Sorry but for me PJ is the greatest live band ever. I saw them in 92 when they were breaking and that was a spiritual experience. They played Porch for like 25 minutes while Eddy climbed hand over hand through the rafters at Riverport Amphitheater then Jesus pose fell 20 feet into the waiting arms of fans. The place was pure electricity. Never felt the universe vibrate like that again. It was like nothing I had ever heard before or since.

Kareeme. / Yep !!! He rocks.... I wanted 2 Go See em' Not Long Ago & it was right b4 this new album & the 2020 Tours. I keep thinking.... 🤔 We've ALL gotten older. Wonder how thy will be Live Now. Last time I saw them in person thy Opened Up for U2 but even on Most all Clips Mike was a WILD MAN. Back Then it WAS the early 90's & his bff was the drummer & fired in 94' (Abburzzese) Back 2 my point - He was wild & I'm thinking How's this gonna Go ? He's 50 Somthg now & has 3 children. I was Truely thinking.... I sudn't except too much "movement" becas as I said we're all 50 Somthg now.... well, as many of U know already - MIKE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT... He WUD still jump high as he Cud & Run around the Stage.... Crazy & Fun. A little calmed down 2 the haydays of their peek but NOT Enough 2 Feel disappointed. What an entertainer. 😎

Canada Here/ C.H. - U can "seriously" believe That. Its UR prerogative BUT.... here's a few 'FACTS' U NEED 2 Know. He May "Summon" Some Spirits all right from an 'Alternate Universe' but it's probably just "Hell" As Ur boy Eddie is a Self Proclaimed ATHEIST. He Speaks of it once in awhile & U can Google IT & Hear him talk of it Himself !!! His wife Jill, practices Wicca & She Speaks of That Sometimes herself. She Posted a Recent (April 2020' I believe) while talking about the 'Covid19' Virus. She was "Thanking a Fan" for a gift box left at her Door. It had a Book about Wicca & Some Other thgs of that "Believe" in the Open Box 2 "Help her Pass Some Home Time while Social Distancing" U can See the box & Some of the Thgs in it in the Posted Video on her acct. Anyway - There U Go. Check it Out. The Summoning He's Doing that U Speak Of IS 100% NOT for the Good Angel Michael.... The Energy He Is Pulling from Is Coming from Somthg Else & Most Likely > ITs The Dark Side !!! But we Just Don't let Ourselfs Think of that As We Dance & Move 2 the Music we Love from Pearl Jam !!! (NOW... Don't be MAD at the Messager) It's Spoke of from their Own mouths.

Dude, what?!?!?! Everyone that knows KNOWS Mike McFuckinCready is a guitar god!!!! Exactly like JacobShapiro said, he does his part, and keeps it well rounded, as Pearl Jam is a 5 piece band where each member fills their roll. There's big time execs and managers labeling Mike as simply "lead guitar," doing what 'they think' is going to be radio friendly and sells, when it comes to a juggernaut like Pearl Jam. Now take Mad Season. That's where Mike was a main staple, writing the music and songs with Layne, which for the short time they jammed, Mike having NO big leash from record execs keeping him boxed in. He was able to truly shine, and shine he did!!!

first off I absolutely LOVE ur pro pic as a Rocky Balboa superfan GOAT movie for me even after 300 viewings Heat is 2nd for me but who is he fighting In ur pic I can't see it well n I know it's now Creed even though Rock is wearing his trunks from the first fight n now to ur year old comment lol ...I know u must be a super big PJ fan but ur statement is idk WOW. that's puttin them over Led Zeppelin the Stones the Who the Smith the Beatles my boy Springsteen on n on I would have to say no matter wat genre ur into PJ has to be included in the Top 20 bands of all time. that's sayin since 1950 something since the first "band" I ever knew about has to be the Crickets of Buddy Holly BC after that the true definition of a band has to be in Rock and Roll since I don't remember there being anything such as a band before Holly unless we r gonna include a jazz ensemble as a band. after Holly it's maybe the Comets from Bill Haley. then u get into the Beatles n so forth. Chuck Berry didn't have a name for his backin band n studio musicians can be included but not until the Wrecking Crew can I think of one. bottom line we r sayin from 1955 or so until Oct 2017 if PJ isn't someone's #1 choice they without a doubt have to be in ANYONE's Top 15-20 if not higher. but takin live performance, musical ability, tightness, n overall sound they r definitely there but #1 man I just don't know. just my humble opinion is all. I definitely think to me they r in the top 7 BC of all those things I previously mentioned and tenture. their longevity with original lineup or close to is unbelievable. this is definitely not to argue or anything it's just to have a discussion with u if ur speaking as a bias fan or I would like to hear why u put them above all those classic bands n classic bands period why would u jump them to #1 so easily is all I'm asking. I would love to hear from u.thank u n again I completely understand ur opinion n respect it I'm just curious is all thanks!

