Been cutting my own hair in this style since I was 19 (I'm 33 now). I knew where I wanted may hair to sit, all the different lengths I wanted, and where I wanted those lengths. The hairdressers I'd gone to could never get it right, so I started doing it myself. I began with little ponytails everywhere, and slowly learned how to save myself time with these basic 4 sections. I've had my hair at different lengths, but always in this style, and I'm able to get it done in around 15 minutes before I shower now (with the help of one of those combs that clamps down and keeps my hair in place). It's good to know it's done the same way by professionals.

I was Sassoon trained, so all of these pony tail cuts cause my brain to explode...but I do it because hair SHOULD be creative and "precision" shouldn't be the only way. This is beautiful.

I just now did this cut myself. I have much shorter layered hair to the top of my shoulders. Omg did it ever work!!! Perfect! Been cutting my own hair for a few years in layers but my fringe/bangs, face frame and back layers were always kind of crooked and not quite right. Now it’s puuurfect! 🎉 Thank you!

How did you decide where to cut the second ponytail on the back? You said about 2 1/2” but what’s the rule of thumb to know, for example with shorter hair?

Would you be able to achieve the same results doing it in two steps? The bigger pony tails first and then resectioning and doing the smaller ones?

Either or, I do the wolf cut on dry hair. In Asian hair salons there's a new trend of dry cut to prevent split ends. It's now popular in Japan and Korea 😊

It's a great cut! Super versatile too, you can add little plaits or clips or bobbles anywhere you want to change the style drastically.

Question, how do you get more loose waves like that when your hair is straight like an asian ? I have the same color hair as this model but really thick and straight. It does not fall that way if i cut it that way, it still falls flat

It looks uneven in both length and weight. I would be happy if this was the result of a home haircut. I would be devastated if this was the result of a paid for salon cut.

Im a trained hairdresser and I really dislike these haircuts, they're OK if someone's doing it at home on shoulder length hair but on longer hair they can easily end in disaster. I've just watched the end and that second pony has caused a ledge, which a hairdresser could make look OK, but at home as a DIY there's no chance. I've seen so many fails of these online, and had to fix them for clients who've done it... while they can look OK they never look great, and if a salon is charging to do this to a client... I despair.
