My art professor had a small talk session during a critique where he would talk about how back then camera's were once feared because many thought it would take the souls of people. I like to think that the reason why the kids souls are trapped within the photoalbum is because their souls had already belonged to the couple ever since their pictures were taken.

Whereas the pumpkin rabbit feels the need to kill you on the spot, the terrifying part of her is that she knows the house has no escape, and so she's basically never in a rush. Her one kill shows this patience to the extreme. She was hiding under the bed, and it was almost certain that she would have been willing to kill that kid in his sleep. But when she accidentally reveals herself, we see that stealth isnt her only option, just her preference, and she's perfectly capable of pure violence as well

Yes! I actually watched it without knowing about the Mysterious House video and enjoyed it immensely, especially since I didn't know exactly what to expect from the Watermans except that they're Really Really Bad People... and it was so good going in blind! And then I subsequently learned it was a sequel to a video called the Mysterious House, so I watched it, and then rewatched Return of the Pumpkin Rabbit again to fully appreciate all the callbacks and context, and I feel like that was a super satisfying way to experience both videos for the first time!

Something that always creeped me out about the new direction for the Pumpkin rabbit is his laughter. His direction and writing can really be seen when he's trying to get the kid in the Pumpkin patch to get his ball back. The "Can i have it back, please?" followed by a subtle laugh from the Rabbit is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Like he can't resist the idea of tearing him apart, and squeaks out a small out of breath chuckle. It's a great way to set the tone, and it really is a perfect sequel in every way. Great video!
@trancandy1Ай бұрын
his laughter unsettled me as well, especially when he's attacking the children, because it's such a polar opposite to the rest of his personality. he's polite, well-composed, and measured most of the time. but the second he gets his hands on someone, he sounds like a child excitedly opening a christmas present. there's something so uncanny about it

I like the overall doll like aesthetic to the new protagonists. It makes them feel more innocent and tiny overall, like they have no idea at all what is happening. It also makes the gigantic contrast between the two antagonists of the short with their hyper detailed designs, and how the cute exterior of the children(particularly the bat dog in the beginning) is ripped away once the pumpkin rabbit and the witch sheep tear into them.

Dino was honestly my favourite thing about the video. I don’t believe it’s confirmed, but he exhibits a lot of behaviours commonly associated with autism like echolalia, being easily distracted, and not expressing much. Which is a great attention to detail I would like to also mention some other things you didn’t touch on Billy and TVA: In the basement of the house, (also the place Tammy was shown to be killed in) We see Billy and TVA’s dead bodies. The main thing I would like to mention here would be that in the room Billy’s dead corpse is in, We can see a photograph from a couple years prior to Duckie and Tammy’s death showing that Billy and TVA were originally kids. which might imply that Billy and TVA were blackmailed into being alongside them. Which is horrifying. Ralph’s death: We can see Ralph getting mutilated by Lorenzo. (The Pumpkin Rabbit’s real name) Which vaguely gives us an idea of how he killed his victims prior to the events of this episode. I will add more stuff later on but yea this is all I am writing for now. Great video Pastra!

Also, its implied Billy and TVA were abducted by the watermans when they were small children. Theres a photo of both of them during the scene when jay finds Billy's body, while TVA's body became that weird record thing out in the hall.

Ngl The Return of the Pumpkin is WAY scarier than The Mysterious House, which didn’t really scare me for some reason.

The Mysterious House is more unnerving then flat out scary.

I was so stoked when I saw the thumbnail of this vid because The Return of The Pumpkin Rabbit is the only analog horror video that actually keeps me up at night. Like I actually had a nightmare that the pumpkin rabbit tore off my face, I was that scared of it. The Pumpkin Rabbit is one of the best villains in ALL of fiction, imo, because he’s so conceiving.. his voice is so deep and intimidating that as soon has you hear it, you know something up with him. His appearance in TROTPR is even scarier than the first video with him because he’s so bulky and uncanny.. in the first ep he at least looked like he fit with the rest of the cast, but now.. he just looks so alien. His horrifying laughter while he mercilessly tears the face off of the children while they’re screaming in agony is bone chilling. That first kill actually made me feel sick, it was so gruesome. As horrible as the pumpkin rabbit is, I can’t help but love him. He’s such an evil villain, he has no morality, no mercy, he’s just a monster luring in unsuspecting visitors with candy and hospitality, and I know that sounds weird to say I love him, but I love him from a villains perspective. That’s how you write an amazing antagonist, imo, lol. And seeing him finally get some long deserved karma was so satisfying and so gut wrenching. Being torn apart by the very children he murderer and left to rot inside his own home is one hell of a way to go. May he rot in hell for all eternity and never see the light of day again.😋 (Sorry for the rant, I just love the series sm)

IM SO HAPPY YOU DECIDED TO COVER THE NEW EPISODE!!! it makes watching the original/first episode of this series really funny cause you realize just how low quality it looks in comparison to how much martin has improved to now. it’s really amazing and it genuinely got me so bad when i first watched it, ESPECIALLY with the new art style and voice work. it’s so fucking good

It’s actually really cool in the intro when Pastra shows the first pumpkin rabbit and we see how Clyde’s design was back then to now. Times change huh.

There have been a lot of analog stinkers lately due to it's popularity but The Return of the Pumpkin Rabbit def isn't one of those which makes me happy because when done right, analog horror is imo the most scary horror format. (aside from videogames.)

First of all, great video! You cleary have enjoyed the effort put into making "The Return of The Pumpkin Rabbit" into as much of an piece of art as It is. But secondly, there is another detail in this short that you didn't mention, but it is one the creepiest things in the story for me. And that's the fact that TeeVee and Billy, the two other inhabitants of the Waterman house seen in "The Mysterious House", are revealed to have been a pair of previous victims in the photo album. Meaning that all the time Tammy & Ducky were around those two, *they were sharing the room with actual CORPSES of fellow children, without even noticing.* The retrospective horror is one of this movie's biggest strengths, and this detail absolutely adds up to that!

12:31 I whouldn‘t say they aren‘t canon. They kinda are just not to the main storyline of the series but more as it‘s own, different universe.

As soon as I watched it, my mind immediately knew that Pastra would love it! It was such a horrifyingly fantastic sequel that was somehow better than the first, which was already amazing!🧡🎃 I had such a hard time watching it, it terrified me so much. The art style was so disturbing, the voice acting was unsettling and is overall a huge improvement!

One thing I don’t see people talk about often but something I really appreciate is the odd way the pumpkin rabbit moves. He stumbles sometimes when he walks, wobbles a little bit, but even so he moves with purpose and never trips. He is much too efficient for that. When he isn’t stumbling, like when hes crawling through the cupboard to chase Jay or running through the pumpkin patch, his movements still look so freakish and unnatural. The way he seems to contort his body as he forces himself into the small space is sooo GRGRGHAGAGGRRRR!!! And the way he runs through the pumpkin patch is incredibly odd too, he just moves in such an inhuman way that I find so incredibly interesting. ALSO. ALSO ALSO ALSO. The repeating of “Mr and Mrs Waterman were very very bad people” leading up to the pumpkin rabbit himself saying it to taunt his victims is SO FUCKING GOOD ARGH

Best or worst part is that not all souls got freed I won't know where but one of the kids find a photo out from the album, and it seems it's the oldest, it never gets burned so the first two souls that they killed never get to be freed from their grasp, maybe dragging them down to hell too
