I went the wrong route after all of the sexual abuse I went through as a child. I stopped believing. It took hearing a message about free will, someone somewhat explaining how it’s not God allowing terrible things to happen and a lot of soul searching to bring my faith back. Dax basically just cemented the fact that he believes and still believes in God & that he is gonna trust God without focusing on religion but spirituality. This song was like a prayer of him just heartfully opening up to God with his grievances with everything in life but still acknowledging & believing in God with ending the song with "Amen". This song is a great example of just coming to God as you are whole heartedly. If you're out there mad that God hasnt answered your prayers then I say just continue to have faith & patience with God. Delay is not denial and God will honor your faith in Him.
@bonosrapperandproducer64983 жыл бұрын
Well music is an art form. Dax always paints an honest picture from within himself lyrically to me which I say is amazing. A life following God or even worse, like myself, struggling and suffering through pain, feeling alone stays with you like a traumatized child. Some people give in to hating religion or people who believe because they basically got that belief taken or refused in their childhood. I was raised LDS and learned the truth finally in my 30s going to a non denominational church. I definitely identify with this song 100 percent. So it's a matter of how you view this song, but Dax did really good with Dear God. He wasn't trying to push religion or deny it. He was rapping from his heart. That's how you talk to God, like a Father.

i couldn’t have said it better. dax is just making a point to be honest. it just shows that you have to trust god enough that even if your mad at him you need to confront him about it. god wants you to come to him as you. he wouldn’t want you to hide questions that you have on your mind 24/7. even if he doesn’t answer. i know he’d want you to come exactly as you are and speak your mind no matter what others think

I don’t ever comment on videos. This will literally be my first. I just couldn’t sit back and not say anything. I just heard this song for the first time and I am the type of person that truly listens to lyrics. After listening to these lyrics, I was in tears. I grew up in church and have tried to live and be the best person that I could be. At a young age I heard and saw so many things from the “church family” that caused me to question a lot of things. A lot of bad things transpired at the church I went to and when I turned 18, I stopped going. I was angry and hurt by the things I had seen and heard and experienced. To be honest, I’m still angry today and I’m now 41. Everything Dax said and every question he asked is exactly what I have asked since I was about 14-18 years old and still want answers to. I asked so many people those questions throughout life and have always received generic answers. It’s always been frustrating and has continued to fuel the anger I have. I have talked to God soooooooo many times and not all of the talks were very good. I have been raw and completely open with God about things and have told him that “I want to have a 2-way conversation with you”. “I want to have a conversation with you just like I have with someone right in front of me. One where there’s actual communication.” I have said that so many times and continue to do so. I admit, it makes me angry that I can’t and haven’t been able to talk to God like I can with someone else. It does make me angry that we are his “children” but horrific things continue to happen, we don’t get any answers from him (almost like we are being ignored) and we feel hopeless at times. I think about my own children. How they would feel if I didn’t talk to them, protect them, provide for them, actually listen to them and provide them with a response. It would completely diminish their faith in me as their father and it would potentially make them hate me. Aren’t we God’s “children”? So how can he, as our “father”, ignore us? That’s how I’ve felt for a very long time. I couldn’t do that to my children so how can God do that to his children that he loves so much? I am a believer but I’m also a human and I question this. So everything Dax said in this song is something I have said and asked! Thank you @Thatsdax for being real and creating this song for everyone to hear! I truly felt it!

