Glorious video! I really appreciate the shoutout, thank you so much. I found your channel when I was looking in to buying my Velo Orange Polyvalent and watched your review a thousand times. I’m grateful for your channel.

Wow, Russ ❤ thank you so much! You’re literally the first channel I’ve ever subscribed to on KZbin. The gorilla monsoon I ride to this day was because of your review even! Thanks for the shoutout, supple life forever!

Thank you for the shoutout Russ! Really cool to experience after watching you for over 7 years. Despite being clad in a gaudy lycra skin suit, I am happy to join you in the fight to promote lower, sensible gearing and comfortable bikes.

You are the best! Thanks for the shootout. You are my inspiration for making videos on this platform and showing people that there is more than one way to enjoy cycling. Thanks. PS. Sorry for the fast-talking. I promise I will slow down 😉

A great list. I’m also a big fan of Trace Velo. He’s definitely more on the roadie racier side of things, but with oddball Chinese components and bikes. His channel inspired me to breathe new life into an old bike with an L-TWOO groupset, which also gave me a chance to learn how to install a groupset without risking a bunch of cash on a more mainstream groupset.

Cycling KZbin is a gift for us people in television land, thanks, Russ, for your work and for calling out the good work of your peers. Tim Fitzwater and Henry Wildeberry and Hardtail Party are three favorites of mine, my answer to your query about viewer preferences. GCN, too, with their increased off-beat content these days, not that it ever was just about watts and aero, they just get a bad rap from people who probably ask to speak to a manager everywhere they shop. And at age 65, I'm still into all of it because I grew up that way on the OG alternative bike for kids, a Schwinn Sting-Ray. I rode everywhere on that bike,, streets and trails and empty lots and even the gravel farm roads outside Fresno under that warm California sun in 1971 and one afternoon me and a friend had to ride super fast after we stopped to look inside a barn and the farmer came looking for us. That was my friend's bad idea. 😀

I really appreciate this episode. We have a pair of Surly ECRs so I’ll be checking out Ottawa. I also have been trying to relearn the little bit of Spanish I used to know so will also try the Spanish bike channels. I do appreciate content that gets into physics of efficiency and I’ve nerded out on tire pressure and aerodynamics. But only for making it easier for wife and I to be more efficient with our trail riding, bikepacking, and touring. The racer centric channel can’t keep my attention very long. At the other extreme, the “navel gazing” channels lose me at the intro. What I do hope to see more about where to find “communities”, clubs, and adventurous people who seek to make human powered travel more social and festive.

I'm not a racer anymore, but I still like going fast. That being said, I like all kinds of bikes. Thanks for pointing out the German language channels. German is my second language. I spent two years at the Uni Salzburg studying Germnanistik and Poli Sci. Sounds like a good way to learn bike related vocabulary.

I find myself watching Fillipino biking channels on many occassions despite not speaking a lick of Tagalog. The darndest thing is you can understand a decent portion of what they are saying, something I cannot say for any of the other foreign language biking channels I watch. Thank heaven for Taglish / Tanglish. That is truly a weird linguistic phenomenon. Not all of them do it, but a lot of Fillipinos almost speak 20 to 40 percent English randomly interspersed with Tagalog. I totally don't get why they do that... but hey, works for me.

Almost surprised Trace Velo was not included just because of how his almost exclusive focus is on affordable bike parts. Though I realize he might be a little too road-centric for the off-road crowd. Kind of been wishing he would jump on the gravel bandwagon.

What I’m tired of is the word “content” to describe peoples’ videos, etc. Right up there with the word “space” in describing one’s genre/medium.

Same here. Not sure which word I dislike more. I suppose the bright side is not every channel is referring to themselves as 'influencers'. Really surprised that has not become an even bigger buzzword. Definitely some backlash to that term.
