I am using an old machine which is pretty long in the tooth. It has a 6700k + 1070 SC + 16 GB 3400 ram. Furthermore, I play at 1440p, but Tomb Raider is struggling at that resolution. I am wondering what I could upgrade to for 1000.
@gruiadevil Жыл бұрын
@@RXC13 For 800$ you can get a 5700X + RX 6800 and keep the RAM. If you have a 650W PSU it should be enough. It's going to get 60+ FPS in Ultra QHD, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Still rocking $200 CPU (2020 Shadowlands prepatch build): 9600k, 3060, 32gb ram, 1050w. I've thought about upgrading but it's okay 1440p downscaled WoW, casual games Diablo 4 server slammed like a champ 1440p though. WoW is the one this year people are upgrading past few months without FSR there has been a Dragonflight performance hit, With FSR raids are playable on low as evoker heals. Maybe the 7800X3D or something lower priced. I thought about doing the GPU also. It's in the okay for now, Will play Diablo 4 fine category. I think the only settings I touched for D4 were shadows and lighting, it honestly was a great server slam experience performance wise. IDK. 7600/X also looks okay if I move to a new platform soon but would be a 6 cores to 6 cores with better IPC move. It's okay but not amazing holding out with what I have until I decide to upgrade.

Flawless quality again, only thing I'd say is that I'm currently not advising clients to build on AM5, simply based on the switch to LGA sockets, leaving aside the SOC burns, there are just too many bugs. Though, I will also say that a 7700x is currently the best choice if you're going to build an AM5 platform, given the aforementioned SOC problems, and bugs with the x3D chips.

Interested in the 5500 here over the 3600? The 3600 is PCIE 4.0 whereas the 5500 is 3.0. I just bought a 3600 over a 5600 here in Australia because the extra $70 AUD difference would only provide marginal improvement and would pay for a 16gb RAM kit.

It makes a difference in terms of price to cooling. If they are priced the same, take the asrock one because it has better cooling. Performancewise, it's the same.

@hololololololololololololololo Жыл бұрын
i'm contemplating the exact same build you showed in the end. 5600 with 6950xt. I was wondering if I should go with 7600x since i kind of feel like the cpu might be the bottleneck when I play games in 1440p. 7600 also has future upgradability. really big dilemma as the 7600 cpu+mb+ram is around 100 dollars more expensive
@hololololololololololololololo Жыл бұрын

If you have the budget for it, it would be nice to go up to 7600 for the AM5 platform. But 5600 6950XT is a good combo as well, and you can always upgrade that to 5800X3D in the future
@Karldin83 Жыл бұрын
7600 would probably be nice, but I doubt the 5600 will be much of a bottleneck when my 5800x doesn't bottleneck the 7900xtx. Was a little worried, but should be fine
@Pand0rasAct0r_ Жыл бұрын
the 3800xt i have bottlenecks my 6950xt slightly. not big but not less. any ryzen 5000 cpu mitigates that easily. however i think an 8 core cpu like the 5700 is a much better pick. however your better off going for the 5800x3d than the 7600 as the 5800x3d is very competitive compared to the 7000 series and 13000 series
@domesticdingo1417 Жыл бұрын
It is interesting in the first build you said M.2 drives are maybe a dollar or two more, in the browsing I've been doing recently it actually seems like there are better deals on the M.2 drives than the SATA ones. It seems like there's a ton of supply so especially the PCIe 3.0 drives are competing for lower and lower prices these days. EDIT: Something to keep in mind, a lot of the case market can feel cheap right now but when I was shopping for cases I was really trying to find a good deal on one with a USB-C on the front IO. The case you included in collegedude's does have a usb-c module you can add on separately but for people who are looking for that feature, cases do tend to be more expensive right now
@xxxxtripxxxxOSG Жыл бұрын
It is really a shame how hard it is to find cases that have USB-C in the front I/O considering it has been mainstream for a number of years now. Same with many motherboards not having USB-C or even a front panel connector for it.

@rogued3mon414 Жыл бұрын
Hello there. I've seen the list and YOU can do better than that. I kept your CPU and aio but I would go for the NZXT N7 Z790 for the motherboard. I would not go ROG as they face issues with their motherboards. For the RAM, why not go 4x16? I would recommend going for GSKILL TRIDENT Z5 RGB 6000 CL32 2x16 in 2 packs of it. Both packs priced the same as your corsair 2x32. For the storage, why not use an NVME for your project storage? I would recommend the TEAM TFORCE A440 pro as it's as strong as the 980 pro. For the GPU, I would recommend going for the 4090 aorus master as GIGABYTE makes good 40 series and that costs way less and it even has an LCD screen. FOr the case, I would just go LIAN LI LANCOOL 216 or the LANCOOL 3. It's got adequate airflow and you don't need extra fans. For the psu, I would go more than 1000w like the thermaltake toughpower GF3 1350w. That ensures your power supply lasts longer. For the monitor, I think you nees a 4k monitor like the ROG Strix XG32UQ. It's a 160hz IPS 4k monitor. Rest of the parts is up to you as I don't know your preference for peripherals and there's like a million to choose from.