I have always taken the closeness of a Father from each of the good things in my life, every day, little things even. I have had hardships but not thankfully total horror, and even there a kindness, a sustaining word, a song, beauty I took to be the love of God, keeping me going. When I look back at desperate times when I cried out to be changed, because where I was was unbearable, I see He did change me, I did grow; I took that to be the love of God. When I see my children who have grown to adults with their own suffering , wrestle with their own pain and faith and I see it increase their hunger and awareness of the Love of God. It also is the stuff of our bond. It seems the difficulty is linked with the reality of love. I am struggling to put this into meaningful words. Here are 2 of my daily prayers, taken from Metropolitan Anthony..The essence of prayer… Help me, O God, to discard all false pictures of thee, whatever the cost to my comfort. Help me, O God to put off all pretences and to find my true self. Dax is telling his hard reality and he is holding on. I believe he is also being held.
@maribelcunningham8497 Жыл бұрын
@rickyhuffman idk that you will ever read this response. I also have never commented on a video before but I wanted to respond after reading your comment. I too used to cry out to Father God and would get very frustrated that I was not hearing His voice. The truth of the matter is that I wasn’t seeking Him. I was angry and wanted proof- I was walking by sight and not faith. I had no relationship with Him. It was not that He wasn’t there, it was not that He wasn’t moving in my life. He was, I was just blind and could not see. You mentioned that you’ve talked to God so many times, which would lead me to believe that to some degree you believe that He’s real. My question to you would be do you have a relationship with Him? I used to know about God. I would even say I believed He was real. But I had no relationship with Him. I didn’t know that I could have a relationship with him! It wasn’t until I realized that I could, and started pursuing a relationship with Him, that I finally heard Him speak to me. It’s not until I now sit back and reflect on my life before Christ that I can see the many times that God saved me, the many times He provided for me, the many times He protected me. I didn’t see that when I was walking in anger and in the world (as part of the world). Even through the many times I told Him I hated Him, the many times I wished I was dead and threw in His face the life He’s blessed me with. Through it all, He was there with me. He never left my side. We are not all born children of God. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-” John 1:12 NIV We get to make the choice. We are all someone who Christ died for, but we still get the choice to choose & follow Him or remain in the darkness this broken world has to offer. I encourage you to sit with the Lord and seek a relationship with Him. Continue to talk to Him and read your Bible. It’s ok to have all the hard questions and want answers, but seek first His kingdom and righteousness. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 NIV I will be praying for you, I truly hope that you find in Him what you’re looking for. He IS the answer to EVERYTHING. Much love to you, brother. ♥️

Ashley Hughes yeah it’s full of terrible man-made stories like solomon and jobe etc. now don’t get me wrong there are a lot of great lessons and i have learned a lot from the bible, but i’m not a christian. yahweh is a jealous and flawed god, just like the people who made him. christianity is cause for multiple historic accounts of war, death, misleading poor, confusing the people, impoverishing, stealing, corrupting government, and taking advantage of the people who believe. there are so many denominations of christianity and some of them are miles different from each other. they are all made up and changed and are skewed any which way to keep people under its grasp. the only reason it exist is because people didn’t know what happened when they died, they didn’t know why they were alive, and they didn’t have a reference tool for what was right and wrong. religion was created to fill that hole and give people hope and purpose. then it was used to gain power and steal. it is still used for that reason. i have nothing against christians, most of them are the kindest and sweetest people. it is purely the religion that i dislike.

To question God means to doubt Him, and that's akin to NOT having faith, which the Bible says makes it IMPOSSIBLE to please God. All you need to know about God is in his word, the Bible. You don't become a medical doctor by going to an empty classroom and yelling, 'WHAT ARE OUR BODIES MADE OF?', instead of enrolling for degree in medicine, understanding lectures given by actual lecturers, reading medical books and passing exams. Please it is common sense. It's amusing how people deny His existence and power just because we can't see Him, then carry on being controlled by things we can't see - emotions, thoughts, even the oxygen we breathe - like seeing is actually a criteria for believing. No verse in the Bible says seeing is believing, those are man's words NOT God's. Your curiosity should lead you to studying the Bible and fellowshipping with his followers NOT slandering His name because of the little things you think you deserve and haven't gotten. I think that is amazing! And this song should be easy to understand, everyone that believes has questioned and doubted and if you haven’t I don’t think you really believe, you just say your a believer/Christian/catholic etc. Faith is the hardest thing to have because there will never be proof. People with faith are some of the strongest people, because again to have true blind faith is hard.

I have listened to this song many times and in my own opinion I feel as if it's one of the realest prayers I've ever heard that's why he ends with amen. It's like it rains on the just and the unjust how can someone be a child molester and still be a millionaire while that child is trying to figure out what they did wrong and maybe doesn't have food to eat or their parents sold them for drugs. Sometimes life doesn't make sense and sometimes I think if I was God I'd get tired of "Help me pass this test so I can get a good job" or "thank you for all the things you've done for me". This prayer by DAX is asking how can all this happen? Sure we can sit and watch the news how someone raped and murdered some lady but imagine it being your daughter, you can't say you wouldn't be mad or even lose faith. Everything happens for a reason but what's the reason? Maybe you got a DUI and everything is hard now but someone's grandfather is laying in a nursing home bed soiled and starving to death because the staff doesn't care Why? You run up to the grocery store to get Thanksgiving dinner and someone steals your kids. what was supposed to be a nice dinner turned into hell on earth. You go to the movies with your wife and kids but on the way there an accident happens you get out but you hear the screaming from your wife and kids as they burn alive trapped inside. I could go on forever but this song is the realest prayer I've ever heard. At least that's how I interpreted it.

