This was such an awesome song. It is a crime that The Raiders don't get the credit they deserve. You hear that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?!!!! Paul Revere & The Raiders should be inducted and every band member through the end of their contract with Columbia Records should be included in the induction. I mean, this was the very first Rock and Roll act signed to Columbia Records! The hall of fame needs to pull their snobbish heads out of their asses.
@Scott-oe7tp3 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t agree more, the so-called hall of fame doesn’t have the raiders or Steppenwolf but does Hall and Oats? Whitney Houston nominated...but not these guys? This is a travesty, like Steve Miller said when finally inducted a couple years ago..it has little to do with rock n roll anymore.

The R & R Hall of fame is pretty clueless. I believe they chose American Pie as one of the top 5 greatest songs of all time , to which I say the song is 7 verses too long and The Hollies are a far better tribute to Buddy Holly than the stinking American Pie song. "Drove my Chevy to the Levy" ... there are no levies in the midwest, and 50's teenagers didn't drink whiskey and rye.

The release of Sgt.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, album, marked a definitive turning point for the Beatles, at least on a conventional level. For instance " Dedicated to The One I Love " , sung by The MaMas an PaPas ( originally recorded by the Shireles early in 1961 . Then , The MaMas an PaPas redone the Phil Specter tune inid - 1966 , and I heard it sung by the Mamas an PaPs latter part of mid 12/ 1966 , and the tune carried over to Jan. to mid 2 / 1967. Anyway , The tune on the video I'm not familiar with @ all. Can't say I ever heard it played over the Air-;waves . Especially , Philadelphia's " Famous 56 " WFIL !

I've always remembered this one (since it was in color unlike Where the Action Is was back then). It aired in winter and I remember my best friend Dayle coming over to see it (they didn't have a color TV yet). After the show, my uncle had to take my friend home and his car had iced over. I just remember the three of us scraping and scraping to get the ice off the windshield, so my girlfriend could get home. My uncle Joe gave me dirty looks for the next week, but Dayle and I had a wonderful time.

I remember this performance. I saw them at my rich uncles house. You know... The Raiders in color! Up to that point I would only see them in Black and White on the Show "Where the Action Is"

I haven't heard this song since it was on the radio in the 60's. The oldies stations don;t play it at all. As much as these guys were in TV back then, I don't see how they just don't rate airplay these days.

Paul Revere and the Raiders had a very strong following in the Seattle area. Local disc jockey at KJR would do short interviews with the band every couple of weeks. They were a great band and live performances of theirs were a blast.

Thanks to Fang and everyone for some great radio tracks. When I started in '68 your catalog was "then" - and it sounded great on a loud top-40 AM station like the one(s) I worked at. Coming out of a strong station ID with the first couple of keys on "Just like me" is pure radio power. Cool to think about it again...

One of the hardest rockers the group ever released with the band throwing in a deliciously politically incorrect stanza...... I walked into the washroom, and I built myself a fire Threw on lots of paper and the flames kept gettin' higher The janitor come runnin' in, so scared his face was white So, I explained my situation, he said "That's all right" Hats off to Mark for getting this line past the censors in "Steppin' Out"...... Official lyric...... "I told you once, I told you twice You're kind of rowdy after walkin' on ice" Lyndsay sings....... I told you once, I told you twice Stop your cuntin' around or else I'll put you on ice The Sixties really were the best and the worst of times.

Boys and girls the above lyrics are taken from the official releases not this vid, duh! Willing to bet none of you know why the stanza mentioned is politically incorrect.

@@buckjohnson1119 Men's minds were on girls, smokin' dope and listening to music in the 60's. If, in your mind that is the"gutter", what a sad set of values corrupt your brain.
