Some people don’t understand but ancient people had very low life expectancy, literally for the very reason we take precautions when we go into the wild. Its like people who say eating raw meat is the way to go, yea in todays world where the meat is healthily available you could try but death from sickness was very very common back in the day and theres multiple reasons, including disease why we started preferring cooked food. Just going back to some nomadic idea of life is fine but incorporate basic logical precautions so you don’t die as early as the nomads did on average lol

Wow, really surprised by this story. I'm currently cycling across the Amazon rainforest, all along the Trans-Amazonian highway. I have a fair share of hiking/trekking/camping experience, yet I'm complete novice in the Amazon jungle. But water filter and at least GPS on my phone were like among the first items I was thinking of before hiking into the jungle. I though that Mr. Rosolie must be a top tier hiker/nature survivalist, but this story is just downright silly. And adding a fact that he brought an inexperienced person into all of this makes it horribly irresponsible. Usually I dislike Rogan interrupting his guests, but he is asking the right questions. Meh. What a drag.

The mistake Paul and JJ made is believing nothing is gonna go wrong and everything is going to go to plan. Everyone and their mother knows, even on the most basic of backpacking trip, that you should always pack like you're going to be fucked and need to camp for the night. Depending on how remote you're going, you may pack like you're going to be trapped for upwards of a week. Moral of the story, never assume your trip is going to go to plan because when it doesn't, you're going to be on "I Shouldn't Be Alive".

And I would never even go camping behind my house with bringing water or knowing exactly where I'm going to get it. That's just plain stupid. He said they drank all their water because he thought they'd find more. You don't play games like that when you're 20 miles away from civilization.