I’m a man of faith and I get where Dax is coming from. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, you go through some dark times. Hungry, scared, sad, barley making it, struggling. And when you try and do good, the devil pulls you back. At one point as a believer you question God, you get mad when you’re doing your best ( reading the word, praying, giving yourself and submitting to God) yet the hard times get worse. Life beats you down hence the reason why Dax is beat up in this video. For a small period, I have up on God. I stopped believing. I was angry with him. I cried and begged for him to come in my life and all I got was silence. Then the question comes up; “How is it that I’m living right and not getting anything but pain and suffering but my friend is drinking, doing drugs, sinning but has a great job, career and home?” It messes with your mind but there’s that little bit of faith that keeps you connected with Jesus. Cause you know deep in your heart he’s real. The devil will tempt and make things look beautiful on the outside. For me, Jesus needed me one in one. Broke me down, humbled me and rebuilt me. I hate that I had to go through all the pain and suffering but It made me stronger. Jesus carries me and was there the whole time. The devil made me think I was alone. This is what Dax hasn’t figured out yet. Jesus may not be there when you want but he’s always on time. Keep the faith. The lord gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors 💪

I feel like when you don't appreciate the little things in life you don't know when God is present or not.every source of happiness and positivity tells me that God is present. But I understand that darkness is so thick that you can't see or notice the light that surrounds you. So that's when you must ask God to help you see it. I don't know if that helps or makes sense but I felt like it had to be said🙂

As much as I can appreciate the “reaction” to the video, you can clearly see that he’s not trying to offend anyone in his “answers”. They are watered down and although there is faith in it, he’s beating around the bush on how he really feels. The song is incredible, and scripture doesn’t change. The artist, Dax, is literally speaking the thoughts of millions of people. If you’re a believer and follower of Christ, then it’s gonna be raw on how you feel. No lukewarm feelings.

@kimberlythomas98053 жыл бұрын
I know I am late to the conversation; however, I cannot help but comment because the response to this song by the pastor and his son completely broke my heart. With the success you have had with this platform, you fell very short of the mark with this "reaction." I am a mental health counselor who worked with incarcerated male juveniles in a treatment center. Today, my husband and I still hold Bible study on Sundays with those same young men. I am also now in private practice, and my targeted clients are parents who have been under CPS investigation. Obviously most of the kids we work with don't come from tight knit families, many of them have been molested, many are gang members, most of them are searching for answers...and they ask us all the time why God doesn't listen. So many people in our society have the very questions asked in this video. On one hand, I as a Christian do cringe at the language and at what I first perceived as disrespect; however, the biggest stab to the heart came at the pastor's last comment that he wonders what the artist is saying. That statement was naivety in all its tragedy. So many people today feel the hopelessness and anger portrayed by Dax, who was raw enough, brave enough, talented enough to put it down in words meant to challenge the church body as a whole. Plainly stated, while it does reflect his own questions, it was a scathing observation of how ineffective the church is in today's societal climate. The questions he asked rightfully deserve careful, thoughtful, honest answers, and we as Christians are not providing them. We (the church) are failing to meet the needs of the people God has placed around us. We are not listening or understanding or offering hope or providing answers; rather, we are too busy furthering our own personal goals and justifying why we don't have time to do the work we are supposed to do. I pray God places someone in the path of Dax that will sincerely look beyond the cussing...beyond the doubt...beyond the words of rejection at times spoken by the artist. I pray that the person God's sends sees the true desire Dax has for answers and for unbreakable, unquestioning faith....someone who is not afraid of the very challenge that God Himself is offering to the church in a roundabout way through this song...someone who will show him why he can safely believe in the existence of a God who views His people as a people "greatly loved" (Daniel 10:19). But that will require someone truly willing to get down into the trenches, and therein lies the problem.

