I always enjoy listening to Dr. Shalini. I first heard her on Neeya Naana talking about the deep inferiority that Indians have about skin color that starts in childhood. She was very direct and frank about the subject many years ago which surprised me because most Indians don't talk like that about the subject. Only now they're very slowly starting to complain about it. It's as if people have been drugged and are slowly coming out of that sleep. But some of us were always awake and could always see and call out the BS. Same with this #me too topic. She brings to light many hidden complexities and beliefs that create this situation- such as "Men think sex is dirty" Yet they need it so they do it in a shameful way behind closed doors. Or the other point she made about how a woman who opposes such a man without fear is no longer "sexy" to the predator, whereas fear is a turn on for such people. Dr. Shalini is far ahead of her time. And this is why most Indians, especially Tamils (who are far behind even the present time) have trouble accepting her words. I understand her points completely and concur.

I'm surprised by the hate speeches in the comments section attacking the psyhiatrist. I mean, seriously? This woman is just stating the obvious. I thought Tamilnadu has over 85% literacy rate with the highest percentage of PhD holders, female entrepreneurs and Nobel prize laureates in the entire country and hence must be progressive. Tamilnadu had a female chief minister for decades and has a history of empowered women rulers for centuries. In the modern society today, Tamilian women like Indra Nooyi, Divya Suryadevara are role models for people around the world. Are these internet trolls even real? Who are these people? Real Tamilians like us should come forward and speak up.
@ktc59726 жыл бұрын
what you see & hear might look true but indeed they were "allowed" to speak.... the media is highly regulated.... by that i meant.... there are people who knows how to control each individual..... the whole system is under control.... with control there is chaos.. look at shalani history..... how she progress or manufactured..... she is product of institution..... like fraternity.... you think all educated phd holders can be that successful....? she had history.... which people would have helped her.... who is she loyal to now.... does the society accepted her?
@ktc59726 жыл бұрын
@Thiagu D there wasn't any chaste system which i grew up in... I still have friends from every chaste but they are also so frustrated by what India is turning in to.... The killing of Gandi is now filling in the blanks.... there are still some people who are highly in control of all the major institution of India... I don't whether today people are having the same privellge of mixing with others chaste people without any problems? We cannot blame them solely..... why the society cannot acceot people like shalani.... she had no alternative but to be greatful to the people who helped her & accepted her for what she is...... but she is not stupid.... we don't know the whole story.... all I can say is "Blackmail" ..... this is an effective tool to use..... you don't know the problem.... the minority will always feel insecured.... when pushed into a corner.... they will retaliate... but power is an addictive or assertive tool.... How many people really followed the thirukural as a way of life? If that is the case... there would be no ME 2 issue right or all the atrocities... people get influenced so easily now a days.... they don't have self-control... the up-bringing is greatly affected by the necessity of both parents working & let the children grow up on their own but expect them to be "good"... Kids are manipulating the parents & even caused the separation of family permanently.... Parents on the other hand pretend but yet move on as it gives more privacy about their children's life. They are indeed happy that their children's fault is not being known to the other family members... because they don't want to feel ashamed but the kids who understands it move on & even disregard them after a certain age... they are now smoking in their room which the father have to tolerate, worst still he is a non-smoker... it than progress to drugs & sex.... to rape even... this is what happening in "elite" society... they are having control.... the middle class on the other hand becomes the victim... then spiral into a depression mode.... The disparity of wealth is so huge in India that it will be soon operating as a closed gated community..... this is the only way to lead a normal life... out the gate is chaos.... This election make the right choice... work hard & reach your target status..... work together as a unit... only unity can overcome it... don't listen to the hardcore chaste politics.... you don't know most bramin girls will marry a non brahmin because they want to be in control & be loved.... but still call themselves brahmin... what should the husband think? I have a good friend who is undergoing 18 years of sadness but his wife seems to be insensitive or just using him for his high status in the society.... he just accepts it as his fate but enjoys his children's love & company.... I have also seen bramins man marrying non brahmin girls & follow the traditions of the woman's customs for their children's rituals.... His parent's are exceptional people, very forward thinking, they are very aware of the flaws of their system & everything that is so male dominated.... they like the real south indian man's culture where woman is the Head of the house... she is given full