Patching a Ceiling Hole

When I moved to this flat in 2013, I noticed a hole in the kitchen ceiling and 'temporarily' patched it up with expanding foam and pollyfiller (it was an improvement over the scrunched newspaper that someone else had left).
In recent weeks, I've heard the scuttling and scratching sounds of rodents occupying the space above me. As I fear rodents almost as much as I do reptiles, I decided to patch this hole more in a smarter fashion.

Nice fix! For small repairs like that the DIY stores have ridiculously expensive small sheets of plasterboard. Far better is to drop in at the local builders merchants and see if they have damaged sheets. Normally a full 8x4 sheet with damage will cost £1, so they often give you the really small bits free! Certainly worth a look! 👍👍

thecorbies Hi Mark, Happy New Year. It's interesting you say that as a nest of dormice was recently discovered (and possibly disturbed) by the Environment Agency, in the village. They've had to halt work on a new flood defence system for the River Yeo (I'm in North Somerset).
