Recipe here: www.joyofbaking.com/PeachCobbl... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make a Peach Cobbler. I have been remiss. I live in the State of Georgia, known as the Peach State, and I am just adding a Peach Cobbler recipe. My only excuse is that peaches taste so wonderfully sweet and juicy that most of the time we eat them just as they are, before I have a chance to bake with them.

These videos are great! I've tried a lot of the recipes and I'm extremely happy about the results. The atmosphere/mood also improved greatly compared to the earlier videos with more smiling and taste test which makes it feel like she is really communicating to me! Would totally buy a book in a heartbeat.

So delicious! Last night I made this again with more plums this time. Enough to fill my 12inch Lodge cast iron skillet. Increased recipe to 1.5 more. And I used homemade butter and buttermilk in the biscuit dough. Went to sleep with a huge smile on my face because I know I am going to make a fresh batch of whipped cream to enjoy with my cobbler today.

I like to eat peach cobbler with butter pecan and/or pistachio. I've even tried Turkey Hill's sweet potato pie ice cream with this and they all add a nice little crunch and flavor to the cobbler that I hadn't thought of. I also add a little nutmeg, all spice/pumpkin spice, and cardamon along with the cinnamon to my dry ingredients for extra kick; maybe no more than a pinch of cardamon and a quarter teaspoon or so of the rest.

Gosh that looks amazing Stephanie. I love fresh peaches there is nothing like fresh over canned. You could obviously use any fruits in season with this recipe ? As here in Australia the fruits are all different per season. Thank you for sharing this with us
@agcons
@agcons 10 жыл бұрын
Where I grew up in western Canada people used peaches, apricots, cherries, or a mixture of strawberries and rhubarb (which came into season at roughly the same time and are delicious together). I've never heard of anyone making cobbler from apples or pears, but I don't see why one couldn't.

Thank you for this delicious video! Mostly I prefer to use nectarines, because I think they are a tad bit sweeter than peaches. Oh...and there's another story about the origin of the word cobbler : it refers to 'cobeler' (wooden bowl), because the early settlers couldn't find the equipment to make pudding, so they filled the recipe up with uncooked biscuits and the end result resembled a wooden bowl.

I want to use plums in your peach cobbler recipe. Do I need to use the boiling water to soften the skins to make easier to peel with plums?
@cheshkat6321
@cheshkat6321 7 жыл бұрын
I made this with the plums and peeled all the plums by hand without using boiling water to make removing the skins easier. I just used a paring knife and tried not to remove much of the tasty flesh. Turned out fantastic. It was so delicious that I'm definitely going to make them again this week if I can get some more plums. I had scallop-edged cookie cutters that made the little biscuits so pretty. I made the biscuits a little thinner because I had a thinner layer of plums. Will buy a lot more next time. Thanks again for another wonderful recipe! It will take me years to get to make all your recipes making one a week. Then there are some I love to do over and over, like your shortbread and butter cookies. And the lazy daisy cake - well, many of them will be made a lot, because I can watch your video as I make them. And the end results are scrumptious for me and my friends and neighbors.

Instead of doing biscuit style top, could we go with lattice top pie crust?
@leanonlene222
@leanonlene222 6 жыл бұрын
Rahm Menon You definitely can. It is common in some areas of the south, namely parts of Virginia, to do a Lattice topping. Also a solid layer on the bottom. It sounds like a pie, but the difference is in the thickness of the dough for the lattice topping and the solid layer beneath. You would want it thicker for a cobbler. You can even take a mixture of cinnamon sugar, sprinkle & press into your dough before you add the peach mixture. If you like, add pats of butter on top of the peach mixture. Also sprinkle a little of the cinnamon sugar on top of the lattice topping after you use an eggwash or cream as she did on the biscuits of her cobbler. I am making a peach cobbler today & I can't wait to dig in with some homemade whipped cream!!

What is the purpose of cutting the crust into biscuits, instead of having a solid crust over the entire cobbler. Why not use enough milk to make a thick batter and just pour it over the peaches?
@joyofbaking
@joyofbaking 9 жыл бұрын
Steve M Just personal preference. While you can add the crust the way you say, I really like the idea of the individual biscuits. I like to just scoop out one biscuit and then pour some of the sauce over the top.
