Well, that was interesting. I'm glad Robert asked these questions and that you were open enough to answer them. A lot of bottom surgery videos focus on optics or functionality when it comes to sex - which is important, too. But this one had new information.

I definitely had similar experiences to you after urethral lengthening- took me a couple weeks to feel like I wasn't just going to pee on the floor! Strange how quickly the brain adapts though, and I'm glad it sorted itself out 😜 I think for me the most noticable change afrer UL is that now I am much more comfortable emptying my bladder. Before UL, I would only be able to pee when I was absolutely busting and was always really dehydrated. It was definitely a mental thing to subconsciously reduce the amount I needed to go to the toilet. Now I really have no issue, so I go a lot more often and I am able to go as soon as I notice I need to (for example, if I were to go to leave the house and my bladder isn't full I can empty my bladder before I leave, whereas before I'd struggle to because I wasn't busting- I'd never be able to go 'just in case'). Because of that it does feel like I can't hold it as much, but I think it's less of a muscle change and more an emotional change if that makes sense? also, my surgeon told me that cisgender men tend to have more muscular bladders that are able to exert more pressure whilst urinating than trans men, mainly to account for their prostates and much longer natal urethras. As for me, I can push if I want to pee faster but I find it feels a little uncomfortable (which may just be me being hypersensitive and concerned of messing it up, I've only been hooked up for 2.5 months) but I feel the pressure is the same as pre UL. Maybe a little less in most cases though as as I stated above I'm not busting when I go now so it's not as urgent as it used to be, so I don't physically need to put as much pressure as I did when it felt my bladder was going to pop!

Yes, isnt the brain amazing! I can still feel the warmth in the old pee area, but now I jrust its coming out the right place! Thats a good point re the toilet issues, I was the same, would only go when I had to, never felt comfortable in public, so would hold it till I got home so I too often ended up dehydrated. Now I love peeing wherever I can! Perhaps this is why I go so much!! So yes, emotional re muscle change makes a lot of sense! Interesting about cis males bladders too, that makes complete sense from observing my boyfriend! Thanks so much for your amazing and insightful comment!

@@FinnTheInfinncible - My guess is that cis-male bladders do need to exert more pressure to overcome the fluid flow resistance of their longer urethra. The resistance of the longer urethra can also result in the bladder not emptying fully and that results in more frequent urination since the bladder reaches full sooner. The stream control issue may depend upon the flexibility of the urethra and how much resistance to flow exist at the last few millimeters of the urethra. If it is tight there then the flow will accelerate before it exits, as in a hose nozzle opening.

One of my favourite parts of this video, is here 8:01 where you mention that these days you take it for granted that you can stand to pee. I know that you have so much gratitude for the healing journey you've been on that has increased the quality that you experience. It just makes me feel happy that dysphoria doesn't have any power in the equation like it used to, and that you have peace, and that you experience freedom and not have to think about it as much anymore. I know what you mean about watching someone pee lol and I'm glad Chris let's people watch if they want to, but I get the feeling that you're meaning just you? And so FinnFammers shouldn't expect a video of it anytime soon? 😂 xx

I never thought about half of the questions you have answered in this video actually! I opted out of lower surgery except hysto and ovary removal. Still have my "bonus hole" and a tiny bit of cervix because the surgeon who did my hysto said it would mess up my pelvic floor muscles being I have multiple small hernias and it wouldn't work to sew it all together if they took the last piece out, so I still am at risk for cervical cancer and still need to get paps done (BLEH!!) I love the "comedy" in your explanations of how your brain has to get used to the new plumbing hookup though, I always enjoy candor and humor when discussing things! 👍 I wish I could wake up a cis male, but you know, even if I did what you've had done, I'd be trying to see how high I could go and far, and write my name in the snow! Nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed to try! Same goes for my cis boyfriend, I asked him, if he had been born a woman, how would it have changed how he acts for sex stuff, and he said he would be extremely promiscuous lol! So, the point of telling everyone that is, for him and I, if we were opposite sex, we'd both be doing anything and everything (within moral and lawful reason of course!!) we could do. 😱🤪😁 Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it helps me to decide if I want to move forward with any surgeries later on or not. I guess my biggest thing that bugs me is, it wouldn't shrink back up so it would be out of the way, and I don't want my balls sticking to my legs in the summer! (small balls or no balls, but then where could they put the pump??) OK, I'm sorry if I overshared my personal preferences, but, this is an issue after all for trans stuff. Keep being awesome and tell Christopher he's not the only one who goes through a myriad of questions about how it feels, works, and all that! My boyfriend gets a LOT of questions all the time from me! 😄💖

