daveheel the choreography was very solid. paula herself was a trained dancer. that is why she looked flawless here. she had the technique and deliver the emotions correctly. and the choreo.really really paid attention to the spacial dimention. and the most important was the camera let the artist perform. it u see nowadays stage performance.like this, they tend to take picture with more sophisticated technique. it is meant to produce great picture in the screen, but mostly it fails. simplicity is always best because the artist has looked fabulous already.

I gotta say I fell down the Abdul rabbit hole today & have watched this production in amazementat least a dozen times. Even to the stair step backs. Plus, this song has always been clever & happy dance track to hear. ZThat audience in 1990 must have been stunned. Damn.

Its very difficult to sing live while putting so much energy into a complex dance number. Even the best musicians struggle with it.

***** Award shows and concerts are designed as a mix of both visuals and music; if all the audience wanted was her voice, they'd have stayed home. Most performers lip-synch at least some of the time, especially if the production requires a lot of fast or repetitive movements. I'd challenge anyone who disputes this to try singing full volume while running on a treadmill, or skipping rope...all the while maintaining consistency.

You should see some of BTS' iconic performances (like their performance of ON at the Grand Central Station, or DIONYSUS 2019 MMA, BUTTER at the Grammy Awards, and finally, IDOL at Melon Music Awards 2018 which took stage performance to an entirely new level (just watch the intro alone...it's marvelous).
