Nor as a grandma! I used a daycare when my girls were very little. My oldest daughter was in preschool and also went to the daycare. She got head lice. Without my consent the owner treated BOTH of them for head lice without my consent. The owner got it in my youngest daughter's eyes. I wound up in the ER with my youngest when she came home. Her eye had swollen shut. She wasn't even two at the time. They put drops in her eye to see if anything glowed. The glowing part was what was the part that had something wrong with it. Her whole eye was glowing! We had to go to several specialists. I wanted to either beat that lady's ass or sue her. But since she was someone who knew my folks my mother begged me not to sue her. I left my job until the kids started school full time. Never again will I trust a daycare. For those that do I'm happy it works for you. But that's something I could never do again.

As a single mother who was going through 15 years of literal he.ll with my ex husband constantly calling cps, police, dragging me through courts for 15 years, I was extremely picky who watched my kids, I vetted them well and if something like a burn would have happened, I would have brought my child to a paediatrician, called cps and cops and never would my child have stepped foot there again. The lady worked for a paediatrician, you can’t tell me she makes peanuts, you can’t tell me she doesn’t have days off for holidays she could have taken to stay home with her child until she could find a competent carer. I knew I wasn’t going to like her, but when I heard her accusations, oh boy. I worked in daycares before and if there is a burn on a child, it’s SERIOUS!! As caregivers, we need to be vigilant with those we watch so that they are safe. I am not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s a big accusation and it should be reported if true. Their lies only made the mother look even worse than if she had just fessed up that she couldn’t afford to pay! Maybe if she had been honest, the daycare provider might have worked out a deal of some sort! Life lesson #1 - honesty is the best policy, in AND out of court!!!
