I don't understand the way Chris is getting antagonized in this series. The whole context of that situation is there's an invisible snake going around killing teammates, and so when Chris aggressively leads teammates to kill the snake and some guys die in the process he's somehow at fault. What exactly is the alternative? If they leave the snake it's just going to keep ambushing them over and over the longer they wait to kill it. Is Piers seriously trying to imply to Chris that he could've just waited the snake out? The way Piers was freaking out about Jake earlier makes me think his only purpose is to get mad over nothing and forcefully one up Chris every chance possible.

I think, credit where it's due, at least the game is depicting B.O.W.s actually being deployed in a warzone, on purpose, as weapons. Not just because a not-Spanish cult or African village was infected with them.

I think a lot of Pat's complaints about RE bio weapons are less effective when you remember that said bioweapons are basically magic. Like, conservation of mass went out the window with Birkin as far back in 2, so if you can instantly create an army of 10 million bullet proof shape shifting monsters from a single vile of cum then yeah that's not a bad power to have no matter how you slice it. Not defending RE6's writing or tone, mind you, but biopunk and weird mad science weapons are cool.

Even if Leon never directly told Chris about Ada, I feel like the BSAA would have had Ada listed as a person of interest, or at the very least had her listed as affiliated with Albert Wesker. Chris should at the very least be familiar with the name. It's baffling to, because you could still have a similar scenario play out between Chris and Ada by just changing up the dialogue and context. You could for example have Chris be suspicious of Ada/Carla, but ultimately give her a chance due to good word from Leon. This would make her betrayal sting harder, and would add to the drama between Leon and Chris in later scenes.

I'm honestly damn certain that Leon would never tell anyone about Ada after RE2 or 4 because of how thirsty he is for her and reporting her involvement with either incident would put her on a multitude of government watch lists. And until 6, I'm not sure anyone else who isn't immensely indebted to Ada other than Wesker ever interacted with her except for the ones that died not long after.

Im actually finding the Chris campaign to be decidedly less soul-crushing than Leon's, and I think that might be because Leon's tries to go for a tone it constantly undermines with absurdly stupid shit, while the tone of this campaign already is "absurdly stupid action-movie shit" so it at least feels consistent.

DKZK21 Man, you wanna talk soul-crushing, Leon's campaign is full of *anyone* within a 15 meter radius dying, it gets kinda ridiculous. It's so frequent to the point that the only two survivors in that campaign that can make it offscreen are two girls who can at least be saved. Leon's was depressing, Chris' was somewhere in the the middle, with a genuinely bittersweet ending, and Jake's is somewhat more hopeful.

Yeah, maybe it's less pronounced in other games in the series because the tone is better established in them, but Leon's first two chapters honestly feel... I don't know, mean-spirited? Like, the game goes absolutely out of its way to show people dying around Leon and Helena, and they don't just die either- that would be normal for the series- no, in Leon's campaign those innocent people don't just die, they fucking suffer hopelessly torturously gut-wrenching agony before they die. It comes off less that it's a dire situation in a dark horror setting and more that it's explicitly trying to be a miserable downer story... which is not backed up when you have a boss fight later on against a Geiger T-Rex in a bolo tie.

I mean, everything about the BSAA is Grade-A 100% Pure Bullshit. In RE5, the BSAA was a non-governmental organization formed by the "non Umbrella affiliated" pharmaceutical companies of the world. Sorta like the ESRB is the self policing rating agency of the videogame industry, the BSAA is the self-policing agency of the the pharma industry, to make sure another Umbrella never happened. But then in RE5, Tricell, a huge funder of the BSAA, ended up being just as evil as Umbrella, and they showed that they have the power to undermine the BSAA, like when they called all of their forces off Excella's trail, forcing Chris to go rogue. How the BSAA still exists at this point is a complete fucking mystery, since they've not only shown to be ineffective at their only job, but also VERY susceptible to corruption from their corporate backers.

I thinks its just accepted by Capcom fans now that the characters in Capcom games NEVER talk to each other outside of said games. Its the only way to explain how Chris doesn't know who Sherry is, how Chris doesn't know who Ada is, how Nero somehow never asked Dante anything about the Yamato or its previous owner despite Dante literally demonstrating that he knew how to use it, how Dante never mentioned Vergil to Nero despite knowing he was related to Vergil from the moment they met, etc. That or all Capcom characters are just monumental morons who never followup anything, which frankly isn't outside the realm of possibility.

I mean, that's not exactly uncommon. First impressions have always left the biggest impact. There are still people who are (rightfully) angry about how FFXIV 1.0 turned out, and no amount of fixing the game is going to take away that sting. If Pat had played FFXIV 1.0, he'd for sure feel the same about that game as he does about RE6. Same for No Man's Sky. I didn't play NMS on release but I 100% don't blame people for still being angry (at least those people who played it on launch). Again, no amount of fixing the game takes away the sting of the terrible frist impression.

Oh yeah, it's not just that Chris suddenly has his shotgun again after the flashback: He has the EXACT ammo loadout he did at the end of the flashback. So if he had, like, 30 handgun bullets before he had the flashback and 2 at the end of the flashback, he canonically fired off 28 completely unnecessary shots just to get back there. He may have magically acquired some grenades he didn't have before. Also, I don't mind Piers because he holds Chris accountable for his dumb Moby Dick bullshit getting people killed and he's super right to do so.

