Thank you Renee, that is so kind. I've only worked a small amount with PanPastels. They are an interesting alternative to an underpainting, used dry. You know me, I love making marks, so that's why I haven't used them as much. All my best!

I use a black backing board on my easel, and tape my art up with black tape. This is to keep it clean for video so you can focus on the art.

Beautiful, but pastels are not paints. They’re like charcoal as in a charcoal drawing. They are 100 percent eye medium, not paint. You can’t enter a pastel piece in a painting competition. Why not call it pastel art or pastel art?

You are incorrect. Soft pastel is a legitimate painting medium. You can win awards entering soft pastel paintings into exhibitions worth $1000's I have won many. A drawing in pastel is quite different than a painting in pastel.

Hey, can I ask, how do you deal with man made straight lines? Your technique is great for living things and fluid curves but what about the straight lines in say a piano, how do you deal with that and keep it painterly while avoiding an architectural rendering? Thanks and keep up the great work

Lots of broken edges to keep the lines from getting overly sharp and straight is a good approach.