I always had a good relationship with god in my childhood even though my parents were not church going and they were divorced however my father always had different child prayer books as an option for me as he wanted me to feel the true connection with god without being coerced by outside influences also I found out later he prayed too but he didn’t want me to feel like I had too. I thank him for that so much and now me and my father pray together and share that love of god with each other it’s special in my life. This songs represents believers who have believed for a long time like myself. Who can have faith enough to see miracles when my children almost die. But on the other hand have struggled in poverty my whole life no matter how hard i've worked. Who have seen my whole family saved but struggle to get them to get past life constantly kicking them down and keeping them from believing faith works. My husband and i were youth ministers who have seen a lot of kids, teens and young adults saved and move on into life as Christians but at the same time couldn't pay our utilities. We own our home free and clear and was to be our last home but our city put a homeless shelter next door. The people who run it don't care about the homeless it was so our town could get a grant. So the "homeless" are now destroying our property. The director and employees are never there. These are the kind of things that make people get angry not with God so much as with, "He said let he who lacks wisdom ask". Then there are the Christians we all know who always think if you as a Christian are not seeing prosperity, healing and other problems resolved then your faith us weak. Sometimes it's because unlike some Christians we know we don't always think everyone is getting it wrong. Life is hard, harder for some. We don't cut people out of our lives because they struggle alot, mess up sometimes, etc. My husband just worked 8 weeks for a "Christian legalist" that only paid for 3 weeks of work. Not the first time he's done it. I understand about generational curses, results if sin, etc. But I also know sometimes the devil just knows you are going to be tough to get away from God.

David cried out to God when in distress but didn’t doubt God will deliver him. Dax is showing tons of doubt in God and even speaking blasphemous towards him saying God fears him. I wouldn’t say they relate much but I will say his recent songs he seems to have matured as a believer. I believe which is apparent in this song and with most believers. He struggles with sin and sin is hindering his relationship with God. “He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.” Proverbs 14:2 “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.” John 9:31 Why would God acknowledge such a song that shows no fear or respect towards his. The words he uses shows he despises God I believe if he spends time in his word God reveals all to us

This is the first time I have ever seen your reaction show. I honestly only watched it because I saw the name DAX and that stopped me in my tracks. I couldn't hit the play button quick enough. A friend told me about how good his music was but I said I didn't listen to much of anything but rock music and I didn't even bother trying for a few months. I was riding with him one day and he played a song named Depression by DAX. It hit me like a ton of bricks! I could relate to everything he was saying. I couldn't wait to hear all his songs. I was playing them back to back. I mean I was totally blown away! I could feel his hurt, confusion, anger and disappointment in his words and music. His songs are sermons. I could tell he was a believer almost right away. After listening to his music I don't want to hear any other artist but DAX. He has inspired me in so many ways to do better with the things I struggle with in life. He tells it all in it's true manner like I have never heard before. I love this guy and I pray for him. I could tell every word he was singing was from deep in his soul. I take his songs to heart seriously because they are. He is definitely mineristng to us that listen to his work. He is the only artist that I understand every word he sings. I mean every word! I apologize for this being so long but it's something I need to say cause I never join these kind of forms because of people's crud remarks to others. I haven't seen that on here but this is the first time I've been on here. Well I've said all that to say this and not meaning what I'm about to say to be disrespectful or mean but the man in the sweat shirt ( sorry man I didn't catch your name at the beginning) didn't have an understanding much at all with the video and never answered a question but with a question never giving me much reaction but confusion. The other pastor was pretty good with most of his reactions with clearer answers. Even though he didn't relate correctly with everything DAX was singing in the video. I understand this is the first time you guys have heard DAX but I thought y'all didn't do well at all. Cause I understood him from the first word till last the very first time I heard his songs. Not only understood but felt it for real! I don't plan on ever hearing your show again for any reason. Again not being ugly or disrespectful to you guys. I don't think you should give your first reaction or impressions of someone you no nothing about. Because first impressions are usually wrong or judgemental because you have never walked in the shoes of that person to know what they have been through or going through. You could be misleading to your audience ( well ones that can't think for themselves ) bad then they go out and start bashing someone they no nothing about cause they took your impression and not there's. I just don't want someone being misled because of y'all's reaction. I understand y'all might mean this for good but you could accidentally mislead people and not realize it. I urge you both to listen to all DAX music several times if need be and get a full understanding of this man's talent and his true story. He is getting attacked spiritually from all sides. He wants answers and we all want answers. But we know we will not get most of those answers till JESUS calls us home. But GOD is an awesome GOD and HIS ways are always right even if we don't understand them yet. I encourage y'all to pray for DAX with his struggles and pain. He needs it and we all need it. Prayer is all we got and prayer is our most powerful tool. I don't know you two pastors but I think y'all thought this would be a good thing to do and it might be. Just please be careful and don't accidentally steer someone wrong. I'm not saying don't speak the truth( please do) just make sure it's the truth! May GOD bless you all, MARK.