Thank you so much for this video! I´m currently waiting to get stage 1 phalloplasty & I´m thinking much about these things. I myself also want to have urethal lengthening, but as I´ve understood it, that would be in a second surgery when I´ve healed from the creating of the phallos. The surgeon I met though to get information, he said that the complication rate when it comes to urethal lengthening is about 50/50 & I´m wondering if you heard of these numbers before your surgery, or other numbers? That obviously got me thinking a bit more, but at the same time I really want to be able to stand to pee. But I can´t deny that I´m also afraid of something going wrong & that it might not work... do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to deal with these sorts of thoughts? Hopefully I´m going to get stage 1 after the new year has started, but I haven´t gotten a date yet.
@FinnTheInfinncible
@FinnTheInfinncible 4 жыл бұрын
Hi my friend, yes, over here urethral lengthening is the second stage as well. I'm not sure what the statistics are now, but yes, there is a high rate of complications. A lot of chaps have issues with urethral strictures and need to have a fix, myself included. The rate of complications worried me too, but I also saw, that most chaps eventually got through all the complications and ended up peeing successfully, which is what helped me to decide to go ahead in the end. It takes time, to sit and work out whether to take the risk, the only advice I can offer is to not rush yourself. For me, the idea of not trying to get urethral lengthening made me feel awful, I knew I had to at least try. So, I had to then work out if and how I would deal with the complications when they came up. I then went forward, with an acceptance that I was likely to have an issue at one point if I didn't, great, but I prepared for it regardless. That preparation then helped when I did have issues. The complications were awful at the time, but my word they were worth it for being able to stand to pee! Not sure if you saw this vlog about urethral hookup? kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWirdZ2Gr6itmMU

FinnTheInfinncible Hey, Thanks so much for your answer! Yeah, it seems like it’s in stage two here. One thing I didn’t know prior to my meeting with the surgeon was that they doesn’t take the graft to cover my arm in the first stage. They put on something called Integra that should help the body recreate cells & stuff & make the body & skin more susceptible for taking care of a graft. Did they do like that for you too? So they do the phallos in stage 1 & then 2-3 weeks later I have to go back in for them to take off the Integra & take the graft from my thigh to cover my arm. Yeah, I understand that & I agree. One of the main things that led me to take the decision to do phalloplasty is the need & longing I have to be able to stand to pee. I don’t know exactly why that is such an important part of it, but it is. And as like you wrote, if I don’t try to do it, then I’m going to walk around my remaining time on this earth wondering if it would have worked & how it would’ve been if I did go through with it. What kind of preparation did you do to prepare for the complications? If it, god forbid, wouldn’t have worked when they did the hookup again, would it then be that you had to keep going to the toilet as you did when they did the unhooking of the urethral lengthening? I’m just thinking if the worst will happen... I did see your vlog before but thank you for linking it again! I watched it again & it’s so helpful that you share your experience! It’s so hard to get information here in Sweden about those kinds of stuff & Im not sure, but I don’t think that many chaps here in Sweden do the urethral lengthening, because of the high complication rate. Also, I don’t use a packer cause that only makes me feel more dysphoric, but do you have any coping strategy when the dysphoria is through the roof?

The frequency is going on with me now and urgency too. I’m four years post op from urethra lengthening. My doctor thought I had a stricture however I suspected differently because volume was strong. I had a cytoscopy and there’s no stricture. Dr. Garcia looked at photos from original surgery and compared them to find my urethra has thinned which happens with age. He thinks that I may be tugging or angling my penis in such a way too that it’s signaling I’m done. I can push the urine out and honestly feel like I’ve emptied the bladder only to feel like it’s urgent an hour or so later. Thank you for sharing your experience it’s reassuring to know this is a matter of urethra lengthening. He discussed rerouting to behind the scrotum and will give it some thought. My goal now is to retrain the drain.

Yeah, I can say that being FTM, not getting lower surgery, it can be a disaster for infections of any kind, shorter urethra: shorter distance for bacteria and other things to travel to the bladder and kidneys. if you get bladder infections and it goes up into your kidneys, you can actually start going a bit nuts, your brain chemistry will be really odd, lots of mental health issues come from bladder/kidney infections so keep an eye out for that! Take care of yourself for sure, always get your checkups on time/yearly just to make sure nothing is going on that you don't know about 👍😯

I am a huge sweller, so for me it was a couple of months before I could wear regular briefs and then it took a while to find the right ones, I went through many styles that first year before I found the right knd!
