here is the first pattern test comparing the franchi affinity 3 & the girsan mc312 side by side at 40 yards with the same choke & load to really see how they differ in pattern performance
in today's test i shot the apex s3 steel 1 1/4 oz payload of #2's going 1450 fps with the patternmaster code black duck full choke
there will be many tests between these two coming to the channel for turkey & waterfowl!!

When you talked about gel penetration I had a ridiculous idea, that you guys just might be interested in. Put the gel in a cherry picker, or similar, and see how penetration works when you're fighting gravity shooting upwards.

Hi! Im an engineer. I dont think theres any point to it. I can try to explain. Gravity will accelerate any object straight downwards by 9,81 meter/second, every second (Meter/seconds^2). That means if you shoot a target 90degrees up and it takes the projectiles 1 second to arrive at target, the total effect of gravity would reduce the velocity by 9,81 meter/second. Normal velocity for steel birdshot is 425 m/s. The drag force acting on the projectiles is so much higher that you can simply neglect gravity in terms of energy at target.

In my Girsan I use a carlson close range cremator....using Win. #3 1 1/8 in 3" for most of my hunting....but bluebird days I might switch to the med. range black maxx using the same loads. Both pattern very well....very even and dense patterns. Stick with #3 shot and shoot 'em in the lips....works for me

I'm running a jebs and number 2 Kent's with my girsan and it's a better pattern than every other gun I own. Gotta play with chokes and loads. It shoots winchester horrible but my other gun shoots winchester the best and Kent crap

I don’t waterfowl hunt, however I dog deer hunt. I bought the Trulock Boar Blaster for my new Girsan MC312 and my goodness I love it. For 400$ gun and 55$ choke it’s a nasty unit. Only had it 2 months, killed two bucks. Patterns best with 3” 000.. I don’t like the pattern master in it.

It’s not about pattern density or penetration with steel. The issue is energy transfer compared to denser non-toxics.

Steel got a bad rap in the 80’s for crippling a lot of birds. First and 2nd gen unbuffered loads did not pattern well when people shot them out of grandpa’s old full choke A5. I’ve killed a lot of ducks and Geese with steel , It word and works well.

And to test it, it’s not close to the Franchi although it shares similar features, it’s more like the stoeger m3500 in our eyes The real question is why would I not put a $396 inertia driven semi-auto that can chamber 3.5’s with that uses the benelli beretta Mobil choke (which gives us 4 guns we can test in that thread) to the test on the channel? The reason I do what I do is I want to help y’all find the perfect setup for your application and for many (including myself) this budget Gun could be just that saving y’all BIG time on the purchase allowing you to test more chokes or ammo or just save the extra