I totally agree with the other comments. I think you(pastor) see this a little differently because you have such a strong faith and relationship with god. I feel like Dax was shedding light on the thoughts and feelings a lot of us are having lately. I think we are afraid to say these things for fear of being judged. Which sort of gives more and more power to the feelings and thoughts which makes them harder and harder to deal with. But for those of us just starting or restarting our spiritual journey, hearing these things out loud is very powerful and a huge relief. Feeling that weight lifting and realizing you are not alone gives us a nudge and helps us realize that the questions and issues we have are not problems to solve.. they are insecurities to overcome.. these insecurities can hold onto you and really keep you from moving forward and it really starts to cause pain and anger.... I think that is why so many of us credit dax for helping us find our way to god and believe god works through him on some level. His words take the power away and help us let go and begin to move forward again....

And I've listened to the song for a few years but never saw the video, and I've found my own concept of God that differs from religion but having been raised as a pastor's grandchild but also (on the opposite side of the family) an atheist's son, so I always felt this conflict (God is not all powerful, or he is not all good; not that it really matters either way in the end whether I die and it's back to the Cauldron for rebirth or it's Heaven or it's Hades (Greek Hades being the realm of the dead in general) or it's the void with eternal sleep). Seeing the video now for the first time, all I can think of is Jesus' crisis of "Why have you forsaken me?"

I used to be one of those atheists that went around calling out everyone I could, trying to explain why God couldn't be. What changed was I realized my mortality. Yes, death scares me, but that's not why I'm trying to believe. It's not just some airbag to be used as a last ditch effort at salvation. I terrified myself. I had multiple dreams where I saw myself from the third-person perspective, and I was completely terrified. I was disgusted with the monster that I saw myself becoming, and now I am attempting to make up for that. I still don't know what you would call me. I went my whole life calling Christians liars, but these days, it seems religion is all I have got. I may have a completely different perspective on this 6 months from now, but I know something needs to change. I still have my doubt. I'm still afraid. Some nights I can't even shut my eyes to sleep without crying & worrying what my family will do without me. A lot of the struggle is with believing in something that is not only bigger than yourself, but is incorporeal. We are matter. We eat matter. We breath matter. We study matter. Matter is all we know from an earthly perspective. That's why it's so difficult to believe in something that is not tangible. It's almost as if you're praying for answers from God, but all you receive are pieces of thought from your subconcious. When I pray, do I expect my prayers to be answered through actions or words? I originally thought "Words, of course!" I realized at that point that the voice I was hearing talk back to me was not that of God but that of myself. I no longer expect answers to my prayers through words, but actions instead. I still doubt many aspects of my faith, and I realize that I could "relapse" back into being a die-hard atheist once more at any time, but I am seriously making an effort to change my life & the lives of those around me. I know I'll probably get some people making fun of me or laughing at what I have to say, but I don't blame these people, because I was once one of them. It's only been a few days since I've had this radical change & I'm already beginning to say major changes within my personality & view of the world around me. I don't really know why I'm writing this. I'm expecting a lot of hate for it, but it's what I'm going through. I feel a lot like the father of the boy in Mark 9:24. You always want to believe, but your doubt makes you unable to. That is... until you have no other options but faith.

@@tiannaedwards6383 I'd say I'm doing pretty well. Thank you for asking! I've been having some ups & downs with deaths in the family, but I think I'm handling it alright. I still hold most of what I said in my post from a year ago to heart. Although my perspective changes a little bit every day, I've learned not to judge people for their belief systems. At the end of the day, it's not about which system is objectively right, it's about which system is subjectively right. Which one works for you. When atheists & religious people clash heads, nothing constructive ever happens & it took me a really long time to realize that. Longer than I'd like to admit. I still read the Bible (and occasionally the Torah or Quran), but I don't really identify very strongly with any one religion in particular. I still love talking about these sort of things, but I am no longer interested in arguing for the legitimacy of one side against another if that makes any sense. I hope this answered your question in some way. I'd love to hear some of your thoughts as well if you're interested in sharing!
