Very common for people in the Caribbean but we always thought it was due to the heat.
@Utsav_Viradiya3 ай бұрын
Well, you're not entirely wrong. This issue does seem to be more prevalent in tropical countries, including in my country India. While heat itself isn't directly related, increased sweating that comes with higher temperatures is somewhat connected.
@mechadonia3 ай бұрын
Yea i think the heat and humidity definitely contribute. I never had it until I moved to Puerto Rico, got it real bad all over my body. It didn’t hurt me or anything so I left it untreated, then I moved to Colorado where it’s bone dry and cold, and it totally went away. Then I moved to New York where it is humid as well, lo and behold it came back.

Back in the 90s I got this all over and was convinced it was vitiligo as my mother has widespread vitiligo, I went to the doctor for something else and he spotted it and told me to treat with anti dandruff shampoo, as it was Tinea Versicolor and not vitiligo it went away so the moral of the story is if you have something going on with your skin go and get it checked out because it might actually be well worth it!

Had pitiriasys since I was 16, and now I am 42, tried everything my dermatologist prescribed and never managed to get rid of it completely, it comes back when the weather gets warmer or i am stressed. What worked is as doc suggested simply showering with anti dandruff shampoo, waiting a bit and then scrubbing with a microfiber cloth (I use the same cheap type I use in the kitchen lol). Sometimes when I can I leave diluted shampoo on my body, let it dry and rinse it off a few hours later. It's annoying but it's the only way for me that somewhat helps.

Tinea versicolor can be treated and reversed very quickly with the volcanic and organic sulfur combination in Skinlyte soap. Skinlyte has a soap that is loaded not only with collagen but also keratin peptides. It is called Hair & Whole Body Bar. It is fast absorbed because it has an enhanced binding enhancement technology which produces a water molecule that hydrates skin and hair. It repairs, rebuilds and strengthens hair and skin. I got it at Amazon and I am impressed with new benefits I discover every time I use it. I noticed many improvements in my hair, skin and nails. What I like best about it is that it's all natural and without harmful chemicals such as synthetic dyes, fragrance, SLS or preservatives.

So glad your channel randomly came onto my feed last month! I’m hooked and appreciate your knowledge!! I was diagnosed with morphea earlier this year after many ongoing doctor visits. First started with a dark spot near my elbow the size of a half dollar. Now I have two giant discolored marks on the backs of both of my legs. The dermatologist did biopsies and I took the prescribed medications and creams but nothing has worked. Originally was told to go to an infectious disease doctor who did all the blood tests that came back healthy. Am I going to have permanent marks forever? It has been 5 years with the elbow mark and around 3 with the leg splotches.

I had TV for 35 years. Nothing worked and I tried everything OTC and from my derm. multiple rounds of fluconazole even the big bomb dose and every topical or shampoo. it would go away for 6 weeks or so and then come back (constantly using topicals and scrubs for maintenance). A couple of years ago the wait was so long for my derm that my primary care PA said let's find something else. I took a course of itraconazole and I use ketaconazole as a body wash for two years and it has never come back and that's here in humid Houston. Derm said it shouldn't have worked but it's gone so I don't care. And I have a new derm.

Wow crazy to see you guys do a video on this. I've struggled with tinea versicolor for over a decade. For some reason mine is actually worse in the winter, not sure if it's because the climate where I love tends to be very humid in winter and dry in summer. I also sleep super hot so being under big blankets in the winter makes me super sweaty. Never knew you could use dandruff shampoo for maintenance, I will definitely be doing that. I find the breakouts of TV very uncomfortable, makes me really itchy and can sting sometimes.

Without even bating an eye, doc told me to get head and shoulders Clinical Strength and just wash my hair with it for a few weeks. Works 100% Takes a few weeks or even months to go away all together. I even put some directly on the spot that was darkest and wow did it ever get angry! I wouldn't leave it on directly for a long time! just wish your hair and let it cover you that way. Respected my doc for it 100% didn't try to sell me some OTC cream, just a bottle of shampoo did the trick. Foot fungal cream doesn't work as well as H&S. Now I just H&S time to time. I think the biggest trigger of this is I was in the habit of showering before going to bed and you are not really 100% dried off all the time as you should be. And as gross as it sounds, didn't change my sheets as much as I do now/should have. So get the H&S, don't shower and go to bed right after before you can fully dry and change your sheets. Problem solved!

For the last 2 years I was told that I had guttate psoriasis, and then they said I had tinea versicolor. None of the treatments I had worked at all and the rash got worse… I had more tests recently and it turns out that I’m allergic to codeine, which is a medication I’ve been taking for a few years for my back pain after a severe injury needing multiple surgeries (still to this day) The allergic reaction I’m having is hives! So now I’ve had to stop the medication and over the past couple weeks I’ve noticed it’s going away, but now I’m in absolute agony because I can’t take the meds anymore… any ideas of a strong painkiller I could take? My doctor isn’t prescribing me any painkillers until it’s fully cleared up, paracetamol doesn’t even touch it and I cannot live with this pain.

I was diagnosed with it when I lived in New Orleans. Mine is hypo pigmented and when I drink, the rest of my skin turns red but the tinea versicolor stays white. My dermatologist said it was very common in the south. We tried a variety of different creams and washes, but nothing worked. He said it was recalcitrant and said don't worry if it doesn't bother you. 20 years later I still have it because I have lived in hot humid climates this whole time. I am also a back sleeper who does not toss and turn at night and sleeps "hot". So my back gets sweaty and allows for the yeast to flourish.

I was pregnant when I forst realized ot jas taken over my entire back almost(and only my back) I told my doc about it and suggested tinea Versicolor, she said the thinks it's "pregnancy face" although it wasn't on my face 😒 long story short, I treated it myself with medicated season blue.. also had an actual derm check it out, he refused to treat it with oral meds. He said it wasn't dangerous to pregnancy, he just wouldn't prescribe them. Obviously, he was an A.h.