12GB of VRAM is just fine ''for now''. Unless you want to play some certain games at 4K Ultra with RT on. But if you can buy a card that has more then it mite be better in the long run. I think that Nvidia and AMD are going to have to start bumping up the VRAM on their cards in the near future.

I think you're underestimating how much RAM future games are going to suck up. That being said, most of the folk in the boost my build were requesting specific games so it's passable to recommend 16GB of RAM. As an example though, Diablo IV was using around 21Gb of RAM with 4k ultra settings. It would blow the poor 16Gb out of the water, fortunately I have 32Gb so I didn't have to worry.

I got an oddly specific request from a friend - they wanted a general purpose computing PC with as few parts as possible that they could use "to drive my 4k 120 TV and soundbar, play UHD Blu Ray, sync with iTunes, back up photos to a hard drive and touch them up and the cloud, emulate Gamecube and PS2 at 4k and run Microsoft office". I was going to suggest a i3 12100F or 13100F paired with a large quiet aftermarket cooler, 16 gigs of DDR4 and a B610 and an HDMI 2.1 capable sub $200 Arc A750 or RX6600 with most of the build budget going towards memory and an optical drive with the added bonus of playing RE remasters and Street Fighter 5 and 6. Now I hear you can do all that with an AMD APU on a A620 platform with no GPU - true?

I wonder if the chunky 7900XTX is going to choke for air being so close to the PSU shround in the mATX case? Since that is 3 slots + some GPU and the PSU shround in the Fractal case is not very well perferated. Not alot of room for the AIR to flow maybe.

Hello Jason! I’m conflicted , currently have an HP victus 15L (Ryzen 5 5600G, teamgroup 16 GB DDR4 CL16 3200, 512GB M.2 , 1TB SSD and RX6400 ). These games are running havoc on the GPU and for me to upgrade I would need to upgrade the PSU that fits and they range for 400w $120+ and 500w $170+ if you can find the OEM (aftermarket PSU for this machine has not so good reviews) then I would need to find a GPU that fits , according to @techwiz the GPU’s that fit would be at 400w up to RX6650 XT and 500w up to RTX 3070 . Should I just build one using parts I have to save on cost? I was thinking B550 Tuf pro MB , using my 5600g cpu, DDR4, M.2 and SSD , purchasing RX 6950 XT and a good rated PSU and nice case. I do not care for RGB . Please help!

I don't love the 5600g, but the RAM and storage should be good. What's your budget for upgrades?

Do you think the microcenter 7900x/asus b650e-f/6000 cl 32 or 34 ram is a good buy? I have not been able to find a new gen build cheaper. Prefer am5 for future. Will be matched with 7900xtx, 1k watt power supply. Budget isnt really set, more interested in value over budget.

For gaming and basic work stuff I'd recommend 7600 paired with the best GPU that fits your budget personally. But if you need to do production style work (video editing, blender etc) then 7700 or 13600K are good choices. See our 7600 and 13600K build guides on the channel for more

Could I ask if it’s possible to build a low power at idle and low power usage while gaming 1440p PC? Maybe through undervolting? Lowering tdp? Which components are best for this? Also needs c8 sleep state. Not sure if impossible it not

I watched your SSD videos. So, what do you think about getting a gen4 SSD instead of finding a good gen3 one and when is it a good choice? Which gen4 SSD can be grabbed for those who have only gen3 comparable motherboards? (Just pay a little much and don't worry about possible better performance on Gen 3 level.) 1 or 2 TB versions.

I acquired a pile of usable parts and I want to complete a build that makes sense for gaming (iRacing, ACC, Forntite), maybe some streaming, and definitely my work-from-home O365 workloads. I have i7-12700, RX 6750 XT, and Kingston KCP548US8-16 DDR5 x2 RAM (is this garbage RAM?). What would be good to round this out as an understated (LED/RGB not needed at all) but capable gaming rig? $600 max budget. THANKS!!!

@@sp1cy_cholo Either the 7900x/7900 or the 7800x3D. 7900x has 64mb L3 cache while the 7800x3D has 96mb cache. 7700 is still good tho with 32mb cache. Edit: Don't buy asus boards for now as they face some issues with em.

HZXT H7 flow RTX 4080 Amd ryzen 7700x Asus tuf 650B Corsair icue H150i Corsair ddr5 ram, 32 gb Corsair RMX series 1000 watts 1 tb ssd SN770 This comes to almost 2400, this good?
@rogued3mon414 Жыл бұрын
I would just get a 240mm aio since that's enough to cool the 7700x or get a cheaper 360mm aio like the DEEPCOOL LS720 se. For the case, I would just recommend the LIAN LI 216. For the power supply, I would get something with the 5.0 cable like the montech titan gold or the thermaltake GF3. And for the SSD, I would get a 2tb like the TEAM TFORCE CARDEA A440 pro.
