PayPal Standard offers seller protection, but what about advanced checkout - does that offer seller protection?

Two questions: 1) With Advanced Card checkout, is it possible to NOT have the Venmo option show up? 2) Our organization qualifies for a non-profit with PayPal. Will upgrading to the business account jeopardize that?

1) Venmo is built into PayPal. So if someone uses the Venmo button the money just flows into your PayPal account. Like all other payment buttons. You cannot disable it. 2) I don’t believe it would remove your not for profit rate. But that would be a good question to ask PayPal in their chat to get an official answer.

@@PayableApps Thank you for your response. We will check with PayPal about the non-profit part. We are also trying with Square and see that when we get to the payment screen , Apple Pay and Google Pay appear near the top in the Express Payment Box rather than under the Payment Options at the bottom of the screen. Is there a way for all three of those to be lumped together under Payment Options. Our test group found the fact that they were separated very confusing.

Feel free to chat with us at help.payableapps.com - The Reason Apple Pay and Google Pay are listed at the top is because they are "Express Checkout Options" which is the industry standard to put them at the top. These payment options (Apple Pay and Google Pay) provide us with Contact Information, Shipping Information, and a Payment Card all with one button touch. So when you use those buttons, you as a customer do not need to manually enter your Name, Email, Contact Info, ect, which is lower down in the form. The Payment options listed below (Card, Cash App), in the page, would require to fill out the other inputs since they just provide payment.

I clicked the link and apparently I will be moved from the Inline to Advanced checkout. I already have a business account and virtual terminal - as well as PayPal Here. Currently I have created some subscription buttons on my page and would like my customers to sign up or renew for periodic (every 3 months, 6 months, annually etc) for our retail mailboxes that we rent in our bricks and mortar store. Is this something your payable apps can help me do?

Thanks for checking us out. The only downfall of doing automated subscriptions through Payable Forms is today all subscriptions go on indefinitely and we only offer weekly/monthly/yearly intervals. Meaning that if someone were to signup for a mailbox monthly. They would be setup with a PayPal subscription that goes on forever. You then would simply need to login to PayPal and cancel any subscription that a user wants to stop. Sadly the advanced card feature also does not work with subscriptions so they would see a more traditional PayPal payment window. We want to work on more subscription options that can terminate. However your other option is if you want them to need to pay once each 3,6,12 months you can just do a 1 time payment form. Letting them choose how much they are paying for today. That should have no limitations, other then that the customer will need to remember to keep paying each period.

@@PayableApps Interesting! Thank you (and to the friendly person on chat last night) for the response. In my use case, we certainly are very optimistic and hope that our people will remain subscribers forever (indeed, we have one customer who has just celebrated 36 years of renting a mailbox from us, but before we owned the bricks and mortar store)! And I have been using PayPal for 23 years. Lots of experience here, but always plenty more to learn, which your site and video certainly provides. In particular re this video, I was not aware of the inline vs advanced options and, while advanced checkout cannot be used for subscriptions, we do have one-off payments here and there where this would be more useful and prevent customers getting entangled in the "wanting to pay with a credit card, but already have a PayPal account with their email on file with them" conundrum you discuss. I think then the solution for us is to create a simple subscription button as you suggest, and then just remove (or put on hold) the periodic payments. Indeed, we have created this button, but in testing, we have encountered two problems: 1) The subscription page shows our official company LLC name rather than our CC. Any idea how to change it? PayPal Here allows to change this, so that in-store card (or entered into the PayPal Here app) purchases show our dba on the customer's statement. Any idea how to fix this? 2) Sometimes when we paste the code and try a dummy on out miramarpostalplus dot com published and you click on the button, nothing happens! We use a site builder provided by our trade association - perhaps the site builder won't play nice with the PayPal pasted html code?

Hey there that will happens when you go through with a persons account. You can skip the upgrade and just use PayPal Standard, but if you want the Advanced Card processing you will need to upgrade to a business account.

Is there a way to set transactions to 'Friends & Family'?

Sadly not. Any payment you setup with PayPal through a third party platform, is categorized as goods and services. Friends and family payments can be only sent manually.

In most countries no. Shopify has “shopify payments” which will do your normal card processing. Then if you want you can add PayPal but just for the PayPal button.

@@jimmyuxer the feature is only available for merchants / sellers that are domiciled in US, UK, AU, CA. So if you are not in one of those countries you sadly can only get the PayPal Standard in-line guest checkout.
