There is a great carpool karaoke with James corden where he and Paul go to that house and have a sing song on the old piano there... They had only been there a few mins and had already gathered quite a crowd of fans wanting to see Paul.. It's worth checking it out here on you tube.. He was telling James how the lyrics.. Got my coat and grabbed a hat.. Made the bus in seconds flat... From the song A day In the life... Was written about when he lived there at forthlin Rd.. And he and John wrote many of the early beatles songs in that house

@@BrightmoonLiverpool Absolutely. Your travels are like a Masterclass in Beatle tourism, David! I believe we may have some Beatle People in common amongst our friends. Would it be alright to send you a link of a project I'm currently producing? You would be a great resource for my production. I don't want to post randomly but if you have a DM or something let me know and I'll send. Cheers

T HANK YOU. You know, for most of my life I thought John was the major author of Beatles songs. But I'm finding out that Paul was the heavy lifter of the two. Well, either way I love them both. I have always said that the Beatles where the best, are the best, and will ALWAYS be the best. Thanks again.

Paul's brother Mike did OK for himself too.. Although not as big as the beatles his band The Scaffold had around 20 singles Inc the number 1 hit Lily the Pink.. had quite a few albums too
@BrightmoonLiverpool Жыл бұрын
He performed as Mike McGear, not wanting to trade on the McCartney name. The Scaffold were brilliant! Mike is still around and a great guy.

Hi i could not see a blue plaque on the house. Does anyone know why?
@BrightmoonLiverpool2 жыл бұрын
To qualify for an English Heritage Blue Plaque, one of the main criteria is that you must be dead for at least 20 years. Sadly that means John qualified for one mamy years ago and George does now qualify too. Thankfully, Paul and Ringo don't yet.

Great, must visit it one day. Lower middle class. Was there a phone in the house? It certainly wasn't common and I wondered whether middle classes would have them or whether it was still a luxury. As, I recall, it was sometime in the 7's before waiting lists to have one came down to just a few months and were affordable by working class people.
@BrightmoonLiverpool2 жыл бұрын
There was a phone in the house because Mary was a district nurse so she had to be able to receive calls if she was needed. It would have been a rare thing, definitely. Even when the working-class homes got them, they were often party lines, shared with others.

@@BrightmoonLiverpool Thanks for that, mate. My main reason for asking was I was dubious about the story of McCartney being late for the 1st official meeting with Epstein. Apparently they phoned to say he was in the bath. So, clearly I was wrong in my dubosity (I know it's not correct but I like the sound) regarding the phone. Though, still dubious that someone was having a bath at 10 in the morning in those days. And that it was Paul McCartney that was the one who was late. The most business serious and savvy of the Beatles late? Not that I'm saying there are terrible lies going on here. Apocryphal stories are generally told to tell a truth. And it's Harrison's comical response that does that - an example of Beatle's humour. But then, of course, maybe it was McCartney having a bath at 10 in the morning and seemingly oblivious to the import of the meeting. It won't be the first time I've been wrong. Once again, thanks for that full and interesting reply. Cheers.

I had the honor and pleasure of being in 20 Forthlin in Dec. 1981 when then-owner Mr. Jones opened the front door and graciously allowed this Yank in for a walk around. As I was climbing the stairs, he yelled up that Paul's bedroom would be the first room I saw after doing a 180. I have two photos from inside....the brown carpet with yellowish inlays on the staircase, and from outside Paul's bedroom looking in. Menlove Ave's owner was not as gracious.