They all are. Ament's just got a little more of that laid-back swag and Stone is your rocking out dad. Matt is a machine who crushes shit with like 5 different bands at a time but I truly believe he had the most fun with PJ and Soundgarden.

@@SuperballBG At least Matt is with the band, making new great music, and is appreciated by the band (either as a musician and a person, yes dude it's very important too) While the only reason people remember Dave is his contribution to songs that are almost 30 years old, and he wrote only one song and co-wrote two, while PJ main hits (Black, Alive, rearview mirror, daughter, betterman, corduroy etc) were written by Eddie or Stone or both (mostly), and it's even without a mention that Dave Krusen was the ten drummer, so PJ would have become legendary even without Abruzzese Pearl jam made Dave not vice versa He could have move on, create some great band and show pj who's the man, just like Dave Mustaine or Ozzy Osborne showed to metallica and black sabbath, but he didn't create anything... He and his fanboys should listen to "present tense"

I much prefer when Mike plays melodic, beautiful solos that sound soulful rather than shoving 1,000 notes into 30 seconds and sounding like an Eddie Van Halen student who drank a Jolt Cola. The solos on TEN are nothing short of epic, I just think all his solos sounds the same and cluttered nowadays since he completely improvises them. Playing quickly doesn't equal playing what's right for the song IMO.
@Megamando93
@Megamando93 9 жыл бұрын
+ianA He has always played like that though. It just feels old now because 25 years later its tough to play something new. Look at David Gilmour, 35 years after The Wall its not like he has created anything new or truly inspiring. It's tough to make new and exciting music for 25 years like PJ has somehow managed, but I agree to an extent.
@BarryPie123

+Jake Connelly Couldnt agree more. Times change too. They try to mix it up sometimes live. It'd be boring if he played the same solo in the same style every performance. One thing I'll always love about PJ is they're never complacent.
@ia5662
@ia5662 9 жыл бұрын
+Jake Connelly I can somewhat agree, if what is new is somehow more compelling, ALA John Frusciante. I prefer the RHCP solo of "Don't Forget Me" in the Slane Castle version even better than the studio one. Also, improvising a solo doesn't necessarily make it "exciting". He obviously can go on making great new music, that is always a good thing. Gilmour actually has new songs too, just because he's playing the old ones similarly or exactly doesn't make him less relevant, he's just old as hell and probably doesn't want to crank out neo-punk rock records like PJ does now. I truly feel guitar solos are like vocal parts, you don't see many lead singers improv'ing those parts very much because they wrote them and sing them that way for a reason. Guitar solos are exactly the same to me, if you fly too far off on a tangent, they end up sounding meaningless, like a Guitar Center shred off or something, which is even more BORING and meaningless to me
@ia5662
@ia5662 9 жыл бұрын
+Barry Pietrantonio I wasn't implying bands shouldn't mix it up, but does anyone really expect someone like Brian May NOT to play Bohemian Rhapsody note for note? It's just too iconic, classic and melodic to not play those beautiful notes. I don't see why Mike's classic solos are any different, "Why Go", "Alive", this one (Porch), "Black", "Once", "I Got ID" (which technically is Neil Young, but amazingly melodic and haunting), etc. all deserve that iconic treatment IMO. I can definitely agree on some, like "Black", would be mundane to the player after a while playing those same 3 melodic notes to end the song, so I think it's the perfect song to take liberties in and go off as long as the guitar theme is repeated a few times at the end to bring it all back around. Just my opinion as a fellow guitar player, but I know I take a hell of a lot of time to write my solos and get them perfect against what's being played. I improv them on occasion, but I love them after they're complete. The Edge from U2 is another guy who doesn't stray far, but has actually added a sweet couple notes and soulful bends to some solos that sound even cooler now live. They still retain the shell of the original solo however. In the end, what Mike does sounds NOTHING like the original and he bypasses all the melodic counterpoint that he played with the rhythm section. That is to me the bummer of him going all new with practically everything he plays.

ianA Other than Alive, no other is near comparable to Rhapsody. Alive he usually plays note for note. You're too critical and seemingly stuck in the past.

Hands down.. it's the greatest band ever.. in my mid 30's and this band doesn't have that youthful energy they once had, but their playing has gotten soo much better.. compare this music to the 92 pink pop festival.. The whole gang is a little too fast and it sounds jumbled up, but here with experience and patience.. the sound just sounds sooo gratifying. We all love the youthgfull energy, but Jerry.. it's about the sound!!.
