The point is that most people only superficially know a few stories that they've heard at church, Sunday school, TV and are generally popular in our culture. However the majority of the rest of the bible is full of war ,rape, incest, genocide and instructions on how to mistreat women and keep slaves.

But the highlight of the last two weeks was the appearance of free book written by Ken Ham and Bodie(sp? Eh, I don't care how it's spelled) about how to keep young people from leaving the faith. I don't get people's issue with Peterson. He's not a traditional Christian in any sense. He just has interesting ideas on the importance of the faith in western culture. He's a phd psychologist and reader of Nietzsche, etc. No dummy. Not a misogynist either. It's scientific fact that men and women have unique characteristics. People can believe all the superstitions they want about it but it won't change the facts.

To give my opinion on Shannon’s question: I don’t know when we were ensouled. But the point I believe that we needed salvation (not because of our ancestors sins but our own) is when we as a species reached the point of self awareness. When altruism vs selfishness stopped being a function of instinct, after all we see altruism in animals) and a function of the rational mind.