Now that I think about it, unless in this timeline presidents can still run for 3+ terms, there is no way Adam Graham would still be president by the time he died since he was the president back in RE4 (for context, RE4 is set in fall 2004 while this is from winter 2012 to summer 2013, that is about two terms worth of time in the US for presidents, and since presidents start their terms in February, that would mean Adam Graham was in power from 2000 to 2012-2013, possibly longer but I don't remember the presidents in the RE timeline as they were described in RE2-RE3).

I don't know why Pat is so hyperfocused on the grenade thing anyway. Since when has a villain EVER taken a prime opportunity to kill the good guys? And vice-versa, the good guys never take prime opportunities to kill the villain. It's not something exclusive to RE6 and its bad writing.

I bet that the various organizations that the Resi protagonists work for never team the veterans up with each other cause if they split them up more jobs will actually get done where as if they sent two vets on one mission and two newbies on the other, only one of those missions will get actually completed 90% of the time, but if you have one vet and one newbie on each mission then both will get done even if both newbies die.

I played Chris's campaign first and nothing made any sense so i stopped playing for awhile and only came back to finish it because of my love for RE4 and wanting to see Leon "The Hair" Kennedy more

Up until 6, they had all been protagonists for 2 games each, so i guess they were equal on presence. Jill probably got priority because she was the "main" protag for 1 and the only one for 3. Leon probably came next because he was the "main" protag for 2 and the only one for 4. Also factor in that 1-4 are considered the good games that most people like, Pat included. 5 was considered a shadow of 4 and 6 is a train wreck they tried to put behind them with the drastically different 7. Chris has also gone from being a kinda meh soldier to a "seen in every shooter in the past 20 years" soldier. He may have as much screen time as Leon, but i'd say he isn't as well liked, partly because he's either generic or over the top generic.

Considering Chris has been playable in eight games now, Jill being playable in seven games, and Leon being playable in five (if you count remakes and the Wii arcade-like shooters), they kinda all have enough games on their belt to be counted as main characters, but it is closer to being Chris and Jill being the toss-up.

I’m not sure I’ll continue to watch this playthrough. The combination of him refusing to play co-op (which is one of the major selling points of the game), bringing up an endless list of complaints that are either non-issues or things that most casual players wouldn’t care about, and his complete lack of suspension of disbelief in a shooty game with monsters is killing it for me. The game has its faults for sure, but I don’t think I can stand this attitude for the rest of the game.

Sometimes it feels like Pat doesnt even know why he's complaining. Like, he'll just say "oh no, oh no" but it's not actually directed at anything that is happening in the game. Also Pat's whole half finished sentence schtick where he'll just go "wait...wha...I don't...wha...I just don't..." is getting a bit wearisome.

I don't know if you'd noticed, but Pat isn't exactly a casual player of RE in general - so he's likely to pick up on things the average person wouldn't - RE6 is an OK game, but as a Resident Evil game it is some lowest common denominator shit. I would honestly rather play RE:Gaiden on the GBA than go through RE6 again. Also, as an aside - Pat is a fan of ranting about shit - if you're here on the 3rd vod for RE6 and you don't like how much he's ranting - it's possible Pat's streams just aren't for you - he wasn't exactly lenient on CVX for example.

@@4StringNinja I've been watching Pat since 2011 back when TBFP first started, so I'm pretty familiar with how he is. And I love his style most of the time. When he is getting legitimately angry at janky piece of shit games, then its genuinely hilarious. But I just feel like with this play through, his complaints just come across as really petty. I've been a huge fan of resident evil as well, pretty much since day one, and while RE6 is silly and a bit clunky, it's also a perfectly functional 3rd person shooter with some enjoyable action set pieces. It's not broken to the point of unplayability, its technically sound, and it looks pretty enough. It's certainly much better than CVX in my opinion.

I love Pat and Paige, but so far Pat is playing like shit honestly. I’m not expecting frame perfect speedrun strats, but I do expect the game to be played with at least a minimum level of competency. If you forget how to defeat a certain enemy, fine. I’ve seen another playthrough the year this game came out for Leon and Jake’s campaign and while it was co-op, they were playing a lot more efficiently than Pat currently is. And it was just a casual run to as they died at times. The difference between them and Pat is that they acknowledged the stupid bullshit that happens in the story but at least tried to have FUN with the game. Pat is not doing that. The “oh no..”, slow speaking and kind of tunnel vision (acceptable in certain cases, like with the snipers) really puts me off. You can at least try to play the game well. Not to mention, I don’t usually see Pat taking much advantage of the grenades he has or the evasive maneuvers. He’s kind of just going in there and tanking hits with Chris. The game does have a environmental combat system as well as a stagger system, but Pat doesn’t take advantage of it some of the time.

I remember watching the old LP when this came out. At the time I chalked this up to bad game cause "fuck I don't care about RE. and Pat said game bad." so I dismissed it. Anyway fast forward a couple of months and this one kid I found really annoying was talking about how he finally saved up enough to buy this and how it's rad. Of course that's my cue to tell him how he's a dumb wrong baby who sucks. Fast forward again to probably a month ago when RE 4-6 were on sale. I decided to essentially do exactly what Pat is doing and when I got RE 6 I had a genuinely good time. Not because the game was good: but because it's fucking rad. I stopped at Ada's part cause it's the most boring of all of them. when I moved on to RE7 I remembered that kid from high school and I realized I WAS the annoying kid. So now I stand here in the midst of constant whinging to say RE5 is dumb and sucks and RE6 is better. You will not prove me wrong.
