please stop, not I feel sad when you tease me, not I don’t like how I feel when you are bullying me, none of that emotional garbage which gets in the way of a direct command. Stop is a command. I’m not asking you, I’m telling you. And you can say, “you don’t have to like me, but you cannot tease me.” That acknowledges the actions and intent of the bully to communicate that they don’t like you. It’s like empathetic listening, “I hear that you are saying ...” You don’t agree with them, just let them know that you hear them. The other reason you say that “you don’t have to like me, but you can’t tease me,” is that you need to hear that truth. It’s your human right not to be abused. Is it is more physical in nature, then you need to start in a physical position. I’m going to do a livestream this morning to show you more of what I mean. Great question.