control on the management of the house & family. They love the importance given to woman in our south indian tamil culture. The man's role is to only bring food on the table, basically money.... They are perfectly happy to play the role of house wife.... with the current internet technology... they are still active in the professional career by working from home & only attend meeting in the head office.. They are more effective managing this role & playing the most important role of being a mother. Woman don't need to work like man... they can work smart but earn reasonably do well by not discontinuing their career to raise their kids... Skill people will get offers no matter what... as a matter of fact, they can tailor- mak e a job role to fit them in the organisation... Everything today can be done offsite.... meaning from home office... only for presentation to delegates or networking purposes travel to other countries where all the delegates, including shareholders meet at a hotel conference to meet personally, usually 3 working days but usually extended if the husband took leave to make use of the travel.... so it becomes work & pleasure.... killing 2 birds with 1 stone.... I totally support woman who wants to be a full-time mum after childbirth.... yes there will be financial constrain... let her settle down, once she knows how to be effective after 2/3 years... she will start her career on her own terms... the money will not be great first but to be fair... it is still good money... once your role improves.... your remuneration will be even higher that full time office based career woman... This is the new age woman.... there are woman who are their own boss.... all from home.... that is even great... there are a lot of ways to stay in the field, provided, you can effectively balance the time between kids & work... don't forget she enjoys teaching the kids the current syllabus, thus updating themselves of what is being taught to her children.... she is good at multi-tasking... don't tell me such a mum wouldn't be the role model for her kids? Upbringing is the key to your own success.... it has nothing to do with your kids... you have to earn their respect.... I am so proud & grateful when my kids say Mum is the best teacher they have, even better than their school teacher.... Where do I stand among this mix? I take the subjects which my wife is not an expert... or rather she delegates me subjects that indeed involve science or physics.... we teach our kids even 2 years ahead... during the school holidays.... do projects like writing codes for PI, iphone, etc... we as parents take pleasure to teach our kids & now our neighbour's kid.... that is how we form a relationship within a neighborhood... We do feel guilty as we are not paying much importance to religion.... we practice Hinduism & Islam.... as that is what we both were born as by default... she insist that after 1 year to shave the head to keep up with tradition... I teach how to salah... sural al-fatiha... & even visit the mosque with them... I always tell them to get the experience... they can choose anything when they get older... even other mainstream religion.... I always tell them religion is get one in a community..... human works well as a committee... unity always is the best option.... but not to trust blindly.... where people are following a blind man who claims he can see.... I always maintain that religion & science don't mix.... though some smart people are trying to correlate both of them... I will always laugh at the science be videos where they show stars or galaxies with some soothing music... but I told them you be surprised to hear the music when recreating those pictures in out mind during a controlled meditation... Talking to them about the mysteries of our mind, our ability to dream... with both audio & visuals... They see us meditating & always always asked us, how can we sit still for 30 mins? Their questions is endless... now they can meditate for 30 mins... but we only do it 15 mins... with controlled breathing... which they are finding it hard but they are up for a challenge.... during school holidays... I am we are their play station victims... he love the idea of beating us in console games... but when I pick up my gamepad skills, again I earned their respect.... because... these are cool parents for kids... To be very frank... being parent is indeed a very difficult task... you got to learn new things & always be prepared for a new challenge or skills, whatever you can call it... with all out activities we will drop dead in the bed by 9... ready to start the day before 6 the next day.... myself I always wake up at 5... working in the wee morning is my favorite moment........ If I dream some algorithm... i will write the equivalent codes.... during such hour... that is how i made my bread & butter.... discrete maths is addictive.... can't wait to teach it to them... What chaste are you talking when you should embrace life & learn to live side by side.... your family is your world.... your extended family & friends are your creed.... get it right...

Modern women are very clear thAt they don’t want to make sexual compromise s with strange men for professional progress. Nobody should ask or even make the slightest hint. If they do MeToo organisation will finish them. The METOO org under the leadership of Chinmayee will collect confidential news about dubious men. More than 3 complaints from different women( unrelated to each other) on the same man is equal to proof that he is a harasser. Women should come together to support each other
