You know I never really realized it but the fact that Simmons knows the exact details of how the president died and knows that Helena abandoned her post despite only two people surviving the incident is an almost clear admission of guilt, as far as we know Leon never fully reports the details of what happened outside the president dying. There's also the fact that Simmons' family owns an entire ancient American catacomb and church with his family emblem plastered all over it that is filled with a monster making facility, if Leon just took pictures with his cellphone of the place it'd pretty easily implicate Simmons somewhat.

More than Sherry being wasted in this game, I still can't believe they brought her back... to be the SECONDARY character her campaign. She should've been the main character of her story, what the hell! Also, some fun from someone who played this campaign as the second player. During the final boss fight against Simmons, when Leon and Ada are on the part of the bridge, Helena is trapped in the building. And if you don't have any sniper rifle ammo left, tough luck, have fun just WATCHING the first player do the final boss the whole time. It's the same with Jake and Sherry's campaign, Sherry gets like two environment attacks, then she just watches.

Jake has to fist fight the not-Nemesis alone, Sherry is too weak and fragile with her wolverine style healing factor. For real though, how badass would it have been if Sherry got all mutated and fist fought the big guy instead? Or at least, like, the experiments on her made her more muscular at the midway point and we had a whole plot thing about her being a mutant. She could be legit scared of her mutations progressing further, like she gets progressively taller as we get to the finale and you have to find something to stop it. ... Or maybe big monster girls are just my fetish.

Leon's campaign would be alright if Simmons' motive was better. Everything else is just typical RE odd stuff. Metal Gear Solid V is way higher on my scale of stupid. It has all the typical mgs weird stuff but plays it all completely straight and comes off almost as nonsense.

There's a big difference between a game being advertised falsely or downgrading itself after a first premier, than games that just have lower graphical fidelity. People cared about graphics in cases like Mighty NO 9 and Bloodstained where the game looked worse than it did after it's first ad, but that doesn't mean that people were complaining about the graphics for games that are empirically worse looking if they always kept that same look. The fact is that in the 90s part of what made a game a GOTY contender was how impressive it was graphically. Now you have games that are literally imitating graphical fidelity from the SNES and NES days and are taking GOTY away from technical powerhouses.

The game barrels you so hard and fast underground that it would be LESS stupid if that was how you wound up in China, but instead you take a waterslide for an additional 3km on top of the 45km you already fell/spelunked/minecarted and then somehow surface in a lake right as Simmons deploys the Davy Crockett on Tall Oaks, USA

As someone that knows a little how planes and helos work. 1. If auto pilot was engaged like it was. Everything would have been fine. The plane would have been flying straight and level the entire time, until it ran out of fuel. The worse thing he could have done was disengage auto pilot. 2. At 11k feet (the height that Leon took over) decompression would have done nothing. It would likely be unpleasant to the passengers but nothing else. Even above that nothing bad would have happened to the plane although at 15k+ there is a chance of knocking the passengers/pilot out. Also the plane would have re pressurized after the door in the back was shut. 3. With only one engine damaged (as shown on the damage screen that don't exist on planes) the plane would have been flying easily. And there was no reason for that engine to go out in the first place. In fact turning the parallel engine out might have stabilized it a bit. 4. Increasing the throttle when making an emergency landing is bad. When landing you should have only enough airspeed to keep the plane from stalling. I understand increasing power if you plan on continuing flying, but Leon didn't seem to have that in mind. 5. The worse place to be in a crashed plane is the cabin statistically speaking. Yes, in a crash the most likely people to die are the people flying the plane. 6. I don't know as much about helos, but I do know you don't fucking pull up in one. If you do that you go backwards. You add power to go up. There are way to many things wrong about the plane scene to point out, these are just the major ones.

And the missile that produces the same fog is launched well after. Ada had to grapple over entire barricades to get to that area, and it's implied that the J'avo Jake & Sherry run into in that same area, which is after Ada, killed all the zombies. Because despite both being a result of the C-virus, they see each other as threats, particularly the zombies since we see them ignore Leon & Helena to go after Simmons during their boss rush against him.

The only way I can justify Simmons' actions is with a headcanon that perhaps the nuke that destroyed Raccoon City wasn't sent by the US gov't but by Umbrella. So if it came to public light that the US had such a poor handle on its nuclear arsenal that a corporation was able to get its hands on one and detonate it on American soil could serve as grounds that the UN could demand the US disarm, leading to trade embargoes and other ugly things that could cause trouble for us. This is just a headcanon but it would cast Simmons' in a better light.
