For those who don't' want to waste time. The actual subject "Atom LT vs Proton LT" is discussed at 10:25. I've lost 10 minutes leaning some common sense info until guy got to the point. Though it's worth to mention that the answer to the question regarding the difference between the two Arcteryx peaces was right to the point - very clear and comprehensive. :)

Do you not find the sides let in the wind? Looking to get one but it's my main concern. Sure it's what I want when I'm hiking up, but would I not be cold when sitting at the top with the wind making away with my heat from the side panels?

Paul, I love your Q&A sessions. Doing them from your backyard and having the dogs in the background is an absolute treat. I got a good laugh at how you explained the ramblers association. Here in the PNW of the US I have joined an association that does scrambling: Hopefully as the vaccine rollout gets going I will be able to get skills to try my first grade 1 scramble. At what should I worry about rope work and getting formal training in rope skills?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric. We love the "Ramblers"! That's great that you're pushing your limits and exploring some scrambling. If you have no previous experience with climbing or ropework etc. I would definitely recommend that you seek some advice/training before embarking on anything more vertical. Alternatively, find a scrambling "buddy" with the relevant skills and go out with them and learn on the job, that's how I learnt "back-in-the-day".

Good video. On the question about flat feet - m feet are as flat as a pancake and he flattest one Physiotherapist had ever seen. He referred to me to a private Podiatrist. I went and although expensive, I got fitted with orthotic insoles which I slip in the boot underneath the existing insole. Never had any issues since, so worth a pun if the questioner hasn't already sorted it out.

Hey Paul! Thank you very much for your interesting and really helpful videos. I appreciate that very much! Thanks to you i bought the revised Atom LT Hoody! 😎 I ❤️ it! But: I have a wish! I would be interested in your opinion about Norrona. I own several products of them and i am a big fan! They perform great! Thank you and best wishes from Germany, Felix

Hey Felix, I have personally never used a Norrona product and they're fairly hard to find here in the UK, so unfortunately I can't comment! Glad you're enjoying the Atom LT, though. Harry

Great advice as always thanks for all the videos they are extremely helpful. lm looking for a bit of advice, need a lightweight, stretchy wind jacket for spring summer exploring the Scottish hills. I tried the rab borealis after one of your reviews which is perfect apart from the sizing (bursting out the chest in medium, large could fit an extra person in the waist). What is the closest alternative from another brand that may fit better (more forgiving chest with slimmer cut torso?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart. It's a shame that you couldn't get on with the Borealis, it's one of my go-to bits of kit when I need a "lightweight, stretchy wind jacket for spring summer exploring". The Arcteryx Gamma SL Jacket is a great alternative and has a great fit - www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/arcteryx-mens-gamma-sl-hoody-black__42077

I’m hoping to do a multi day hike in May in the UK. Probably going to hike 15-20 miles per day. I want advice on which mid layer to buy. I don’t want anything that I’m going to overheat in, but want to avoid getting cold whilst in camp at night. Your recommendations would be much appreciated
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark. I'm afraid that you can't have your cake and eat it! A midlayer that won't cook you when hiking has to be light and breathable, as you will be generating heat as you hike and you won't want it to be too warm. Lightweight fleece is perfect for this job, or even the superb Mountain Equipment Switch jacket, I've used one of these for years and it's one of my favourite bits of kit. When you stop you'll need a warmer jacket, that packs up small and can be carried in your pack, a lightweight down jacket is perfect for this job, something like the Rab Kaon. www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/rab-mens-kaon-jacket-dark-sulphur__41852 www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/mountain-equipment-mens-switch-jacket-cosmos__39262

Paul, I have a question for you. How is it when i put my tweed jacket in the dry cleaners, why does it always come back with a green jelly baby in the pocket ?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Well, that certainly is a conundrum! I suspect it’s because they know what a wobbly and jelly like little chap you are, and they know that you’re a sweet little thing really. Thanks for such an erudite question.

@@trekitt I believe that could be the case, thank you for pointing it out and look forward to sharing a cup of coffee with you soon, no jelly babies.

I have been researching down jackets and looking at about the 200g mark of down. I like Rab and was wondering what the main difference in purpose between the Electron pro and the Infinity light jacket as they both are a similar weight?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alwin, the main difference between the Electron and the Infinity is the weather resistance and breathability, with the Infinity having the greater of both thanks to the Gore Infinium membrane. I hope that helps. Paul.

I used to own the electron and currently own the Infinity. The electron fit much slimmer while the Infinity is design to for over all your layers. I also find the Infinity to be much warmer, probably due to the box baffle construction. I wear the Infinity in windy Summit at -20c (probably -40 wind) and my face, legs were the only part that was cold.
